To have had a little snigger, even though it's really not funny

Friend of a friend type situation. He told his long-term live in girlfriend it was over 5 weeks ago. She didn't take it well and they haven't yet sorted out who's going to move out etc (I've no idea of any details of their relationship or if she's entitled to feel wronged etc)

Anyway, he's been excited to have qualified for the World Championships in a fairly obscure sport and arrived at the airport for his flight this morning. At check-in, he discovered the photo page from his passport is missing!

It's not funny. It's terrible. But I will admit my first reaction was a little snigger at the genius!

What's made you laugh when it really shouldn't have?

I don't think it's funny, she's been needlessly cruel and I hope she gets some sort of comeuppance for destroying his passport. I'm pretty sure that's an offence. The best revenge is to move on and live well, not indulge in petty acts designed to cause harm.

When my friend found porn tapes (in the days of VHS) in the loft of the house she shared with her boyfriend she snipped all the tapes inside (under the flap) and put them back just where she'd found them. One one she scratched "Helen was here"!!
And I have nothing against porn however these tapes were of such a depraved nature they were bordering on illegal and he was a nasty piece of work

BerylStreep · 12/10/2016 20:15

2kids that's horrific. That poor girl.

Ifounddory · 12/10/2016 20:17

That's pretty nasty. It's not remotely funny to be honest it's pure evil.

I agree it's a really fucked up thing to do.

Spottyladybird · 12/10/2016 20:19

When my friend found out her DP had been cheating on her she left him sleeping one morning, but only after putting wax strips on his balls! Shock

This is awful though OP, did he do anything other than splitting up with her?

2kids2dogsnosense · 12/10/2016 20:19

Furry, Bubbles, Beryl

It was a foul thing to do, wasn't it? DS told me when I commented "I haven't seen X around for a while - has he moved out of the area?" And that was when he told me what the little shit his "mate" had done. He wasn't a young kid either - he was nearly thirty. Old enough mohave more compassion.

I just imagined how I would have felt if that had happened to me, and my heart ached for her.

2kids2dogsnosense · 12/10/2016 20:20

Spotty

I know some men who would pay good money for that Grin

youarenotkiddingme · 12/10/2016 20:21

Extreme genius.

However I think your right about it being a crime and extremely batshit crazy. Especially if it was just a relationship that had run its course.

GabsAlot · 12/10/2016 20:21

depends on what hes done

dont wanna be in her shoes when he walks in the door though

Isitjustmeorisiteveryoneelse · 12/10/2016 20:21

Maybe if he had been going on holiday it would have been mildly amusing for a few seconds. But a World Championship event (no matter how obscure the sport) that could have been potentially life changing get for him, nah not funny.

mrszc · 12/10/2016 20:23

Isn't defacing someone's passport illegal Confused

Floggingmolly · 12/10/2016 20:27

Genius?? Hmm To cause someone that amount of hassle because he doesn't want to be with you any more? Have a little dignity, ffs.
What an embarrassingly needy thing to do. Not to mention illegal.

Mistletoekids · 12/10/2016 20:29

Sounds like he's had a lucky escape

She must be a nasty piece of work to do something like that

AndShesGone · 12/10/2016 20:31

Simple, clever. Damn funny. Much better than making a show of yourself.

But only if he was a twat to her.

expatinscotland · 12/10/2016 20:32

I'd snigger. I'd never do it, but I'd snigger.

Redesul · 12/10/2016 20:32

The other day I was in Ikea with my son, there's only one lift in my local store, a woman was running for the already crowded lift with a person in a wheel chair, she didn't quite make it and the wheel chair smacked straight into the door. They were both obviously fine, and I was already trying to bite back a laugh when my son shouts at the top of his voice "OH MY GOD THEY CRASHED!" I quickly grabbed my son and legged it down the stairs. I feel terrible for finding it so funny

mycatstares · 12/10/2016 20:34

That is an awful thing to do.

Genius though. Bet she was grinning away while she waved him off to the airportGrin

EweAreHere · 12/10/2016 20:36

I'm pretty sure that's a criminal offense... I'd report her.

What a horrible thing to do to someone. He's had a lucky escape.

user1468353179 · 12/10/2016 20:42

Bunny boiler.

Queenbean · 12/10/2016 20:42

If this was a man doing it to a woman the responses would be 98% harsh, 2% funny with people shouting down the 2% who thought it was funny

LynetteScavo · 12/10/2016 20:46

I always flick through my passport when I plan a trip. Now I know why!

NKFell · 12/10/2016 20:47

I honestly would find that funny any way round I.e either gender.

I can prove it...when a male friend of mine found out his girlfriend had cheated on him he cut out all the feet of her tights and snipped along all bra straps and waist section of her knickers. Every single one of them Grin

SoupDragon · 12/10/2016 20:48

What a bitch.

LynetteScavo · 12/10/2016 20:48

Such nonsense only works if you totally pretend you do t care initially...getting upset then going psycho just isn't cool.

Queenbean · 12/10/2016 20:49

But NK that's only a good revenge story because she cheated on him

There is nothing here to suggest that he did anything wrong
