To think I'm not unreasonable to tell sister no to this baby name?

Loveheart Belle Princess.

That is what my sister has decided the baby shall be called. She refuses to accept that I have said no and has started to refer to her as that.

Her argument is that it's a really pretty name, princesses are cool and she can call her love for short which is nice.

I think at 6 she is old enough to be told fuck no and be banned from naming anything Grin

Or am I missing out and will regret not using said name?!

DS1 was 6 when I was expecting twins, and after reading Dr Suess said that they should be called Thing 1 and Thing 2, unfortunately it stuck!

PikachuSayBoo · 22/09/2016 15:10

Dd called one of the chickens Loveheart PomPom.

Which was ok until Dh took it to the vet and stupidly told them the chickens name. They call you out the waiting room by your pets name. "Loveheart PomPom Smith" shouted across the room. Dh was a tad embarrassed.

BadToTheBone · 22/09/2016 15:10

My ds was 4 when dd was born, he picked the name "cushion" for her and he was very angry when we didn't use it, for years he refused point blank to call her by her real name. He called her "Little Lady" for 7 years until one day he decided he'd actually quite like to use her real name now, lol.

Sidge · 22/09/2016 15:20

DD1 wanted to call her sister Bacon. She was 5.

Apparently because EVERYONE loves bacon!

LoisWilkerson I met a Berlynne...

Mummydummy · 22/09/2016 15:26

Love it! The name Darling ran in my family as a middle name for a long time - after Grace Darling the lighthouse keepers daughter who rescued lots of shipwrecked sailors.

My DD called DS 'Babybrubba' and told people that was his name. My neice called him Elvis for at least 6 months because we joked about it when he was born (re his white babygrow).

Re hamsters my DS wrote this in his story of his life 'In my family we have hamsters for our pets. The first one was called Toffee Toodles, the second one Fudgey Foodles. When Toffee died my Mum threw him in the bin.' Nice mum...

BunnyBunnyMooseMoose · 22/09/2016 15:30

Derek, you are very unreasonable.
Loveheart Belle Princess is totally the best name ever.

Juanbablo · 22/09/2016 15:37

Derek the best part about dd's crazy baby names was when she went to the garden centre with her grandparents and came back with a white, fluffy, Angel Christmas decoration "for the baby". It was a white fluffy Wuffy!

CrowyMcCrowFace · 22/09/2016 15:37

Dd2 has yet to forgive me for not letting her elder siblings name her.

She would have loved to be Cillit Bang Dora & could probably have carried it off.

NickyEds · 22/09/2016 15:39

Lovely name!

My ds was due on Christmas eve and my neice and nephews wanted to call him Jesus.

paddypants13 · 22/09/2016 15:46

You can't call the baby that, I've had that name in mind for my dd since I was 3.

You're stealing my name!!! Wink

1stTimeMama · 22/09/2016 15:52

My daughter wanted to call one of her brothers Rubbish Head when she found out we having ANOTHER boy.

Reasonable I suppose.

Youarenotprepared · 22/09/2016 15:56

Absolutely not. It should be princess belle loveheart sparkle obviously.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 22/09/2016 15:59

I've actually named two of my siblings. One when I was 9 after my fav film at the time and another at 20. I just like the name and mentioned it to mum. She said she hated it

Then a month later said 'oh I've heard this name a while ago and I love it' oh the name I mentioned!

My son is going to be "Man Ham."

Which I think might be a new euphemism, thanks toddler daughter.

Soubriquet · 22/09/2016 16:03

See now you've said that Derek you HAVE to use the dogs name

derek is your sibling called Labyrinth? Or Jumanji?

dixiewishbone (starting to wonder if that's your real name) that's really given me some food for thought. I've probably ended his career in politics before it was a twinkle in his...I'll stop.

AnotherUsernameBitesTheDust · 22/09/2016 16:31

My DS wanted to name his twin siblings Rainbow Boy and Rainbow Girl. Even when I told him they were both boys he still insisted those would be their names. I didn't go with his suggestion, which I'm sure his brothers are very pleased about!

Memoires · 22/09/2016 16:50

DD had a guinea pig called Snowflake, I can't remember what she called the other one but I called them Lunch and Supper.

pugsake · 22/09/2016 17:24

My second niece is due the same time as your daughter. My first nieces name is so unique putting it on here would out me instantly Grin

Think along the line of Mercedes-Perriwinkle and you won't be far off.

I don't judge names anymore since shouting her name in public.

SlinkyVagabond · 22/09/2016 17:28

It'll be interesting when she is prime minister.

paddypants13 · 22/09/2016 17:30

My mum named my auntie. She chose Margaret after a girl who lived next door to them.

My auntie hates it. I like it personally but there you go.

One of my friends let slip he was named after his parents' dog. I have of course ribbed him mercilessly about it. Grin

Lules · 22/09/2016 17:38

My parents let my sister (aged 7) choose my middle name. Luckily she chose something sensible. They were apparently very relieved.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 22/09/2016 17:59

It's a normal boys name, a robin Williams film about a boy that ages quickly. I loved it!

We named his snails Bolt and Dash because we are hilarious. None normal names are acceptable when funny apparently

When I was expecting DS, DD (4) told me that I had to name him either:

1: Bing
2: Buckaroo

She wasn't impressed when we chose different names for him...
