To expect DH to shower more than twice a month

IsItJustFuck1ngMe · 03/10/2016 22:31

As the title goes really. DH has become very shower averse now there is a slight nip in the air, and has confessed to a shower hiatus extending to 12 days Confused. Has dispensed with regular full showers in favour of a 'whores wash' in the sink.

Maintains he is clean, I disagree and thinking of picking him up and putting him in the shower. DAILY. Regardless of screams and tantrums.

I'm not BU am I? Hmm. Unless in fact is a gremlins and melts???

There are loads of areas that smell, not just bits and pits, greasy hair smells rank, the arse crack, and ladies with large boobs (myself included) can smell underneath and get sore if not washed daily. Basically your whole body needs a proper dunk if you want to be fresh and clean.

WorraLiberty · 03/10/2016 23:57

The people who smell on public transport are those who don't use deodorant.

OMG again Gwen I'm sorry but you sound quite deluded Confused

Not showering but using deodorant, just makes you smell like someone who hasn't showered the stale sweat off and tried to cover it with deodorant.

It's like a weird mix of sweat and perfume...a bit like when teenage boys (I'm looking at you DS3) coat themselves in Lynx and you can smell both smells mixed together.

Or when a smoker thinks their breath smells fresh after sucking a mint.

No it doesn't, it just smells like weird mix of tobacco and mint.

HemanOrSheRa · 03/10/2016 23:57

Ye Gods! I finished a 48 hour stint on call at 7am this morning. I'm not ashamed to say I fecking stank and a hot shower made me feel much better. Nice bubbly products made it much better but generally the feeling of warm water washing the crud away felt great.

I very often come across people, generally women, having a whores wash, in work. It's not nice. They are generally trying to wash away spunk with handfuls of water and make themselves vaguely presentable for the next 'Client' Sad.

bloodyteenagers · 03/10/2016 23:58

Its not just people who exercise daily that require showers more than one.
For example - If i had sex last night, I would be in the shower in the morning, so would I expect my partner. I would then go to work, possibly on a hot underground, squashed in by others, into an airless building, walking around and sweating. I would come home and out of respect to my partner, have a shower before having sex.
Menstrating I would have more than one shower during the day.
Menopause more than one shower.

There will be more reasons why people have more than one shower a day. Or indeed have a shower a day, other than just because they exercised.

Gwenhwyfar · 03/10/2016 23:59

"Boaking at 'overshowering'."

Why? Ask a dermatologist if you should be showering twice a day, or even once a day if you have dry skin?

Lightsoffplease · 04/10/2016 00:00

Where do you work Heman?

PickAChew · 04/10/2016 00:00

If you need to know, gwen getting hot and sweaty seems to allow yeast to take hold there, even though I'm not prone to it anywhere else. Part of that ight be a eaction to elasticated waistbands or belt buckles, since I have ild allergies to both, which makes the skin there quite vulnerable.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/10/2016 00:01

"the arse crack, and ladies with large boobs"

This man does pits and bit so that presumably covers arse crack and the ladies with large boobs thing is hardly relevant.

AgeingArtemis · 04/10/2016 00:01

Eww... And I thought I was a soap dodger!

I will occasionally skip days when I'm too rushed and I haven't done anything strenuous, but even someone who is completely sedentary needs to be washed every other day at least! I could justify 2 days skipped if there is a reason (shower broken) and a strip wash is done. Your DH sounds revolting boak

EastMidsMummy · 04/10/2016 00:02

Why? Ask a dermatologist if you should be showering twice a day, or even once a day if you have dry skin?

I don't have dry skin. I have great skin. Great clean skin.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/10/2016 00:02

"Not showering but using deodorant, just makes you smell like someone who hasn't showered the stale sweat off and tried to cover it with deodorant."

The man washes his pits!

PickAChew · 04/10/2016 00:04

I've quite happily skipped today, btw, since I have areas of dry skin which appreciate it - but will feel rank in the morning!

Lightsoffplease · 04/10/2016 00:04

Eastmids I bet the your skin's microbiome is imbalanced, perhaps just as much as the OP's husband's is.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/10/2016 00:05

"If you need to know, gwen getting hot and sweaty seems to allow yeast to take hold there, even though I'm not prone to it anywhere else."

Interesting. That's not universal though.

Wdigin2this · 04/10/2016 00:05

Ergghhhh......well, he wouldn't be getting between my lovely clean sheets, or anywhere near me, after my nightly shower and clean jimjams!

EastMidsMummy · 04/10/2016 00:07

Oh no! Well at least mine doesn't stink.

(What the fuck's a microbiome?)

PickAChew · 04/10/2016 00:07

Might not be universal, but I've sa near enough yeasty people on the bus.

Non as bad as the couple stinking of stale piss, yesterday, though. Don't think I've ever been on a us with as many open windows in October.

Lorelei76 · 04/10/2016 00:08

I often shower twice a day what with public transport and gym
Wash hair daily
not saying it's for everyone but def never been with a guy who isn't same
Wondering if op DH has hair?!

Only1scoop · 04/10/2016 00:09

Ugh Grim
Does he clean his teeth?

CaptainCabinets · 04/10/2016 00:09

What the fuck! Shock

My OH showers twice a DAY and his feet still smell unholy by the end of the day so fuck knows what your OH smells like! Confused

I hope you don't shag the smelly bastard.

bloodyteenagers · 04/10/2016 00:09

But he's not washing all the areas of the body that sweat, and ultimately smell.

If there wasn't an issue with washing, then one of the main causes of candidiasis wouldn't be poor hygiene.

Amethyst81 · 04/10/2016 00:10

Yes Gwen I know the OP is talking about her partner who is male I'm not stupid Hmm but you insist that people in general including women don't need to shower daily, which frankly is rank.

Lynnm63 · 04/10/2016 00:10

I thought the title was going to be twice a week and I was thinking well that's pushing it, I may go a day or two if I'm feeling too unwell but twice a month that's proper gross. I was in ICU and was bed bathed and dry shampooed daily, thankfully I was unconscious, once I was conscious I was desperate for a good soak.

HemanOrSheRa · 04/10/2016 00:10

I'm a Housing Officer for a local authority Lights. I work providing support to a specific group of people but we also manage the buildings and give 24hr/365 days cover.

HateSummer · 04/10/2016 00:11

That's sick. It hasn't even been cold yet.

honestly, how do you hug him at night? How do you let him anywhere near you?
