To have had a little snigger, even though it's really not funny

Friend of a friend type situation. He told his long-term live in girlfriend it was over 5 weeks ago. She didn't take it well and they haven't yet sorted out who's going to move out etc (I've no idea of any details of their relationship or if she's entitled to feel wronged etc)

Anyway, he's been excited to have qualified for the World Championships in a fairly obscure sport and arrived at the airport for his flight this morning. At check-in, he discovered the photo page from his passport is missing!

It's not funny. It's terrible. But I will admit my first reaction was a little snigger at the genius!

What's made you laugh when it really shouldn't have?

Unless he did something totally and utterly unforgivable then what she did was awful, spiteful and embarrassing.

Masketti · 12/10/2016 22:01

MovingOnUp if you're going to hell I'm going too 😂

DotForShort · 12/10/2016 22:05

What a horrible thing to do. Not to mention pathetic. Do some adults really behave this way?

AtMyHouse · 12/10/2016 22:08

Can you imagine if a man had done that to a woman?! Just cruel. Who says he 'deserves'it anyway? You're allowed to break up with someone.

Emmageddon · 12/10/2016 22:17

Sheer nastiness and resentment. Why ruin the man's chances at competing at World Championship level in his sport? Is she hoping he's going to say "ooh baby, I'm sorry, I love you really, let's get married and make babies" for crying out loud??

cdtaylornats · 12/10/2016 22:27

Criminal damagee and he could sue her for costs and incidental damages and he should.

DownInFraggleRock · 12/10/2016 22:35

Many years ago, my horse riding coach discovered that the client she'd been dating had a long term girlfriend. She didn't let on that she knew as a few days later she was due to prep his pale grey horse for one of the biggest shows in the country. He arrived at the yard that day to find the horse beautifully presented, but with it's plaits sprayed pink!

I laughed at my grandads funeral

But only because his chosen song was "the only way is up"

The funeral was all quiet and mournful then all of a sudden this club beat came on and starts singing the only way is up. Kinda hard not to laugh

potentialqualms · 12/10/2016 22:41

No, no planes involved

Now, I have no idea about the events leading up to the OP, but that is genius, fraggle :o

GabsAlot · 12/10/2016 22:43

soubriquet im sure your grandad was laughin with you-love it!

littleprincesssara · 12/10/2016 22:45

Incredibly cruel to all the other people involved in the sport and those who were financially involved in it.

Hopefully it wasn't a team sport as that would be beyond the pale.

PickAChew · 12/10/2016 22:45

Had a very old song on a very similar theme at FIL's funeral, Soubriquet, with a similar reaction :)

Soubriquet · 12/10/2016 22:46

I'm sure he was. He had a good sense of humour like that

He was that sort of man though so it probably made him happy

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/10/2016 23:02

That was funny, Soubriquet, very witty and I'm sure, prophetic. Grin

The woman in the OP, not so much. Sounds like an embarrassing excuse for a human being actually. Not clever, not amusing, just pathetic and a bit pitiful.

agentmarmalade · 12/10/2016 23:07

I think it was a great trick to play on him. And I would have laughed loudly and at length had I heard about someone doing this! It's one i would have been proud of myself!

BoopTheSnoot · 12/10/2016 23:21

Oh I've got a few but I'm reluctant to post them for fear of being horrifically judged Blush

Mybeardeddragonjustdied2016 · 12/10/2016 23:23

My ex wouldn't let me take any of our family photo albums when I moved out. He hid them in his car. His car went into the garage for repair. .
And burnt out completely due to an electrical fault.

ladymariner · 12/10/2016 23:26

Genius?? To cause someone that amount of hassle because he doesn't want to be with you any more? Have a little dignity, ffs.
What an embarrassingly needy thing to do. Not to mention illegal.
