to be impressed with Theresa May?

I'm a traditional Labour voter who feels alienated by the party and Corbyn.

Theresa May really seems like a breath of fresh air in listening to peoples concerns and understanding what matters to ordinary voters.

I know words are easy to say and the proof will be in the action she takes in the years to come but I have a good feeling about her.

OP posts:

The first thing I heard when I woke up this morning was the Today programme reporting that Theresa May would fight against injustice.

Surely it's not just me (and DH) who wondered whether she would do so with "her sword held high"

Probably showing my age here. Anyone else remember Basil the Farmer, the knight in shining armour?

pinkiponk · 05/10/2016 13:35

She's impressed me so far, it's nice to have someone strong in charge of the country, not afraid to make decisions (Cameron dilly dallied too much for my liking)

LurkingHusband · 05/10/2016 13:39

Every new PM starts off with promise.

The OP could have been describing the Thatcher->Major, Major->Blair, Blair-Brown and Brown->Cameron transitions.

Come back in 2 years, and then tell us what you think.

"It's a turnaround jump shot,
it's everybody jump start,
Every generation,
throws a hero up the pop charts"

or

"Plus ça change", for the non-Europhobes Grin

Tissunnyupnorth · 05/10/2016 13:39

Off point here I know... can anybody explain to me why they think David Cameron hasn't made an appearance at the Conservative conference? I know he's resigned as an MP, but surely he owes it to his party to turn up?

JacquesHammer · 05/10/2016 13:42

Tory and therefore evil

This is such a lazy rhetoric.

I'm not a Tory. I am impressed with her speech giving. Thought she was superb. Don't agree with much of the policies behind it

TheWrathFromHighAtopTheThing · 05/10/2016 13:42

What would be the point Tis?

That would be like getting a new job and going to your old work's christmas party.

QuizteamBleakley · 05/10/2016 13:43

Awful woman (and I'm a closet Tory!) Blush Fucked the Police over and has now set about doing the same to more people.

Thefishewife · 05/10/2016 13:43

Very good thought Ruth Davidson was good to

To think corbyn should start Job hunting

It was strong self assured and really spoke to me

If labour still think corbyn is a winner then 😕

Thefishewife · 05/10/2016 13:46

And as a black mum with a black son lol I am rhyming

She nailed it corbyn dosent seem like he could kick the police into touch to me

Blue4ever · 05/10/2016 13:46

Pound has hit a five year low following her speech, not sure if the international markets agree with you op.

For me, I think her speech was preaching. She did make k of one of those American preachers you se on telly, 'come with me' to where? The Dark Side? Nop, I thought it was a poor speech, spitting on international human rights layers, those evil bastards.

No sorry op, I disagree with you completely. Her speech (and her position on so many things, including NHS, education, immigration) is making me run away from the Tories.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/10/2016 13:47

Nope. I'm one of the 48% of voters, who wanted to remain. She hasn't addressed any of my concerns as I quickly see my currency biting the dust and my dh spending thousands to get dual citizenship, with me following on his heels to get a European passport - he's European.

hackmum · 05/10/2016 13:48

If the OP isn't a Tory central office plant, I'll eat my hat.

Blue4ever · 05/10/2016 13:48

Oh yea those lists of foreigners... ahaha brilliant, whose genius idea was this? Will they have to wear a special badge so everyone will know that they are not native? Joke, a dangerous, idiotic, stupid joke.

EdmundCleverClogs · 05/10/2016 13:49

Oh she is Tory through and through. Very Cheshire Cat, any sensible person would take what she says with a pinch of salt. Though I doubt she has sleepless nights over her position, not after Labour voted in that old fool again, therefore ruining any chance of winning the next election.

ItsJustNotRight · 05/10/2016 13:50

It's all so good, I don't believe a word of it, unfortunately many people will. Maud and Tnut have it sussed.

Blue4ever · 05/10/2016 13:51

Hackmum, I bet you are right.

Kitsa · 05/10/2016 13:51

I despise her and everything she stands for.

So no.

She has been the driving force behind legislation keeping families apart or forcing them out (mine included) long before she became PM.

here

But judging by the replies here many of you will probably think that's just great or that low-earning losers like me don't deserve the chance to build their families here. Which is clearly what May thinks.

Blue4ever · 05/10/2016 13:53

I didn't believe a word of it either, all made up lies. It's probably the same spin team that agreed that the 350 million pounds joke was a good idea.

I did think that sitting all the young Conservative party members at the front was a genuous idea though. I wonder how many times those kids clapping will be on the ten o'clock news?

Kitsa · 05/10/2016 13:53

I should add that her actions bearing on my own situation are actually low in a long list of reasons why, politically and morally, she appalls me.

NobleKnickerNibbler · 05/10/2016 13:54

The Tory party conference is sending shivers down my spine. And definitely not in a good way.

Davros · 05/10/2016 13:55

I love Ruth Davidson and quite impressed with Theresa May so far. I consider myself an anti-Labour floater! I am also happy with Sidiq Khan.

Shiftymake · 05/10/2016 13:55

Not impressed with May one bit, not sure what you are on about regarding being impressed with her? She is terrible so far, and as far as I can see is a new Thatcher. Literally about to spew just now thinking of the things she has done already and may do in the time forward.

Thefishewife · 05/10/2016 13:55

Well old man corbyn isn't going to save yu from here lol

So I guess you are all are going to have to suck it up until labour get ther shit together 😁😁😁😁😁

Realhousewivesofshit · 05/10/2016 13:56

tory and therefore evil

Right you sound about 7.

not a Tory and resigned Labour Party over the take over of momentum and Corbyn. Been there done that when militant tendancy kept the tories in for decades by their antics.

She's impressed me so far but time will tell.

ooonatoffolo · 05/10/2016 13:56

I liked the fact she laughed at Boris.
I like 'her' - style / mannerisms. It makes a nice change from a public school boy bully like Cameron and Osborne.
I think she is sensible to say that it is foolish for the intelligentsia to mock the racist proles who voted out. Those people will now warm to her.

But I don't like this 'foreign workers list' stuff one little bit.
