I'm aware that I may BU, but I really don't like vaping.
I don't like the big bulky vaping things that look like an old school cassette player, (Personally I think people who vape look like right plonkers!) and I don't like vaping in public!
It winds me right up - a few times I have been in places (waiting rooms, busses etc) where people aren't allowed to smoke, but they're sat there vaping... surely it should be classed as the same thing?
We don't fully understand the risks of vaping, so how do we know its not the same as smoking just yet??

YANBU. I hate people blowing big puffs of sweet smoky stuff into my face as they walk along the street and even worse, do it in shops.

I think it's a useful tool for people trying to stop smoking. But surely once you've transitioned to vaping you should be working to wean off these as well- because we don't understand the potential harm and they do look like plonkers.

But. I have never smoked so don't fully understand how hard it would be to quit and I'm overweight so no way perfect!

Those great big billows of smoke/vapour/whatever that disgusting smelling shit is are far worse than a little waft of cigarette smoke.

I thought gaping was introduced as a tool to help people give up, not just replace it.

I vape, and have done for about 3 years haven't had a cigarette in that time

When I'm at home, I use it all the time, but when I'm out & about I treat it like a cigarette, and go outside to use it.

If I'm at the cinema or the theatre, I wouldn't use it, but I would have a few puffs in the loo at the interval.

But, if I'm outside at the football, or in a beer gardenfor example, I will use it then.

I try to be as considerate as I can, but outside, I think it's fair game although I hate the smell of cigarettes outside now

Say there's a million harmful things in cigarettes (slight exaggeration) and by comparison there are one or two harmful things in e-cigs. I vape and have done so for about four years. I mostly have nicotine free liquid but occasionally use low level nicotine. I have no intention of ever giving up vaping.

I am weak willed you could say. I seem to get addicted to things other people don't. I have had many addictions in my life but I found smoking the hardest to quit. If I suddenly became unable to vape I would start smoking again soon enough.

I agree. I have no idea why so many vapers think it's ok to engulf other people in the fug. It should only be allowed in places where smoking is allowed. I wonder if it might fade away in a few generations..? I mean, surely people vape just so they are not smoking? Does anyone actually take up vaping without having been a smoker?

Surely it would have to be proven to be the same as smoking in order to treat it the same. The default position should always be that something is allowed unless there is grounds for it to be otherwise, rather than that something is disallowed until government permission is given. Freedom and that.

My friend stopped smoking without anything like that. Then took up vaping nicotine free. Now she can't get no find free so is vaping nicotine! Yes better than smoking but worse than when she had quit entirely!

It's people who have them hanging out of their mouths constantly - they didn't smoke constantly but can't put that thing away. And I hate the ones that produce massive clouds of vapour - it's like they have their head stuck in a smoke machine. And a lot of them smell sickly sweet.

Plus they're noisy! My dad, brother and sister in law were all going on theirs once and the clicking and bubbling drove me mental. My other brother bought one, mainly because he copies everything, and he didn't even smoke!

There are over 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes, of which nicotine is among the least harmful however it is highly addictive. Cigarette smoking kills around half of users (i.e. they die younger than they would have if they didn't smoke). The overwhelming logical argument for vaping is that however bad it may or may not prove to be over the long term, it cannot possibly be as harmful as smoking.

To say you're offended by vaping vapour is like saying you're offended by other people's perfume. I congratulate anyone who has moved from smoking to vaping, as they have improved their health and my environment overnight.

Wow, lucky you, you've found another way to look down on people! Even ones tackling their smoking!

I'm not a vaper or a smoker, but disliking people for vaping is really odd.

I have never been 'engulfed in a billowing cloud of vape' sitting outside anywhere, and indoors the few colleagues that use them use them discretely. There is no discernible risk to your health (e.g. that would require health and safety protection or breaks ambient indoor air guidance).

All this nastiness and stigmatizing people is why pregnant women who smoke end up doing so secretly and don't go for help to quit any more, or take up vaping even though it might be considerably better for their babies.

It's such a shame that something which is so much better for smokers than smoking is still looked down on.

I am not a twat- Just someone who struggled to give up an addiction. I might look like a dick but better a vaping dick than a dying of smoking related illness dick.

I don't vape anywhere where I wouldn't have smoked (except toilets) unless I have permission to do so. Most places don't allow you to vape inside, not even pubs. I can produce a huge amount of vape if I want to, but I don't. I mouth inhale and turn the controls down so no one has to be engulfed in my vape.

I don't mind it. It's better than peeps who cover themselves in perfume and waft around the stench of flowers and vodka.

Whenever I see a vaper though I do expect them to stat playing a little tune in the manner of the Pied Piper. Kind of disappointing when that doesn't happen.

Why do you think that is? There is actually a reason why people vape more than they smoke. But it's more fun to judge us than actually look into why we vape more than we ever smoked.

I think you're being really bratty tbh. Why are you to think your opinion on what other people do is important? And you're massively exaggerating the smell, whether deliberately to get all riled up or you're just imagining it.

Well, don't vape then.

I vape, I don't vape where I wouldn't have smoked; in public at least. I vape around my kids when I wouldn't have smoked around them, because I've read enough research to be happy doing so. Outside when other people's kids are around, I ask if they mind, which is probably more consideration than most smokers show. I'm over a year fag-free now and wouldn't have done it without vaping. I don't care if some people think I look silly, it's a lot less silly than dying of lung cancer.

There are lots of things I don't like being exposed to - really sickly strong perfume, other people's BO, people eating hot or smelly food in confined spaces like cinemas, other people's children - but the world doesn't revolve around me so I suck it up. Suggest you do likewise.

The reason people vape more than they smoke is because the level of nicotine they get is much lower so they need to use it more regularly, especially if they are trying to quit. Smoking is a much more effective nicotine delivery device, but it kills more than one in two of its users. Fairly obvious to use one that's safer.

Vaping cannabis would also be safer than smoking joints.

An those that say people who vape should be restricted to only vaping in areas dedicated to smoker think about that for one moment.. A person turns to vaping to give up smoking and then you want to plonk them next to people puffing out reems of poisonous smoke? so its not ok that you might now and again have to smell the vape cloud of strawberries and cream but ok for Vapers to Passive smoke?
