Another neighbourly dispute, same neighbours that claimed our cat was teasing their dog, and the same neighbours who accused us of stealing blackberries off their bush that happened to grow over my fence.

Well if I hadn't thought they were ridiculous before, I definitely do now.

Woke up this morning to find a note through the door saying they have had a new piano delivered and due to space they were limited on places it could go indoors (not our problem) they are saying where they have placed it is under a window and their view from the piano is a large oak tree which is in our garden. Their problem is that they are saying the many birds nests that are in this tree are distracting and these wild birds are making too much noise therefore distracting them from the piano.

There isn't even a suggestion in the note of what they'd like us to do about it. Not that I would even consider taking any action towards the tree but FFS what on earth are they doing? They don't have a bloody leg to stand on??

He needs to find a hobby. One that doesn't involve harassing neighbours!

GhostlySteamTrains · 08/11/2016 19:00

Maybe Andy could be persuaded to go to the nearest beach and command the tide not to come in? Grin

DiscoMike · 08/11/2016 19:01

Sounds like Andy needs the Lions, Rotary or Probus to occupy his time.

SauvignonBlanche · 08/11/2016 19:57

Poor Jane! Shock
I do hope Andy finds a useful way to occupy himself.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 08/11/2016 20:25

Andy definitely needs to channel his energies elsewhere! I would keep a note of those incidents though, and any notes he sends etc. Hopefully you won't need them, but just in case...

eddielizzard · 08/11/2016 20:32

yes - golf.

Smartleatherbag · 08/11/2016 20:43

Letting his wife know that she's welcome to visit is a really kind act. Fair play to you OP. He sounds like our old neighbour. The bloke was a complete nightmare, constantly nit picking. He too had been used to being in control of his whole environment, but after retirement, it was gone.

HarryPottersMagicWand · 09/11/2016 10:23

He sounds like an utter control freak and now he hasn't got his high powered job to boss and control people, he is trying it with anyone he can.

I wonder if you stand up to him firmly, he will back off? A firm "we do not appreciate your attempt to control what happens in our garden, we will not be carrying out any of your, quite frankly, ridiculous demands and we will not be responding to any letters. All incidents are being noted in a diary and we are considering reporting you for harassment so I suggest you stop this utter nonsense now" and sign it from you and Andy's other neighbour.

Yamadori · 09/11/2016 21:31

Golf - definitely.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 10/11/2016 00:00

Suggest to Jane that she buys Andy a course of golf lessons for Christmas.
Hopefully he'll get hooked then he'll be out of the house for 4 to 5 hours at a time. He could even take it really seriously, join a club then get on the Committee. That'll be right up his strwet

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 10/11/2016 00:01

Or his street

SundialShadow · 10/11/2016 03:20

If.... if Andy is one of those high-powered city nutjob control freaks that I spent 8 years working for, I know the type.

"Mine" just collapsed and been signed off indefinately with stress .... despite driving his staff into the arms of the pharma companies for 20 years now. I feel sorry for his neighbours.....Undoubtedly he is driving them crazy as we speak.

Please please let me know when the birdie party on the trampoline is taking place. I am happy to attend with feathers on!! I might even wear a bell!

Bummymummy77 · 12/11/2016 14:37

Please buy him the book 'those darn squirrels'. He sounds just like old man Fookwire. Grin

CiaoVerona · 12/11/2016 15:02

Hes not suffering from dementia or mental health issues i suspect he was like this at work.
Sadly, you're now the focus of the infinite amount of time on his hands, the only way to deal with dicks like him is to tell them in no uncertain terms you're starting to find this harassment.
Trust me, pandering to him will get you no where any type of interaction is what he thrives on therefore its important once you've explained your position to end all communications, once hes got into his head you're not a walk over he'll find a new victim. You have my sympathies!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 13/11/2016 09:04

Poor Jane. I don't think she should be held responsible for controlling her husbands behaviour.

Weedsnseeds1 · 14/11/2016 11:25

I could probably sort out a short term loan of a pair of emus and a few peacocks for your garden if you wanted to tip them over the edge?

DesolateWaist · 20/11/2016 16:49

I've only just found this thread.

I need to know more of Andy, has he started to complain that the leaves are falling off the trees?

DullUserName · 20/11/2016 20:44

Would also love an update please. Has Andy complained that the moon was too big this week or that it's getting dark earlier?

DartmoorDoughnut · 20/11/2016 22:08

Our neighbours want to put scaffolding up in our driveway to do some work on their house ... thanks to Andy I'm concerned this is the start of a take over/land grab Hmm Grin

WellErrr · 21/11/2016 01:58

This is bonkers Shock

mathanxiety · 21/11/2016 03:39

Jane may be putting a brave front on things, and her life may actually be horrible.

You are so nice to tell her she is welcome any time. Hopefully she will do that.

Keep on logging every incident. Don't throw away any notes.

iknowimcoming · 21/11/2016 09:38

Dartmoor - our neighbours asked if they could TRIM our lovely 6ft beech hedge A BIT so they could put up their scaffolding for some building work, yep, you guessed it chainsawed to ground level whilst we weren't there Angry

Mamawingingit1234 · 23/11/2016 23:39

This is hilarious! The nosey part of me is dying to see his Facebook post and the comments!!!!

schmack · 28/11/2016 00:53

Has Andy settled down OP?

MopedManiac · 01/12/2016 21:23

Saw this on pinterest and immediately thought of this thread!!!
