AIBU?

To be dog broody?

Grin

It's a beautiful day and the sun is shining and I want to run across the hills with a dog.

I have no dog Sad

So AIBU to make a huge soppy fuss of dogs I meet on my travels and not care when they place their muddy paws on my shoulders and stare lovingly into my eyes ... ?

Dogs - we have far too many! Four when daughters are home from uni, with two being the norm when they're away. It's going to rise to three as the norm at home (getting another GSD) and seven when daughters are home as they're having another one each (due to going their own ways once eldest daughter finishes uni).

I feel we may have then exceeded our dog quota!

I've found that most people aren't too keen on a GSD running up to them :) She's well trained though and comes to call :)

I have a lab and a rescue smooth coated collie, the collie has a pointy nose and I've yet to find his off switch, I'm sure he'd be up for being borrowed. Oh and he got a first in the rescue section of our local dog show ( I cried with pride)

Ah Bassets Grin ..hence user name . Don't have the long ears but the wrinkled splayed out feet sadly . The ears that get in way of everything from drinking bowl to paint pots .
So dog broody . Can't have one as mainly housebound now but I so love these threads .
Dogsit sometimes for a beagle Shock . A real character . He loves to sit next to DH watching ' Escape to the Country' and especially 'Pointless' .
I don't get look in . Welcome him into house with silly dog voice with arms outstretched ....he zooms past me yodelling with joy to greet DH .
Now then house cat . Mmmm.

He's gorgeous MissBea. I am mega dog broody but work full time and commute so no go. My top breeds are pug, mini sausage, Frenchie, English bulldog, and Boston Terrier.

I hear you ballet - I have three rescues and would love a puppy (but no more until there's a vacancy) ... as PP said, would you maybe think about BorrowMyDoggy? Smile

Dogs are brilliant. I have owned 4.

Dogs are brilliant when the weather is brilliant and you have a day off to run over the hills together.

BUT.

They need almost full time company ( they are pack animals after all) they shit in your garden, vomit on your carpet, leave hairs and mud everywhere.
And a huge amount of exercise. Unless you want to commit to twice daily walks in the dark.freezing rain and on constant shit scooping then good.
Dogs need walking whether you or your kids are ill, rushed, or when the novelty wears off.

I follow a load of Bassets on Instagram and I love them all so much. My favourites are the duos that look totally in love, I screenshot them and send them to DP daily Grin

Would love a dog, had boxers for years but we're not really in a position to have one at the moment.

I'm thinking of volunteering with the Cinnamon trust to get my doggy fix

I'm currently fostering a dog that is looking for a forever home (this will probably completely 'out' me! But I don't make many posts anyway) if anyone is interested. Xx

I'm going to watch this thread patiently in the hope that people start posting photos of their dogs...I LOVE it when that happens.

I have a pointy dog! I rescued a hairy puppy who turned into a massive monster. He's half deerhound half greyhound. We didn't really know this until he finally stopped growing. I find him adorable and wonderful but a complete arse sometimes. He's also a total mummy's boy - basically unless I am around he's a bit miserable. He's never happier than when I'm sat on the bed and he's cuddled up next to me. I had a dog shaped hole in my life for years and it was never the right time. Now I have a dog walker, there's a lot of walking early and evening and money shelled out to make him happy. But boy is it worth it. He makes our family totally complete, desire the fact he woke me at 0300 because (I think) he was cold.

But I am also dog broody and would have more if I could. More pointy dogs because they are rather addictive.

I'm Slinky and I am dog broody after a lifetime of being a cat person. Specifically for a wire haired fox terrier. We aren't having one until our cat snuffs it, we get a new bathroom(and kitchen) and we can afford one. I still lurk on the selling pages of the WHFoxy associations and coo over puppies regularly though.
We met a lovely sheepdog pup today, she was on a lead and the owner only let her come for a fuss if people asked. I could make an exception for her.

Love all the cute dog pictures. I made dh pull over the other day so I could get out the car to fuss over 2 lovely dogs. They were gorgeous bulldogs and the owner was used to it quite happy! I love a squidgy face.

I get my fix from Instagram too! I do have a dog but he's 8 and veering into grumpy old man territory already. That said, he often acts like a puppy too. He's the worst of both worlds! Aargh. Don't get a dog, OP. They might look cute but when they're eating chunks of your sofa and digging up your plants, you'll feel differently. I love him dearly but he's going through a naughty phase. The fact that he's insanely cute, snuggly, sweet and loving doesn't make up for it. Ok, I lied, it does make up for it. Get a dog!
