I'm a traditional Labour voter who feels alienated by the party and Corbyn.

Theresa May really seems like a breath of fresh air in listening to peoples concerns and understanding what matters to ordinary voters.

I know words are easy to say and the proof will be in the action she takes in the years to come but I have a good feeling about her.

Ghost, of course there weren't any foreign workers, the country wasn't exactly booming.

Oh I must have imagined those Indian GP's at my local surgery in the 1980's.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 05/10/2016 20:14

Do all 60 million people have the same concerns? Because she only seems to be pandering to the supposed concerns of leave voters.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/10/2016 20:16

He's away, yes, after a very busy campaign. He's not on the moon, though. And is contactable

So why not comment then instead of repeatedly tweeting about a film festival? Can you not see how that looks?

He refuses to go on TV. He pre records radio as he 'isn't a morning person'

It isn't misinformation it is what is happening.

As for Brexit, it is seriously not ok for Labour not to discuss it. I have no idea what Labour want out of the negotiations.

As I say until yesterday both DH and I were very active members and campaigners for Labour.

We both campaigned for remain.

Corbyn has the worst poll ratings going. It won't change.

Thefishewife · 05/10/2016 20:17

Well at least James o Brian has upped his game he was comparing them to black shirts on his moring show

He's another 🍾Socialist he lives in leafy chewisk and has made it quite clear he will consider private school for his girls faced with the shit holes in white city and Hammersmith I am nit surprised

He owns quite a few homes and is a twat he can't even pretend to be in partical is quite cringe tbh

Thefishewife · 05/10/2016 20:20

Watching PMq every week is just getting awful

It's like Mike Tyson agisnt well me the one and only time he had her or Cameron on the run was over grammar schools then after he gets his arse handed to him he shuffles off to a rally so his views and popularity can be confirmed in the echo chamber

When the guardian don't even back you yur fucked tbh

RortyCrankle · 05/10/2016 20:23

cardibach
I'm sick of misinformation about the Laburnum Party in general and Corbyn in particular.

Oo I had no idea Labour had changed to the Laburnum Party - oh I have a laburnum in my garden - does this mean I will have to rip it out? Sad

Sorry, I'm being stupid, I know its an autocorrect - just couldn't resist Grin

RortyCrankle · 05/10/2016 20:25

PS Sorry to leave the serious responses to Piglet will do better tomorrow Smile

ItsJustNotRight · 05/10/2016 20:29

Laburnum? Think it's highly poisonous Shock

Peregrina · 05/10/2016 20:31

why should we allow business to exploit low earners and keep the wages low

If the Tory party was so keen to do something about this, they have had since May 2015, and even 2010 as part of the Coalition to do it. Why didn't they? Because they basically don't give a stuff about the poor, and are only doing it to pick up UKIP votes, having completely sold out to UKIP themselves.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 05/10/2016 20:31

Well 45% of Labour voters were not sure if Labour were supporting Leave or Remain

Corbyn wouldn't share a platform with David Cameron

Yet we know Corbyn has shares platforms with terrorists representatives and supporters

He is not misrepresented at all he is an agitator

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 05/10/2016 20:41

And what did UKIP promise voters

Jobs for them

Of course they are going after UKIP voters many were once Labour voters .....

The Tories seem to understand why many voted to leave Labout haven't even really bothered to address the issues it's not what they want to discuss or deal with it doesn't fit into their political agenda so why bother

Guitargirl · 05/10/2016 20:46

TheField - I have boycotted that census.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 05/10/2016 20:48

So Labour should pander to ignorance, fear, hate and xenophobia in order to win votes?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 05/10/2016 20:50

Will May be asking foreign businesses in the UK to leave? British businesses for British workers surely?

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 05/10/2016 20:51

No

But they should be listen to what people are telling them and to their concerns not just claiming they are ignorant but they don't want to

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/10/2016 20:53

So Labour should pander to ignorance, fear, hate and xenophobia in order to win votes?

No one has said that!

Talking about immigration doesn't make you ignorant or xenophobic.

Listen to people's genuine concerns rather than shut down debate.

mathsmum314 · 05/10/2016 20:53

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet

I said TM would take us out of the ECJ not the ECHR, two entirely different things.

How about a 17.4 million mandate....Against an electorate of 47 million?
Everyone had the option of voting, if they didn't, we assume they dont care about the outcome. 17.4 million people is the biggest mandate in our country, EVER, more than even Tony Blair or The Iron Lady got in their heydays.

Her proposed requirement that lists be kept of non-British staff is the beginning of a slippery slope to something potentially very nasty indeed.
Or maybe its a way of finding illegal immigrants who should not be working in this country and are undercutting the wages of legit workers!

Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell seem similar to Leon Trotsky and Joseph Stalin at the start of communism. Didn't Stalin kill five times more people than Hitler? So I think we should worry more about Jeremy than Theresa. Grin

roarfeckingroar · 05/10/2016 20:54

She's awesome

beepbeeprichie · 05/10/2016 20:55

YANBU. I feel the same way. I hope she follows through on the rhetoric though.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 05/10/2016 20:58

Listen to people's genuine concerns rather than shut down debate.

Nobody is shutting down debate. It has been said time and again that migrants are net contributers. Threatening to kick foreign GP's out is at best bonkers and at worst xenophobic.

Some people have their prejudices and will stick to them even when confronted with counter evidence (remember we don't need experts!). This is post truth politics. Tell a lie often enough..

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 05/10/2016 21:03

I really liked her and think she's got as much of a hope at pulling off a pragmatic Brexit as anyone.

But the foreign worker lists just stink of pandering to lost UKIP voters and I thought she was better than that.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 05/10/2016 21:06

I really liked her and think she's got as much of a hope at pulling off a pragmatic Brexit as anyone.

How can a hard Brexit be pragmatic?

roarfeckingroar · 05/10/2016 21:08

Having control over borders and who is allowed to work / live / settle is not xenophobia it's common sense for a sovereign nation which - thank fuck - soon we will be again

JustAnotherPoster00 · 05/10/2016 21:10

roar dont you have a DM sad face story you can go and read?

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 05/10/2016 21:11

OK immigration has been a great success in every part of the country, it hasn't impacted wages, school places, rental market, or added any extra pressure on the NHS at all

And local governments/NHS trusts have been able to take this into account when budgets are worked on as they know excatly how many more people give or take a few that they have to provide services for

And all have intergrated into society perfect those that claim otherwise are just lying

No one is claiming that we are free from racism in this country
