To think I'm not unreasonable to tell sister no to this baby name?

Loveheart Belle Princess.

That is what my sister has decided the baby shall be called. She refuses to accept that I have said no and has started to refer to her as that.

Her argument is that it's a really pretty name, princesses are cool and she can call her love for short which is nice.

I think at 6 she is old enough to be told fuck no and be banned from naming anything Grin

Or am I missing out and will regret not using said name?!

DD 3yrs had some lovely suggestions for my baby DS including Tomato Sauce, King Triton, Poofluff Heffalump and when she discovered the gender....

Me: DD what should we call DS?
DD: A GIRL

Can you tell she wanted a sister Grin

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 22/09/2016 18:22

Jen back up the thread, shame Bing now brings to mind a search engine instead of an old time crooner of White Christmas fame Grin unless DS grows up to be an oracle of information and the nickname becomes fit for purpose.

Incidentally, Bing Crosby's real names were Harry Lillis Crosby.

Memoires · 22/09/2016 18:24

Derek, I think your sibling's name is Flubber. C'mon, admit it.

brokenbone · 22/09/2016 18:35

My nephew aged 2 insisted on calling his baby sister Rose bush. Rose is her middle name and we all call her Rose bush.

PixieMiss · 22/09/2016 18:38

Oh I loved that film!

You definitely need to call your little girl Flubber or Mrs Doubtfire, keep the theme going!

muminthecity · 22/09/2016 18:53

My DD is almost 11 and has had the same names picked out for her future children since she was about 4. I can't wait to meet my grandchildren, Mo (the girl) and Douglas (the boy)! Confused

pugsake · 22/09/2016 18:57

Derek I got the reference it's DS2's name.

Fab name Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 22/09/2016 19:06

That is substantially better than the name DD1 suggested for DD2. Baby Parp would have been the cutest, apparently.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 22/09/2016 19:21

Her name will be Mango Chocolate Fart. I think thats amazing.

Derek, dd will be so proud!

paddypants13 · 22/09/2016 20:06

Enrique - I thought of Bing Bunny!

Can you tell I'm a mum to young children? Blush

DerekSprechenZeDick · 22/09/2016 20:56

There's a (v chavvy) family near us with 2 girls who have the middle names of Loveheart and Sweetheart....

Embolio · 22/09/2016 21:33

DS2 was adamant dd should be called 'rainbow baby-babeO" or "Dan".

We exercised our veto. He still calls her Baby-BabeO. Always makes me think of Lion-O from thunder cats

WhooooAmI24601 · 22/09/2016 21:37

DS1 named DS2 Zelda when he came along to a scan while I was pregnant. DS2 is 5 years old and still known in our house as Baby Zelda. He answers to it, too.

No good ever comes of children being allowed to name anything. Our cats also have stupid names, and the rabbits are Jeremy Bumtail and Jimmy McFartpants (actually registered at the Vets and insurance company under those names). They have been banned from naming anything else.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 22/09/2016 21:39

I got to name the fish when we had them. He wasn't impressed with Shiney McFin and Fin Diesel Grin

He has a thing for issuing proper names.

Ooh - that's, umm, nice? Grin - best offering here has been Diamond Starlight Robot...Confused

Although, apparently, Derek is a spin off of Theodric. So, you could go with Theodora and have Teddy/Theo thrown in for free. Proper name for small son, nod to MN for you!

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 22/09/2016 22:49

My DB wanted to call me Huckle

TheOptimisticPessimist · 22/09/2016 22:52

I was adamant I was having a baby called Sicky when I was little... Hmm

AF77 · 22/09/2016 23:03

When I was pregnant with my DS, my DD aged 3, wanted to call him Bix (short for Weetabix) so we had Baby Bix for 9mths!! I was slightly tempted to use Bix as a middle name. She still tells people he has two names, one being Bix!!

Darkswan · 22/09/2016 23:13

ArmySal I love Winter Knight. He would definitely grow up to be rich and powerful. Or a spy.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 23/09/2016 09:21

Is it wrong that I now feel sad I don't have any stories like these? The DTS' didn't believe I was going to have a baby until I brought him home so no names to offer!

campervan07 · 23/09/2016 09:33

My 3 year old recently announced his new name was ice cream speedy dinosaur.. My sister called our cat magical balloon. Weird names must run in the family

DerekSprechenZeDick · 23/09/2016 09:45

Felica they just denied his existence Grin

DD1 was 18 months old when I was pregnant with dd2, She named her Bo. At 5 she still anwsers to bo. She "named" ds1 Aidy baby boo boo (he's called Aiden) and ds2 she "named" Beans. They have all stuck, I call them by their nicknames more than their actual names. I have been walking around soft play calling them and wondering why people have been giving me dodgy looks. I'm walking round shouting "Monkey (DD1), Bo, Baby boo boo and Beans"
