I'm on a Facebook mum's group and people KEEP misspelling "choking" as "chocking". WHY?!?! This spelling mistake doesn't even make sense.

You get a whole post spelled completely correctly and then - "chocking/chocked/chock"

It's giving me the rage.

Councelling is one which annoys me particularly. I am not sure why.

Ermageddon, I know a quesadilla is a type of tortilla. I also know that 'quasi' means 'seemingly'. The play on words was almost too good to be true, hence I posted it here.

It tickled me.

Obviously that's just me though Grin

What about those with dyslexia that don't advertise the fact? I know people who have such difficulty that if you can recognise the word they wish to spell that is an achievement.

Emmageddon · 25/10/2016 11:24

ThatFriskyFeline I bet you're a whizz a cryptic crosswords! Grin

I totally missed the play on words.

JustanotherFopar - "Wallah" is the Arabic for "by Allah", I wonder if that doesn't sometimes get confused with "voila" by people with some knowledge of both Arabic and French? I live in the Middle East now and it took me a while to realise that Arabic speakers were not presenting me with a fait accompli of some sort, but rather promising something "by Allah"!

JustAnotherFopar · 25/10/2016 19:25

Ahhh @Tuktuk that's very interesting. It was an American acquaintance so think it was just spelling phonetically but definitely worth remembering for future 👍

I'm sure that some people have severe difficulties. Interestingly though the two people I work with who have dyslexia spell really well and write grammatically correctly. I think it's still important to learn as far as possible.

I'll just leave this here...
