The Duke of York wants his daughters to be full time Royals?

www.express.co.uk/news/royal/724136/prince-andrew-requests-princesses-beatrice-eugenie-kensington-prince-charles-queen-william

This is a Sunday Express link, not a Fail one.

So Andrew wants both of his daughters to have full time royal roles funded by the public & have larger apartments at Kensington Palace. Given that the only time I ever see them in the news is for dreadful outfits & holidays, to me they are embarrassing & a bit cringy.

Andrew is complaining that they are overshadowed by William, Catherine & Harry. But if you believe & support a system of privilege by birth such as the monarchy, then it stands to reason that the direct heirs are more important than the rest.

Does Andrew have a point & IABU?!

They have the same eyes as their mother and look what a dog's dinner she used to look...it's genetic. And didn't her stylist end up a sociopathic murderer and prison escapee.

avamiah · 24/10/2016 00:02

BillSykes,
OMG,your right.
That's a whole different thread though. haha
On a serious note, that was a terrible story, I remember reading it.
The poor man died and she is out of prison now.

EverySongbirdSays · 24/10/2016 00:22

BillSykes

"still be on the ponce"

What a delightful expression! Grin

I find it all fascinating, I'm no royalist, but I do find it intriguing. I feel sorry for the younger royals, the world has moved on but they can't make their own choices.

You can see how much times have changed by the way in which they dress Prince George "like a Victorian ghost" is looked at a bit Hmm

Time was it would have been emulated/aspired to

And now it's like "for Christsake stick some jeans on the lad those shorts are atrocious and it's October"

PuppetsinOuterSpace · 24/10/2016 00:34

I don't believe I've just sat and read TwholeFT - and what i have learned too.

I've always felt sorry or these two women because of their parents. And their choice of milliners.Grin

bummyknocker · 24/10/2016 00:35

God this thread is bitchy.

Can't we have a debate about the roles of two women without descending into personal comments about figures, eyes and clothes.

Fucking shameful.

QueenLizIII · 24/10/2016 00:40

Oh yeah....

The Duke of York wants his daughters to be full time Royals?
avamiah · 24/10/2016 00:41

BillS,
Yes, it's bloody ridiculous how they dress him. It's all for show as I doubt they dress him like that if he's running in the garden in the mud.
I think it's about the Queen and what her wishes are.
It's the same with Prince Edwards little girl, well she isn't a baby anymore but they put her in long socks and a miserable looking old coat and thick leather shoes while her mother is dressed in Armani and always looks immaculate .
Very strange.

blahblahblah2000 · 24/10/2016 00:48

I've seen pics of Zara's children in normal clothes and crocs. Refreshing!

avamiah · 24/10/2016 00:51

QueenL,
Victorian yes, but explain the 'ghost'
haha.

QueenLizIII · 24/10/2016 00:52

Actually i am tempted to change my user name after this thread. It was a joke as I fancied being the 3rd queen elizabeth but now ....no way.

avamiah · 24/10/2016 00:58

haha.

Mynestisfullofempty · 24/10/2016 01:01

What on earth does the post @ Sun 23-Oct-16 15:11:04
"She is a. Implore workhorse and refuses to retire but that is not what this post is about."
mean? Confused

EverySongbirdSays · 24/10/2016 01:12

It was me who said Victorian ghost - but I've heard it in various other places. I think there was a Buzzfeed about it I suppose the thing is if you saw a ghost child from Victorian times that's what they'd be wearing.

JessaHanna · 24/10/2016 01:26

I'm with the majority I think - they should not be on the civil list. Crikey they have birth had the best education, they should want to support themselves.

Not connected but what happened to that story about the Duke of York and the young American woman? Does anyone know?

Amethyst81 · 24/10/2016 01:31

He can fuck right off and I don't say that very often here, as a PP said vive le revolution, get rid of the lot of them, bloody outdated nonsense all of it.

joangray38 · 24/10/2016 02:42

One of them had an op on her back - maybe scoliosis and still does a lot of charity work associated with that - just not a big thing in the press . I don't like any of the royal family but I do feel sorry for them- comparison s with the ugly sisters - cruel and unescessary - cruel comments about Kate result in threads being removed. Not everyone is 6ft and thin. Even when they work the press hound them - not great for them or their colleagues. But I wouldn't go to any lengths to curtsy to them and shake their hands, but the same goes for all the royals. We should either get rid of them all or let them all play at being princes / princesses because whilst we elevate some like KM / will/ George etc we make it harder for the rest of them to have normal working lives.

mathanxiety · 24/10/2016 05:58

EverySongbirdSays:
There is no "on and on"
Oh there is. So much of what they do is below the radar and very important to a wide section of society. We would have to pay someone to do much of what they do... more civil servants etc.

They only encourage a culture of toadying up to your betters, and worse than that, the belief that people have 'betters'. Their presence is insidious because what they represent holds people back from believing in the fundamental equality of all.

MayhemandMadness01 · 24/10/2016 06:46

Reading through this has got me wondering .... what would happen if Charles dies before the Queen? Would it go straight to William when the Queen dies or pass to Anne, presumably she would be in line over Andrew because of the change in law when George was born. Anyone know?

DamePastel · 24/10/2016 06:51

Anne was out of the running the second william vorn

Groovee · 24/10/2016 06:59

William then George then I think it's Harry x

Groovee · 24/10/2016 07:02

In fact I think Charlotte is after George before Harry!

CaveMum · 24/10/2016 07:45

The line of succession is (hopefully got it right!)

Charles
William
George
Charlotte
Harry
(Then Harry's kids if he has any)
Andrew
Princess Beatrice
Princess Eugenie
Prince Edward
Lady Louise Windsor
Viscount Severn
Princess Anne
Peter Philips - though I can't remember if he renounced his claim when he married his Catholic wife
If he's still in it's then his two girls
Zara Philips
Mia Tindall
Then all the cousins

ShelaghTurner · 24/10/2016 07:54

I couldn't give a hoot about any of them, don't hate them, don't like them. But I think the way these two women have been treated by the press over the years is disgusting. They have been criticised to hell over their looks and clothes. Beatrice gets horrible comments about her eyes FFS. They are punished for the sins of their mother (who I actually quite like) and were damned in the eyes of the public from birth. Someone above asked how easy it would be to actually hold down a full time job in their circumstances. And what really boils my piss is that nearly everyone who criticises their lifestyle would lead exactly the same lifestyle given the chance. Such hypocrisy.

diddl · 24/10/2016 08:26

Cave

Isn't James before Louise?

I think it only applies to williams children that a girl born first would have held her place after William even if a boy had been next.

CaveMum · 24/10/2016 08:51

You're right diddl!
