To continue to wonder who is happy with where Brexit is heading

Whilst I'm sure Leavers will undoubtedly think AIBU the last thread filled up so here's another 1000 opportunities to discuss what you think about where Brexit is heading.

The BBC reports Greg Clark commenting on the Andrew Marr show about the Nissan deal:

"So what I said is that our objective would be to ensure that we have continued access to the markets in Europe and vice versa without tariffs and without bureaucratic impediments and that is how we will approach those negotiations."

Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 12:52

informal that's another worrying example of the government not having a cohesive plan.

Greg Clarke can want that all he likes but without concessions on FOM it isn't going to happen.

"So what I said is that our objective would be to ensure that we have continued access to the markets in Europe and vice versa without tariffs and without bureaucratic impediments and that is how we will approach those negotiations."

Another empty promise, as we found that David Cameron's promises were empty. He is now history and his ex constituents told him what they thought of him by cutting a 25 000 majority down to under 6000.

Greg Clarke can have as many objectives as he likes - unless someone in May's government is going to give way on the belief that Brexit was wholly about curbing immigration then he can dream on.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 15:16

When you think about it it incredibly insulting the way the government are going about all this.

Ministers are in their own bubbles, making their own comments on specific areas and hoping people don't join the dots and see that they can't all deliver what they say they want to.

Did anyone see Michael Moore's Trumpland last night and his reference to the UK and Brexit? Made me want to weep.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 15:38

can't we all just agree to disagree?
I'm thinking of unhiding the ref board & setting up a pub type drop in thread for everyone - nice & friendly, whatdaya think?

Missed this earlier too.

surfer I think, at best it's incredibly naive, at worst its downright stupid, to think we can all just agree to disagree on this.

This is and will continue to massively impact a great number of people and the worst part is the fact no leavers can't tell us what we have to look forward to or how we'll deal with the repercussions in the mean time, and I'm talking about IRL now not MN although the same applies.

Your declaration that your fairly rich and won't actually be affected by any of it hardly makes you a sympathetic ear for anyone who is concerned does it?

The fact youve admitted you don't give a shit about the economy and think people are just going with their 'feelings' will certainly make for interesting conversations if you do set up such a thread.

Yep. It's not a parlour game, it's a disaster. Agreeing to disagree just aint an option.

MagikarpetRide · 30/10/2016 16:00

I thought we weren't allowed to disagree, I thought we were meant to be sucking it up now Confused

Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 17:01

Well surfer has started the thread discussed above Hmm

I'm gob smacked that anyone can be quite so naive stupid

OP posts:
MagikarpetRide · 30/10/2016 17:12

Well at least we know the Brexit cultists don't shun alcohol. Maybe just the foreign stuff Grin

frumpet · 30/10/2016 17:37

Thing is I actually think I am fairly bloody recession proof , in that I have been on the absolute bare bones of my arse in the past , so I know how it works , what has to give and what is essential , I can go without meals ( if you saw me you would probably suggest that now !) . I know how and when to manage debt and more importantly which ones you prioritise when the shit hits the creek .

I also have a sneaking suspicion that the over 60's have voted with the above in mind and also the fact that at last there is someone else to blame for all lifes ill's instead of them Wink

Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 17:39

Whatever they're drinking I'm thinking we're all going to need copious quantities of it.

It's quite surreal.

OP posts:
frumpet · 30/10/2016 17:48

Hang on Sherry is most definately ' Forrin ' Grin

MagikarpetRide · 30/10/2016 17:51

MagikarpetRide · 30/10/2016 17:52

Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 17:53

What's that dodgy stuff made from potatoes, puchine or something- I reckon it's that!

The thread is attracting all the leavers though so at least surfer is getting her 'happy place'

OP posts:
MagikarpetRide · 30/10/2016 17:56

Maybe it will be the cultists meeting house.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 18:31

I wonder what would happen in such a place IRL magik

Plenty of back slapping and self congratulations but not much chat about reality I suspect.

OP posts:
InformalRoman · 30/10/2016 20:03

For Bear (in jest of course).

To continue to wonder who is happy with where Brexit is heading
InformalRoman · 30/10/2016 20:04

Aaaaagh, how did I manage to add it to this thread????

InformalRoman · 30/10/2016 20:04

Should have been in the pub one ...

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 30/10/2016 20:08

informal

Oops

Still....it should go someway to breaking the tension on this thread

NOT

Smile
Bearbehind · 30/10/2016 20:11

Don't worry informal I do this at least twice a day either in my head or actually on here.

You can't beat a flouncy frock either.

I am slowly conceding what will be be will. I completely disagree with where we're heading but there's fuck all I can do about it.

I also have to concede surfer has genuinely made me lol on the other thread; it's delirium but I did still laugh.

Olympia its not only 27 countries that need to agree as we - the EU has found out to their detriment - Walloon is not a country its part of Belgium!!
And yet has had the power to cause massive issues in such a huge deal.

And won't it be glorious not to be tied to the EU laws that says we can't sign a trade agreement? Yes of course, I fully believe we need to be free to navigate and choose our own course in choppy waters to come.

Fresh air of freedom indeed. This is how I and all leavers I know feel. Smile
