In very difficult times, being good looking has helped me soldier on

Of course we don't know what you went through, OP. Ugly people do get through horrendous shit, too. Don't let your physical beauty become a crutch. Most of us have some terrible stuff happen when we are older and wearier.

You need coping strategies for middle age and beyond. The fact your beauty is a comfort to you is a start, you clearly have the ability to look out for positives.

eggyface · 03/10/2016 13:38

You've mentioned "luck" in all your posts OP. You're lucky to have looks, your car, to even be here, you're not lucky as you don't have kids.

Of course luck plays a big part in our lives and knowing that helps to keep us all humble. But I wonder if you're focusing too much on external things, life as something that happens to you rather than something you can influence? Having children or car a to a certain extent is something you can help to make happen (even in a world of infertility /no partner/no money etc you can work towards a goal). Nothing is solely luck. If you think more about what you can DO and BE and less about the things th st have happened to you then you might find other ways to move through the tough times . Looks might become less important - of all the things you discuss they truly are the lucky bit.

TathitiPete · 03/10/2016 13:39

No, no, I don't wanna hijack the thread, but thanks for the well wishes and flowers.

Another example would be a friend of mine who's son died last week at the age of 15. She's most certainly going through a tough time right now too.

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/10/2016 13:40

You have to make your luck. Agree with [eggy].

AverageGayLadAtChristmas · 03/10/2016 13:40

Pete :( Flowers

I give myself 3/10 normally, 5/10 with effort so never

PoppyPicklesPenguin · 03/10/2016 13:40

I saw your other post. I'm sorry you lost your friend and feel lonely, I really am and I think if you talk about the things bothering you the you will get help and support, people did reach out to you on your other thread.

But this doesn't make sense you said you had put on loads of weight in your other thread and pretty much implied you felt miserable about that and then have started new thread saying how beautiful you are. I'm just a bit confused

Trefoil · 03/10/2016 13:41

eggyface - you're right in terms of things you can do and be etc. Sometimes u admit I've been my own worst enemy

OP posts:
Trefoil · 03/10/2016 13:41

I** admit

OP posts:
Mummyoflittledragon · 03/10/2016 13:41

You're definitely being your worst enemy the way you're talking right now. It's really depressing.

Trefoil · 03/10/2016 13:43

Poppy I have been overweight but when I became size 8 got loads of male attention

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/10/2016 13:44

Oh OP you are right - you are the only person whose gone through anything - but least you have your stunning looks, eh?

What happens if shit happens to ugly feckers like me

Trefoil · 03/10/2016 13:45

But looks are subjective as someone said.

Biscuit

My first ever..been waiting for this day my whole life.

Trefoil · 03/10/2016 13:47

I'm not the only person who's gone thru anything - just sometimes people have to cling to whatever they feel helps

OP posts:
slightlypeevedwombat · 03/10/2016 13:47

still waiting for a pic OP?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/10/2016 13:48

Why start a thread about how gorgeous you are though? Plus looks fade, if you define yourself by that you are going to be very disappointed.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 03/10/2016 13:49

Beautiful and a size 8! My long lost identical twin!

portia. My bathroom light broke months ago and I refuse to fix it. I look much prettier in the dark.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/10/2016 13:49

And tbf you may be the most gorgeous person on the planet you obviously think you are but your arrogance is astounding. The most beautiful people in the world are those who exude it from within.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 03/10/2016 13:50

it is unfortunate that so much value is put on womens looks

from a young age we are told the pretty fair woman will be the ones who marries the prince and has a wonderful life

she has no need to be clever, ambitious just to look keep looking pretty

we still are given these messages they are all around us just watered down

isn't it sad that some women think they way they look is their ticket to happiness

Stormtreader · 03/10/2016 13:50

I've never been more than a 5 at best, if I ask if I'm pretty then the best I get is "you're...cute".
On the upside, I'm not overly worried about losing it all as I get older, so pros and cons really! Grin

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 03/10/2016 13:50

livia. I never imagined you as anything other than a statuesque beauty. It must be the username!

BeMorePanda · 03/10/2016 13:51

Gosh it's autumn now - watch out for all those dangerous puddles OP.

HermioneWeasley · 03/10/2016 13:51

I'm a bag of spanners. I'll just nip off and kill myself. Also everyone else will be spared looking at my ugly face and fat are (except the medical students who will have to gaze on my cruelly misshapen features as they practice anatomy, poor buggers)

catgirl1976 · 03/10/2016 13:51

You were over weight and then you got loads of male attention when you were a size 8?

How do you know this isn't a BOBFOC situation? Did you not get attention when you were a bit bigger?

But anyway, glad you've got your amazing looks to see you through. I'd try to find something a little less transient to value about yourself though. It's a better long term strategy.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 03/10/2016 13:51

Jess Grin Well of course Grin
