I'm 16 weeks pg and first noticed symptoms about a week before my missed AF. Friends and family disbelieve this and seem to think I must have imagined the symptoms Hmm so, out of interest when were your first symptoms of pregnancy and what were they?

OP posts:
fairiedemon · 29/09/2016 10:32

I threw up every time I lit a cigarette (unplanned pregnancy). Great way to give up as even after dc is here the smell still makes me dry heave!

NoBetterName · 29/09/2016 10:38

First time, I had no idea (though dh knew several days before the doctor confirmed. DH has two older children from his first marriage). Second time I knew about a week before AF because I felt the same as the first time. The symptoms were similar to expecting a period, but different, which probably makes no sense whatsoever.

Farmmummy · 29/09/2016 10:47

First pregnancy I was over 8 weeks gone but was ill already and still on contraception. 2nd pregnancy same as you was about 6 days before due nausea, sore boobs, stomach pains, bloated, and just kind of knew to test. Third pregnancy 9 days before af was full of energy (I have fibromyalgia and chronic migraines so that's unusual) nausea, boobs were bigger and I just knew. I also felt this time it would be ok (lost my twins previously and it would be a girl) she is now 19 months going on 3 lol and the boss of the whole farm!

S1lentAllTheseYears · 29/09/2016 10:53

Metal taste about 4 days after conception every time.

There were loads of times when I was ttc that I imagined/willed myself into having symptoms but secretly knew I was kidding myself. Every time I got the metal taste I KNEW I was pregnant. Three babies and three other times I am 99% certain I conceived but didn't make it past the implantation stage.

I believe you :)

Squashpocket · 29/09/2016 10:56

I know they say you can't get symptoms until after implantation, but my heart rate went up from its usual 70 bpm to 90-100bpm almost immediately after conception (was using opks so know exact date), and stayed that way until the start of the 2nd tri. So my first sign of pregnancy is always suddenly being very aware of my heartbeat. Has been the same for all 4 pregs.

Crazycatlady123 · 29/09/2016 11:56

Squashpocket I wonder if that's what I had. A few days after we would have conceived, i was out with friends having a good time then for no reason suddenly heart was racing and I had a panic attack!

LittleLionMansMummy · 29/09/2016 12:01

I swear I knew the moment of conception in both pregnancies, but would never say that aloud to people as I'm aware of how barmy I sound. With this one the earliest signs were extreme fatigue, really weird and very vivid dreams and constant twinges and pulls on the left hand side (like ov pain) pretty much from conception until maybe 8 to 10 weeks pregnant.

AnneLovesGilbert · 29/09/2016 12:11

I knew I wasn't going to come on. No normal af symptoms, boobs smallest ever, no af bloating, I just knew it wasn't coming and without meaning to told DH I was pretty sure I was pregnant. 9 days before I tested.

TheVeganVagina · 29/09/2016 12:18

My late dh sub consciously always knew before me. He would kiss my stomach out of nowhere. It happened with each pregnancy. By the third time i realised.

Squashpocket · 29/09/2016 12:21

Glad it's not just me then! Although like you littlelionmansmummy I don't tell people this in RL for fear of sounding like a mad woman Grin

JaffaMomma18 · 29/09/2016 12:24

Really bad period like cramps thought it was the start of my period until I was a couple of days late kept joking to my partner imagine if I was up the duff.! No period 2 weeks later took a test and there it was a pretty bright positive 2 lines.Confused

SprogletsMum · 29/09/2016 12:29

I felt rough enough to take a pregnancy test, which was positive about 3 days after conception according to an early dating scan.

MoonStar07 · 29/09/2016 12:45

I knew at 3 weeks pregnant must have been at 7 days post ovulation I got a faint positive however I knew before I did the test beacaue my wee smelled funny! I told a work colleague this and she too knew at 3 weeks cos of her smelly wee! I went to the GP who was in absolute shock that I knew so quickly but I knew when I ovulated (sticks) I knew when I DTD! We caught first month each time and the wee thing happened both times!

MoonStar07 · 29/09/2016 12:47

Littlelions I also had the pull feeling twinge pain around ovary so totally knew both times!

TheHubblesWindscreenWipers · 29/09/2016 13:11

Vomiting. Copious, exorcist style vomiting. From about a week before missed period. Tested positive early too.

The vomiting stopped the day he was born.

Needless to say I believe you can have early symptoms

maggiethemagpie · 29/09/2016 13:13

Tingly boobs. They also seemed bigger than normal. I remember being knackered too, the world cup was on so people were allowed to leave work early and even though I'm not a massive footie fan I pretended I was so I could go home for a nap.

It was a surprise pregnancy so I had no idea these were symptoms!

Ginoholic · 29/09/2016 13:40

Extremely sore boobs and exhaustion like I had never felt before - both around 1 week before period was due!

melibu84 · 29/09/2016 13:47

Instead of having my period, I had really horrible craps and no bleeding. On the 3rd day of this, I knew something had happened because I always start like clockwork. It took the test a few days later, and it was positive. I thought those were implantation cramps at the time, but when we had our dates, it turned out we'd conceived the month before.

JellyBelli · 29/09/2016 13:49

I went off tea and fancied dry burned toast. It couldn't be anything else really.

TheNoodlesIncident · 29/09/2016 13:49

Needing to go for a wee all the time

Sudden bouts of tiredness

FamiliarSting · 29/09/2016 13:58

With my second pregnancy I did not have PMT in the week before my period was due, which was very noticable, and I had a sort of winded feeling.

With my first pregnancy my first symptoms was period type pains around the time my period was due which continued for a week or so after I was due, plus sore boobs.

Cellardoor23 · 29/09/2016 13:59

I didn't really have a particular symptom. I just wasn't my usual self. I felt tired as if I was maybe coming down with something. My depo injection had finished so I wasn't having any periods anyway. But for some strange reason I just knew even with mild symptoms that could have been anything.

I didn't feel sick either. It was around about the second month after I knew, I started to feel sick!

Gingermum · 29/09/2016 14:23

For my first pregnancy - I walked into the kitchen where my husband was making coffee and nearly retched from the smell. I normally love the smell of coffee. Also the smell of sesame oil made me barf. And a metallic taste in my mouth.

Second time round - with a girl - my nips became extremely sore. Didn't care - I had been taking Clomid after several miscarriages and was thrilled to be pregnant.

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/09/2016 14:24

I was vomiting before I missed my period.

Yay for constant, pregnancy long morning sickness.

RainbowDashian · 29/09/2016 14:39

First time around I felt really faint and dizzy about a week before my period was due, I also got really hungry but would feel sick after a few mouthfuls. A few days later I felt so utterly exhausted I could barely get out of bed, I noticed that my boobs seemed swollen and really painful.

It suddenly occurred to me I could be pregnant (unplanned) so I bought a pregnancy test which showed a faint positive. I vomited on the day my period was due and threw up several times a day until about 20 weeks.

Second time around I had no symptoms at all until about 6 weeks.
