to hate vaping...

I'm aware that I may BU, but I really don't like vaping.
I don't like the big bulky vaping things that look like an old school cassette player, (Personally I think people who vape look like right plonkers!) and I don't like vaping in public!
It winds me right up - a few times I have been in places (waiting rooms, busses etc) where people aren't allowed to smoke, but they're sat there vaping... surely it should be classed as the same thing?
We don't fully understand the risks of vaping, so how do we know its not the same as smoking just yet??

I think vaping is great. My dp managed to kick a longstanding dangerous chainsmoking habit with vaping and has now been cigarette free for a year which has improved his health so much. I think its really mean to complain about vapers being twats or looking like idiots or whatever. Some of the vaping stuff smell a bit weird, but it dissipates much quicker than smoke.
These people are giving up or have given up a deadly habit. Im really pleased for them and think its completely non-offensive in comparison

We were in the basement of a Starbucks a year or so back and a couple were vaping in there. The place was soon filled with clouds of sickly sweet vapour.
There's a hipster sort who lives nearby (big bushy beard, man bun) and he walks around vaping from what looks like an old fashioned pipe. He looks a real twat.

However, I only use it at home out the garden and never out in public. I've read a lot about the safety of them around children and other people and I'm really not convinced, werent cigarettes thought to be good for you years ago? Plus I can't stand the smell of the juice my dh uses so I wouldn't want to make other people smell mine
I think people who use them in the school yard are the worst.

I commend people giving up smoking, and maybe vaping is better than smoking - ultimately, if people want to vape, they're going to. I still think they look like wallies though. (I'm sure I look like a wally too half the time, so maybe I shouldn't judge)
My issue is when people vape in a place where they Would not be able to smoke - so if you aren't allowed to smoke in a Doctors waiting room, you shouldn't be able to vape there, if you aren't allowed to smoke on a train, again, you shouldn't be able to vape there.

You can't smoke in waiting rooms or trains though.

Agree. Hate the look of it and hate the smell of it plus I'm not convinced it's as harmless as the Vapers try and claim.

I think they were considered good as stress relief. And stress is a big killer.

But does stress kill more people than smoking??

I don't mind it. It's better than peeps who cover themselves in perfume and waft around the stench of flowers and vodka.

Ha ha - my thoughts exactly. The number of people leaving a foul slick or "perfume" stench behind them is far more annoying.

DP vapes. I hate it. I hate it so much. I hate his dependency on it and I hate its gurgling and I hate hate hate it when he does it near me and DD - if in 10 years they prove it's bad for you, how selfish will that be?? Urrrrgh.

I don't have anything against vapers vaping per se. But I do wish my DH would give his up. He's constantly on it and he smells sickly sweet all the time.

One of my favourite things so far about being pregnant is the fact he does it outside now, not in bed or in the car anymore. I'm hoping he gives up completely but not holding my breath.

Yabvu. Some perfume smells horrible. Should I ban those too? It if more harmful walking past a busy road with all the car fumes than it is stood next to someone vaping. It is just vapour! And this is coming from someone who has never vaped. I used to smoke though.

YABU - People who vape are trying to or have given up smoking! They are trying to better themselves and should be supported not criticised!

I think you are being BVFU. People are saying they look dreadful but I think the same about heavy tattoos and some sorts of makeup, and a lot of aftershaves set my asthma off, but I wouldn't think it was any of my business to complain to innocent people about their taste in personal grooming. People don't live to please me.

Looks like vaping is going to save potentially millions of lives. Get a grip and find something less useful and beneficial to bitch about.

I think vaping is a great thing, has done a lot to help people quit and much preferable to smoking, but those big cloud producing ones are very anti social. There's no need for it.

Dh smoked for 20+ years. The only thing that helped him stop was vaping. His quality of life has improved and he's now fitter and healthier rather than huffing and puffing. He no longer stinks and I enjoy kissing him again. It's been two years. If nicotine is the only harmful ingredient then by my reckoning that probably puts him on a level with the majority of the population who either drink caffeine or alcohol (or both!)

Vaping should be subject to the same research and therefore appropriate regulations and controls (based on actual potential risk to both active and passive vapers) as cigarettes and alcohol. The problem is the lack of reliable research, which isn't forthcoming because vaping will likely signal the death toll for cigarette companies. Every early indication is that doing it is very much safer (up to 95% safer) than cigarette smoking. I do wish people would at least attempt to see through bigger health picture. So they look ugly! Who actually cares if it cuts down on cancer and heart disease? And as for the 'smell' they're much less offensive than cigarettes and many perfumes and aftershaves!

Of course it needs regulating based on evidence. But thousands of people have finally kicked the smelly and dangerous habit of smoking thanks to vaping. I also detest how vapers are forced to do it in places allocated to smokers. They are not the same, at all. All we are doing is encouraging them to take up smoking again. Ridiculous.

I've never vaped, but i quite like the smell of them, especially the grapey ones.

I don't smoke (used to) or vape. But I too quite like the smell of vaping. Like dry ice at a disco which I love.

Mark my words vape addicts, they will find evidence it's bad for you. You are inhaling something that isn't air. It won't end well. Great if it weans you have cigarettes but don't kid yourselves it will prove harmless.
