Over the vax advert?
Nice family having breakfast, the kids and man make a massive mess everywhere.
Mum walks in smiling and cleans it up with the vax.
WHEN the fuck will this sexist shit ever end?

Well that escalated quickly hahaha.

coffeetasteslikeshit · 12/10/2016 14:33

YANBU.

iamEarthymama · 12/10/2016 14:53

We are allowed hyperbole when posting on Mumsnet, esp headings as then people click on🙄

YANBU.
I don't watch much TV, (not being holy, I am a reader and radio fan,) and try to avoid ads but it do think their pervasive messages do affect attitudes

(Am on the fucking cold thread so excuse poor communication here, I feel like crap)

But it's okay for navy to slag me off for objecting to sexism because she's quite happy to perpetuate the little woman at home image? Brilliant knock yourself out kid some of us manage to meet friends have our nails done AND not want to be subservient due to being in possession of a vagina

Dadstheworld · 12/10/2016 15:35

It's sexist to both sexes. Typical advert for Household products paint men as inept and women as the sole guardian of household cleanliness.

WyfOfBathe · 12/10/2016 15:46

But it's okay for navy to slag me off for objecting to sexism because she's quite happy to perpetuate the little woman at home image?

Huh? I know SAHP both men and women, and it's generally the one who stays at home who does most of the housework... because they're in the house, where the housework is Hmm

WyfOfBathe · 12/10/2016 15:50

The problem with an advert for something like a hoover is that somebody has to be using the product and if it's a man then people are likely to notice it as an anomaly, which might put some (sexist) people off buying it.

IceBeing · 12/10/2016 16:01

To the advertising standards agency! Who's with me?

user1475249801 · 12/10/2016 16:07

You're coming across as a bit of a bitch OP. Your comments about navy are more sexist than the advert.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 12/10/2016 16:10

Well OP you certainly sounds delightful Hmm

Pipthedog · 12/10/2016 16:17

I'm a stay at home dad. I do the hoovering, washing, cooking and all the other stuff that needs doing round the house because I'm the one here.

I'm not sure that makes me subservient, merely the practicalities of how our life is.

And yes, I chose the last hoover because I use it mostly.

Couldntlovethebearmore, your unpleasantly condescending, dismissive, presumptuous attitude towards Navy and her choices in life are a hell of a lot more damaging than any hoover advertisement.

I think you need to take a long hard look at your own opinions of women before you start raging at the TV.

walchesterweasel · 12/10/2016 16:57

The Cathedral City cheese ads ! Mum put the food on the table , the brood ate it and buggered off while the mum smiles to herself whilst clearing all the plates away. There was another where they woman was making cheese on toast for her DP, she even stirred his tea for him ! I wrote a very stiff letter to the advertising agency.

Sallystyle · 12/10/2016 17:07

My husband does most of the cooking and 90% of the cleaning.

He's a SAHD, I work. He isn't subservient.

Isn't he just doing what makes sense? Much like Navy is doing?

YANBU about the advert, but your attitude towards Navy sucks. The advert made me roll my eyes and every day sexism is dangerous and it always seems to be the mums who do all the cleaning in the adverts. However, I'm much more annoyed by your disgusting attitude.
