Name changed just incase.. Long term poster.

We've made the rookie error of finding a house we love in the village we've been planning to relocate to.

Cottage in Cornwall has been on the market for a week - not a sausage.

It's priced well (189K), 3 bed, lovely views, 10 mins drive from sea, peaceful village, no-through road, brand new woodburner.

I can't see why no interest.. Am I expecting too much in 7 days?

Thank you :)

Have taken a couple of tester shots of alternative angles... Better?

Wow, huge difference - so much better! Grin

a8mint · 12/10/2016 14:39

Haven't read tft so sorry if it's already been said but there's another 3 bed terrace on your street for £180k

GinAndOnIt · 12/10/2016 14:41

Lounge looks so much more cosy from that angle

ineedamoreadultieradult · 12/10/2016 14:43

I haven't read the full thread but the photos are awful, especially the bathroom one. And I agree with PP it is not a cottage it is a terraced house. Definitely get new pics. And maybe drop the price by about 5k

Didijustgetwinkpointshitcanned · 12/10/2016 14:46

Pics pics pics! The angles are bad so they make each room look tiny. The kitchen picture is good though.

Didijustgetwinkpointshitcanned · 12/10/2016 14:47

Cross post! Yes more pics like those!

NaffOffMartha · 12/10/2016 14:56

The new photos are so much better OP. Looks attractive and appealing, which is what you want.

I love cats, but make sure yours isn't on the bed when you take the new pics. Lots of people don't like them / are allergic, and you don't want to put them off (even if it's a subconscious reaction, you know?)

pipsqueak25 · 12/10/2016 15:01

i'm looking a cottage to buy but i wouldn't call that a cottage, so it wouldn't ping on my radar. it's a terraced house, others will see it the same way, sorry.

badtasteflump · 12/10/2016 15:03

Yes they look better. Have you tried the Estate Agent trick of squishing down as far as you can into a corner of room and taking a picture from there? It always makes rooms look bigger. Personally I wouldn't take one with the stairs in the middle of the pic - maybe take one from the corner at the bottom of the stairs?

badtasteflump · 12/10/2016 15:04

pip if it's in a naice area it's a 'terraced cottage' in Estate Agent land Grin

OlennasWimple · 12/10/2016 15:07

New photos much better!

Sold prices in your street aren't wildly off your asking price but small data set...

Homebird90 · 12/10/2016 15:08

The woodburner on - I was as squished as I could get :)

That looks SO much better!

StarlingMurmuration · 12/10/2016 15:23

Would it be very dark if you removed that lamp and retook the pics? Whenever I can see lights and lamps lit in house sale pics, I suspect a dark room.

InTheseFlipFlops · 12/10/2016 15:43

Your pictures look 110% better. The ones they took make it look tiny, its a lovely beautiful home, i don't know the area so can't comment on pricing.
You are coming up to a tricky time of year, where people are thinking about christmas.
The house sounds in a lovely location as well.

Imnotaslimjim · 12/10/2016 15:50

Those pics look much better. Can you get the agent to use those instead?

NotMyMoney · 12/10/2016 16:00

Much better pictures live your sofa too! Would it be possible to get another TV stand?

I agree the TV stand lets it down a bit - it looks like an office desk which makes me wonder if you have to use that space as an office too. A lower stand in the middle of the corner would really help, as would some pictures on the walls. It's just a bit too stark at the moment. Lovely room though - I'm so envious, my living room is corridor dimensions (7mx 3m) and basically a playroom to boot!

liquidrevolution · 12/10/2016 16:10

I think its a nice house. Your new pictures are better. I think also the bedrooms look too cold as you have completely removed all clutter. It makes it look like a holiday let rather than a family home. Perhaps add a few books or magazines and some 'naice' toys in the smallest room, towels in the bathroom (which is lovely btw), kitchen items in the kitchen so people can imagine themselves in the house.

Sorry if this has already been said. Havent read the thread as got a screaming toddler on my leg.

MrsHathaway · 12/10/2016 16:40

That's so much better of the log burner! But could still do with something to make it look lived in, like a picture on the wall or books somewhere.

Swap the desk and sideboard in the lounge, so the telly is in a proper sideboard and the desk isn't so obvious. And new photos are much better.

Rearrange the kids bedroom furniture so it doesn't look like a pine shop ;)

I agree with a few well chosen personal items to soften it a bit.

I have no idea if that price is competitive in your area. It's a well presented version of what it is though. A week is no time at all in this climate.

Third bedroom and workshop would both have been great extras for me.

Good luck!

I think Brexit is not a factor for the housing market at the moment as people want to move BEFORE Brexit happens rather than during or after because of market uncertainty.

I think it's the more simpler thing of... it's basically countdown to Christmas now and if someone puts an offer on your house they won't be moving this side of Christmas so are probably waiting until the new year.
