There have been a few threads like this over the summer. MN would be fab if people stopped swearing, were nicer, listened more to the advice of the men on here... this is just the latest in a long line.

Basically 1 million users please change so 1 more will join. Behold s/he has arrived. Luckily most newbies have a little look to get a feel for the place and then jump right in as they are.

Topseyt · 31/10/2016 20:11

Fru, so am I still. Every time I see it.

The problem is, I think the poster who explained it that way actually did believe that was what it meant.

Perhaps it does mean that over at nethuns.

iklboo · 31/10/2016 20:24

The 'I hope you young mums don't mind' smacked of someone trying to sound like an older person. MIL is in her 70s and wouldn't use language like that.

HereIAm20 · 31/10/2016 21:00

Reminds me of the "urban myth" text of Gran's died.LOL.

Where Mum thought it meant Lots of love rather than laugh out loud!

nannanoonoo · 01/11/2016 01:58

My god, you are just horrible, in my day we had respect and kindness for people, now when I listen to the news I wil think of you? no respect, calling names, accusing of substance abuse, not even asking what the problem I might have, may god forgive you.

Holy shit! You came back!

Now be a dear and flounce back off.

Usernamehistory · 01/11/2016 03:26

The problem is, I think the poster who explained it that way actually did believe that was what it meant.

Or alternatively, I was being a bit of an arsehole hoping it would be used erroneously by the OP.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/11/2016 03:31

Everybody loves an arsehole on MN Usernamehistory...

Except nannanoonoo of course! So for her sake and the sake of all the children will someone please think of the children!, we should all change our ways.

GreatFuckability · 01/11/2016 03:56

May god forgive people for....not wanting to be talked down to like a fucking 5 year old mothered??

okaaaaaaaay then.

FWIW OP, I have a mother, she's a patronising arsehol too, I don't need another one, thanks.

SabineUndine · 01/11/2016 04:14

I love Mumsnet exactly for its pithiness. Life isn't all sweetness and light.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/11/2016 05:31

Life isn't all pithiness and light. MN sums it up perfectly. It's realistic!

You would like us to ask what problem you may have? Is it that your 3 million children, averaging an age of 35 years old, just won't listen to Mother? Grin

MN is a place where people are really great at listening and helping with other people's problems, but you didn't ask for help with yours, you claimed to be here to grace us all with your experience on ours..... Hmm

cheeeseplease · 01/11/2016 05:58

My very first! Biscuit

We clearly didn't learn respect or manners from the impeccable example our high and mighty mother set!

verytiredmummy1 · 01/11/2016 06:20

Posting in AIBU as a very first post...Jesus!

I'm still laughing at WTF...I'm desperate to know have you used it in threads and meant it as with the family?! :)

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/11/2016 06:27

I believe my first post was in AIBU. I was torn apart. I then NC, joined in a few existing threads and tried again. Much better. I always thought I was a bit of a viper IRL but reading MN brought me firmly back down. Some of the replies on here have me crying with laughter.

verytiredmummy1 · 01/11/2016 06:36

Maybe I'm not very brave. My first post as not in AIBU. When I post in AIBU I still get
nervy ha ha :)

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/11/2016 06:41

verytiredmummy1

I don't think I was brave, I think I was naive and silly. 😂 My NN then was something along the lines of being a mummy was the best or something. Much prefer my NN now. Grin

verytiredmummy1 · 01/11/2016 06:55

:)

My NN is still tame :) really should name change!

VanillaSugarandParkinSpice · 01/11/2016 06:58

I had a lovely half-term holiday WTF.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/11/2016 07:00

Two translations for this:
I had a lovely half-term holiday WTF.

  1. I had a lovely half term holiday with the family. Smile
  1. I had a lovely half term holiday. What the fuck? Confused
VanillaSugarandParkinSpice · 01/11/2016 07:04

I am looking forward to Christmas WTF! Any Americans on site here? Do you go back to the USA for Thanksgiving WTF?

CanuckBC · 01/11/2016 07:12

I am so glad I ended up opening this thread, lol.

There are some abbreviations I am not sure of the meaning that are not in the list, ie yy for one. There are others I am brain farting on right now. Will repost if I either think of them or find them:)

I haven't made my own post yet. I have only answered!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/11/2016 07:14

If you look back to the first page CanuckBC, a link was posted to the abbreviations list. Most of them are on there.
