I am talking pubic hair. What does everyone do with it? I hate mine (especially as I get older it's getting wilder!) but what I hate more is bumpy itchy red skin whenever I try to tackle it. However I seem to be under the impression that most women are smooth and basically hairless down there and I must seem like some sort of cave woman or 70s porn star in comparison.

My husband hasn't mentioned that he minds at all...but maybe he does?

And if everyone is hairless and neat down there please please tell me how to do it without hideous rashes!!!

Hi, I had my 'bikini line' lasered about 15 years ago, I was left with a neat rectangle rather than triangle. I trimmed the rest. Lasered hair hasn't grown back. I couldn't stand waxing and the endless ingrown hairs

RiverTam · 13/10/2016 21:38

I really really really doubt that, nailak. I very much doubt the vast majority of young women in the uk who are now removing all their pubes either know or, if I'm being honest, care about the pubic hair norms of other cultures. But I'll bet they all know about hairless women in porn, and probably have from early on in secondary school.

It's a nice idea, that the upsurge in this is down to women in the Uk being more exposed to other cultures. But I really think it's just that, an idea.

PollyPerky · 13/10/2016 21:40

nailak I was talking about western culture. I'm not bothered about what other cultures do or did 1000s of years ago. Given we live in a western civilisation I think it's best to focus on what is the norm here.

Cooloncraze · 13/10/2016 21:40

Laser hair removal. Wish I'd done it sooner. Much cheaper than waxing as I only do it once a year. no in-grown hairs either

Skyblue79 · 13/10/2016 22:02

I've been getting waxed (all of it) for years now. I go about every 4 weeks, which probably makes me quite high maintenance Blush Its worth it because any re growth is so much finer now. I'd say it's less than 40% what it used to be, though it's hard to remember now. I've had no problems with growing hairs at all.
I'll be honest, DH does prefer it, though he doesn't mind a minimal bit down there. Once you start doing it you just get used to it - just like eyebrows, underarms etc - and for me, it's more sensitive during sex, for sure (if that's not tmi). I also swim a lot and it's just easier.

Skyblue79 · 13/10/2016 22:03

ingrowing!

GinAndSonic · 13/10/2016 22:05

I shave the underneath bit, the labia, amd use a trimmer to keep the rest short.

Borisrules · 13/10/2016 22:14

Rosegoldhippie,
A friend of mine (possibly not the brightest spark) decided to spray a shape using masking tape.... she taped over the hair she wanted to protect, she sprayed then she removed the tape.
Apparently it was a waste of time, energy and masking tape....

avamiah · 14/10/2016 00:13

I shave it all off and have done for many years.
Infact I shave and pluck everything, legs, arms, eyebrows and I even get my top lip threaded. haha
I have inherited this from my mum as she is 80 in 2 weeks and still uses Veet to get rid of the odd grey hair on her chin.

ummizoomi · 14/10/2016 00:27

Laser. You will b smooth. Worth every penny.

memyselfandaye · 14/10/2016 00:58

Oh fuck off Millymolly It's got fuck all to do with paedophillia.

Mine is shaved every time I shower and has been for 25yrs, so it's nothing to do with internet porn either. I also don't like pubes on men, that does'nt mean I want to sleep with little boys, it means I don't like fucking pubes near my mouth.

I don't remove any body hair since about 21 when I realised it was a mug's game.

No-one has ever said a word, they may well have thought things, but that is no skin off my nose.

CatMom75 · 14/10/2016 06:58

I keep it ALL shaved off. I'm fair and it's fine hair so I don't suffer with ingrowing hairs. I let it grow period week so it gets a bit of respite once a month Grin

All my friends (I'm late 20s) do the same or have a well maintained landing strip. I don't know of any bush warriors.

Peadophilia reference is bullshit. I do it because I think it looks nicer, it makes me feel clean and it's better for sex. With my adult husband. Likewise I like him to be well maintained for the same above reasons.

No1 wants pube tooth.

PS does laser hurt?! It would be good to chuck the Venus!

lolasdaughter · 14/10/2016 07:49

Nothing at all. Leave au naturel most of the time. Had first waxing done last summer for holidays and it was horrendous! Kept having to remind myself i've endured childbirth and surely nothing can be more painful (the bikini wax came very close!!). Never again I said. If need be it's back to razors and DIY for me. Mostly left to fallow Grin

DragonNoodleCake · 14/10/2016 08:32

I use DH's clippers to keep it short...

blitheringbuzzards1234 · 14/10/2016 08:46

I think the sensible thing to do is not to go to extremes. Just 'tidy it up a bit' by cutting it shorter and maybe shave around the edges if that's what's comfy for you. A bit of a trim is surely perfectly adequate unless you wish to be a porn star.

TheColonelAdoresPuffins · 14/10/2016 08:49

I trim it and shave around the edges if swimming. (I'm mid 40s)

ToastyFingers · 14/10/2016 09:04

Can someone talk to me about laser removal?

Does it hurt a lot?
Did it take a long time/lots of sessions?
Did it hurt afterwards?
Was it expensive?

Reading this thread is making me feel a little sad, I'm obviously much hairier than all the 'au naturel' or 'trim the stragglers' ladies and I rather resent being told my lovely dp must be a paedophile because I struggle to feel confident sexually when I look like a pube yeti.

oneleggedfatbird · 14/10/2016 09:09

Nothing. It's wildly ginger and mental. With some grey bits. I've never been one for pube faffing anyway but now I've given up removing body hair altogether. Just cba!

justgivemeamo · 14/10/2016 09:11

I am fascinated that people ask their dh if they mind their hair! I would never think to ask mine! I just keep it trimmed and a couple of times a year hot wax.

justgivemeamo · 14/10/2016 09:16

toasty I would defy you to be more hairy than me I have dark hair and PCOS.

ToastyFingers · 14/10/2016 09:31

Haha, you may well be hairier than me justgive but I definitely hairier than I'd like to be, I'm mixed race hairy af.

Seriously my pubes start at my bellybutton and come about half-way round my thighs. My stomach is hairier than most blokes my age (I'm 25) I also have hair in my cleavage and a slight moustache, but their much easier to deal with.

Mistykit · 14/10/2016 09:45

I've been shaving the lot off for almost 20 years. I just prefer it like that. You need a decent mens razor to avoid rashes/bumps... men's razors are so much better for shaving legs too, fewer nicks... and I'm not particularly hairy.

I have found some ex's requesting a full wax or tweeze as shaving doesn't get ALL of it off. I politely told them where to go. These were men in their mid 40s. I suspect many single men expect women to be hairless.

FlyingElbows · 14/10/2016 10:34

Paedophilia? I can absolutely assure you that there is nothing child like about this 40 year old adult female body which has produced three children! That's just so insulting as well as being complete bullshit.

I choose, and it is MY choice, to remove the majority of my pubic hair because it feels more comfortable and I prefer it. Not because I'm a pitiful little victim, too thick to know my own mind, living with marital opression or secretly married to the next Jimmy Saville! I also find it enhances my sex life (but I'll no doubt be told I'm a victim there as well). I prefer how it feels. ME. MY choice. Mr Elbows couldn't give a shit either way.
