To not really understand why some people are so upset by transwomen using public toilets?

I'm sorry if this offends, but I really don't understand why this is such a contentious topic. I know transwomen and they just want to pop into a cubicle, do their business and leave. I understand that there is a fear of being attacked, but I honestly think if someone is of a mind to do that they'll do it whether dressed as a woman or not.

It's amazing how people can't countenance the idea of making a transwoman uncomfortable, yet they give not one fuck about whether women and girls are, or have any regard for their dignity, privacy or boundaries.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 01:06

Do you think I'm advocating for women to be criticised and victimised for not being feminist enough? You have an odd view of the opinions on this thread.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 01:07

*feminine enough

I'd wager that's the reason for the "deafening silence". Because it is largely irrelevant to the issue being debated.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 01:10

As I said, Caryl. There is no solution which works for everyone. So who should lose out?

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 01:13

No. I have said multiple times how I think it should be policied.

I'm still waiting for you to link to the North Carolina policy that says women must show their vaginas to the police.

Thanks for your concern. It's irrelevant to the issue of biological men in women's loos though, isn't it?

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 01:15

And it's not about whether people should conform to feminine gender stereotypes. It is physically impossible for me to do so. I just don't have a feminine face, hips. body shape etc.

And als, because I love Orwell, not everything authoritarian is Orwellian! Excessive ID checking as a way of gathering information is pretty much the opposite of the subterfuge used in Orwell's society! The party knew all your secrets; it wasn't about ID.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 01:19

It is not relevant to whether transwomen (biological men, yes) should be allowed in female sex segregated spaces. It is a blatant derail.

ageingrunner · 17/11/2016 01:19

I think it's disingenuous to suggest that most people aren't immediately able to tell the difference between a male in female clothing and a female in male clothing. Most tw don't pass. Even butch lesbians are obviously female most of the time.

There are too many other differences e.g. height, size of hands, Adam's apple, voice, sense of entitlement Wink

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 01:21

I think you're a bit behind on how to shame feminists, Churchill.

Generally, people have stopped accusing feminists of misogyny. It's a bit subtle.

People now just directly write, shame on you! Or, you should be ashamed!

It's terrible that that happened Carly.
I still don't think men in women's spaces is a good thing or a safe thing though

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 01:23

What do you think these bathroom policies are a result of, Caryl? How about you pop along and have a word with the aggressive transactivists who want to invade female sex segregated spaces?

ageingrunner · 17/11/2016 01:24

Ok as you say, it still happens. So your argument is that toilets should be a free for all then?
