To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

My rescue Persians. Cost me £400 and a fortune in vets fees and food etc ever since but have been the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. Grin
And a Dyson cordless to deal with the cat hair. It's brilliant!

My conservatory; it cost £30K and a bit more in 2001, but it is wonderful. Underfloor heating so it is cosy in winter, faces east so it is pleasant through hot weather; big, we once had 29 people for a sit down meal in it, lots of climbing plants so it looks pretty. We use it all the time, can't think how we lived without it.

Ive only ever bought myself two " top of the range" luxury things. A Brompton folding bike and a mulberry handbag. Both still lovely, and make me smile. Both would cost considerably more to buy now than they did when I bought them. Sometimes I think the expensive things are worth it.

pictish · 10/09/2016 18:35

My Campomaggi bag - cost an eyewatering amount (to me) but suits me perfectly and gets better with age.

MaidOfStars · 10/09/2016 18:35

seagull You have an original Eames lounge chair, or a newer one (Vitra?)? I have a repro and I love it!

Mine would be my wedding dress. Worth every penny of the -many thousands of- pounds spent. Couldn't really argue it's good value though. Maybe the Dyson cordless. My husband nominates his PS4, in a 'pounds per happiness hour' spent.

Blondeshavemorefun CONGRATULATIONS! I've read many of your posts over the years and I'm so pleased to read you have a baby on the way.

WaitrosePigeon · 10/09/2016 18:38

Bugaboo for me too. We sold on the Cameleon and Bee not far off from the price we paid for them originally.

ravenia · 10/09/2016 18:39

My car, being free of buses is priceless.

My DMs are also worth the pricetag

NewBallsPlease00 · 10/09/2016 18:40

Ghd straighteners
Sky tv & Netflix - we can't go out so it's our luxury
Mulberry bag, because I was 25, got a bonus and made me feel like I'd professionally succeeded, and they were still well made in uk at time!
My phone. I use it all the time and face time what's app etc invaluable for keeping in touch with my very global family outs self no doubt

FoxgloveSeptember · 10/09/2016 18:42

My diamond wedding ring. It took us over 2 years to pay for but I still admire it daily 6 years into married life. We said when we got engaged that we would splurge on the 2 things you keep, rings and photos. We paid a fortune for both but both were totally worth it. So much so with the photos that everyone in my family that has got married since has used the same photographer!

FoxgloveSeptember · 10/09/2016 18:43

Oh and blondes- huge congratulations!! I felt choked reading your post GrinFlowers

BasicMadeira · 10/09/2016 18:45

Good bed linen, several hundreds of euros spent on it and it is a pleasure to sleep in every night. Also excellent duvet but the pillows are not up to scratch.
GHDs are also well worth the money.

Haggischucker · 10/09/2016 18:45

Surprisingly, a mattress and full merino wool bedding set from a blanket trip in Spain on holiday! It was the best impulse buy (full of sangria) 8 years ago and going strong! Was around £2k but worth every penny, best mattress I've ever had and look forward to bed every night 🙂

FitbitAddict · 10/09/2016 18:45

My MacBook Air. Beats WIndows hands down.

My Coccinelle handbag I bought as a reward for myself for completing my MA (£144 reduced from £320).

Bambooshoots14 · 10/09/2016 18:46

Blondeshavemorefun congratulations Flowers

ManaFleet · 10/09/2016 18:46

Blondes - congratulations!

JockMonsieur · 10/09/2016 18:47

my lovely, lovely bed
it's feather and black. I think the frame was £500 and and the mattress £800. For context pretty much every other bit of furniture in our house is IKEA. Our cheap, uncomfy old bed was falling apart just at the time DH got a big overtime payment, and every single night I am grateful we spent the lot on the bed.

Cary2012 · 10/09/2016 18:48

Toffeelatteplease. You must get a pair, mine were about £80 which was a lot for me when I bought them, but they are brilliant. I want another pair, but these buggers won't wear out!! [rushes off to Amazon just to have a browse]

Bambooshoots14 · 10/09/2016 18:48

FoxgloveSeptember picture please!

Mirandawest · 10/09/2016 18:49

Congratulations Blondes - that's lovely news Smile

My thing is my Sonos speakers. I love them 😊

CigarsofthePharoahs · 10/09/2016 18:51

My Kenwood Chef Titanium. Eye watering price tag and then add on the accessories I wanted, but it's brilliant! I used to make a lot of pasta and bread with it - less so now that ds2 has sapped most of my energy, but I'm getting back into things.
My memory foam topped mattress. Sleeping is no longer painful!
Our tent. I agreed to camping holidays on the condition that we did it in comfort. We have a Sprayway Valley 6 in polycotton and its huge and comfortable and not too bad to put up now we've done it a lot! We've had it for 6 years and it's still got plenty of life in it yet. I have already decided that when it dies we're going to get an Airbeam.
DH's glasses. We could have gone for the Specsavers cheap pairs, but he suited two pairs in particular that were expensive. He needed the lenses thinned and lightened as far a possible, plus coatings... even with the bogof I gasped.
Still, it means he doesn't rely on contacts all the time, they're good quality and make him look bloody good. Hopefully they'll last 20 years like the previous pair he had!

needsahalo · 10/09/2016 18:51

Radley handbags.

MrsCharlieD · 10/09/2016 18:52

My mulberry bayswater. 5 years of heavy use and it still looks great. My healthbeds king-size, it was 2 well spent. Last but not least purchase house. We'll be paying it off until we're 70 but we've worked so hard for it and every time I come through the front door it makes me smile.
