I'm on a Facebook mum's group and people KEEP misspelling "choking" as "chocking". WHY?!?! This spelling mistake doesn't even make sense.

You get a whole post spelled completely correctly and then - "chocking/chocked/chock"

It's giving me the rage.

I agree with the wander/wonder one. Argh. Listened to a brilliant audio book recently, brilliant except the narrator said wonder when she meant wander ... every single time. I almost had a nervous tic by the end of it.

TaterTots · 17/10/2016 12:05

definately makes me want to scream too Angry

Unicorncatsack · 17/10/2016 12:06

What about defiantly instead of definitely? I see that a lot too.

I've seen 'defiantly' where it's clear from the context that it should be 'definitely' 😳

ageingrunner · 17/10/2016 12:07

Ha x post Grin

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 17/10/2016 12:07

Well, I am discusted by all this :)

Throughgrittedteeth · 17/10/2016 12:07

YES! generally instead of genuinely! I would never correct anyone (apart from DP obviously which I take joy in doing, Mr know it all ) on any of this stuff but its these little things that bother me!

FRETGNIKCUF · 17/10/2016 12:09

should of.... would of ... could of

ayeokthen · 17/10/2016 12:09

Angle instead of angel is another one. Viscous instead of vicious, and yes chocking instead of choking makes me Confused

what about this one on a party invitation to my son '' fancy dress- superhero's''

why. just why .

Marmite27 · 17/10/2016 12:11

OOOh 'chocks away!'

Unicorncatsack · 17/10/2016 12:12

So, this would be an example of a very infuriating post right?

My husband nearly chocked on a grape while chaising the dog. I was hovering under the dinning table at the time having just brought a new hover. His had to go to hospital. It's rediculous. Grapes should defiantly be banned. I generally think they are dangerous. I wander if I should start a petition.

Unicorn you're a monster!

ayeokthen · 17/10/2016 12:14

That actually made my eyes hurt!

Unicorncatsack · 17/10/2016 12:15

I also see "hi mummy's" a lot

I hate being addressed as "mummy" anyway, like I ceased to exist other than as mum when my son was born

I teach in Bradford and "should of" "could of" drives me mad. Also "I aren't..." And the unexplainable phrase "I daredn't" (usually with a misplaced apostrophe).

badtime · 17/10/2016 12:18

BeautyGoes, I would prefer that to a happy '1 year anniversary'. Aaargh.

When did people stop knowing that the word anniversary basically means 'year's turn' or 'annual return'?

RubbishMantra · 17/10/2016 12:19

Or even definitely FRET Grin
Loosing instead of losing. Grrr.

StarlingMurmuration · 17/10/2016 12:20

I know it's been mentioned, but "brought" instead of "bought". Why?!?!?

Oh, and "been" instead of "being".

badtime · 17/10/2016 12:21

A lot (or should that be alot? Grin )of these also exist the other way round, e.g. people using "he's" instead of "his" (like, "he ate he's dinner").

CalmItKermitt · 17/10/2016 12:22

Instil and install.

"We need to instal some confidence in him".

No you need to instil some. Unless confidence is an app and he's some sort of robot.
