YABU a lot of people enjoy his shows.....if you don't want to watch go in to another room.

I'll be honest. Adultery doesn't particularly bother me in a celebrity. The other two are bad as a role model, but..... Top Gear was a massive success because of how good they were at presenting it. As has been shown, it's very difficult to recreate that.

Of course the sun doesn't shine out of his arse, he is, however, very, very good at what he does, regardless of his shortcomings.

He's a pretty unpleasant human being. But he's very good at making TV that people enjoy watching.

It has always been the case that people who aren't very 'nice' have been good at things that people enjoy watching/looking at/listening to.

All of our family thoroughly enjoyed the first episode of Grand Tour and it wouldn't have been the same without JC.

He is really good at what he does. And if he's not your thing he is easily avoided.

If you don't like him, just ignore. If the majority agrees with you, no one will watch his shows and he will disappear. I don't know him as an individual, I enjoy his shows, I find them very entertaining. It's completely over the top, but that's what tv is all about.

Well I'm female, a full on petrolhead, and I am also GLUED to the Grand Tour on Amazon! The first episode was available on Friday and I've already watched it 3 times!

Amazon didn't need to be "persuaded" either; there were several channels after the trio due to the demand for them and their presence on TV (they brought the Top Gear audience up to over 300 million viewers worldwide!). Amazon got them on several grounds: budget, legal reasons and freedom to do what they want. And it shows.

Much as you don't like Clarkson, there is a reason your family members - along with MILLIONS of viewers GLOBALLY are so excited by the Grand Tour. The fact of the matter is that Top Gear was the biggest, most successful factual show in the world. It became that because of one person - Clarkson. The ideas and concepts developed from him. Hammond & May came into the equation and between them they developed TG into the global success it became - but without Clarkson it would never have happened.

You may not like cars, you may not like Clarkson - that is your prerogative, but millions of us do like him and are able to see beyond tabloid headlines. The new show is exceptional... the opening 5 mins alone were stunning, and for us petrolheads it's an important show.

I'm quite sure there are shows/personalities you enjoy watching that many others cannot stand. There are LOADS of TV shows I have zero interest in and/or cannot stand - I simply don't watch them. I don't begrudge anyone else enjoying them though.

If you don't enjoy it - don't watch it.

I used to love Top Gear (didn't watch it with the new presenters) and I thought Grand Tour was brilliant. As a previous poster said it's quite easy to avoid him if you don't like him.

I think that before commenting on people's intelligence due too a TV show you should have to post a list of the shows that you watch so that we can judge you back.

(FYI, I don't watch Clarkson, so not offended at that)

I loved the opening scenes. It was perfect.

I can't stand soaps or talent shows, so I don't watch them. Problem solved.

If others don't like Clarkson, perhaps they might consider doing likewise?

I dislike him hugely and while I did enjoy Top Gear and I have Amazon I wont be fueling his ginormous ego by watching

Can't stand him, nor can my car loving DH ESS or YSS. It's not really a car show, it's more an embarrassing TV versions of ladsbible.

He is dreadful. However, he makes very good TV. I don't mean quality... But Top Gear was in almost every country in the world. And that is largely to do with him.
