To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

My custom made Matrix Leather coat, bought 12 years ago at Covent Garden for £1200, still wear it to this day!!

EJ13 · 11/09/2016 21:37

My Dyson hairdryer! Crazy price, but my hair is genuinely smoother and nicer. I also like not needing a brush to dry my hair and don't burn myself when swizzing the nozzle around. It's easier to manage too with the motor in the handle. I should explain that I have masses of hair (thick and fine with a wave), so have had issues with old fashioned hair dryers and never got a nice smooth finish without a hairdresser attached!!

The flight to Oz to get to my partner's side as his father was passing away. It was crazy money and also a complete bargain.
Many say that they will go to the ends of the earth for someone, I actually did and would do again.

Next best: teeth.
My health insurance covered the most part, but I had a co-pay plus whitening. Life changing after having been bullied forever about my overbite, done over 10 years ago and never regretted.

Congratulations for all the babies! Flowers
(And I agree on Le Creuset, but collected mine from TK Maxx ha ha)

My Boots Smooth Skin Gold. The best £300 I ever spent. I so love not having hairs on my legs.

IntravenousCaffeine · 11/09/2016 21:40

My cleaner - it's a luxury but she saves me constantly stressing over cleaning the house every week.

My engagement ring - it cost nearly 10k but it's something I will hopefully wear for the rest of my married days and is worth every penny

Denby pasta bowls, used every day for 13 years now and still looking great. Even with little knocks they don't chip. Some Habitat ones purchased much later chip at the slightest thing and have really made me realise how good the Denby ones are.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 11/09/2016 21:53

oh I'm glad to hear these good reports coming in about the Dyson hair dryer... anyone used it to still keep their hair curly, but also shiny? (not asking the moon here...).

Another one for me is a gardener, well not particularly trained or anything but just someone who does the chopping and cutting down and trimming back and things. Only every six weeks or so, and not for very long each time, but I used to stress so much about doing it and get fed up. and he does so much more than I do per hour, that's it's absolutely worth it, even though I feel guilty at not doing it myself as there's really not much to do.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 11/09/2016 21:56

My horses Grin They drive me mad some days and cost me every penny I have and more but I love the very bones of them

Olivialoves · 11/09/2016 21:58

Yes! Aigle neoprene lined wellies. £130+ but still look like brand new 3 years on.

MacBook Pro. £1400. Was going through a HP every 18mths. Like new 2 years on.

PickAChew · 11/09/2016 21:58

We have the Denby pasta bowls - best part of 2 decades old, now.

Eat most of our meals out of them! Not lost one yet!

RubbleChaseRocky · 11/09/2016 22:02

My 12 year old Dyson. I love her. She is older than all of my children and I've promised she can have a 16th birthday party if she makes it.

Curviest · 11/09/2016 22:04

Memory foam mattress!

tiggertigger · 11/09/2016 22:05

My Range Rover. £36k worth every penny.

PickAChew · 11/09/2016 22:07

Actually, I love my fitbit to bits and felt bereft when I got home one day and realised I'd lost my charge - went out the next morning and replaced it with acharge HR, which I love even more.

Not as much as my beautiful stereo, previously mentioned, though.

Super king size bed from John Lewis. Best investment as both DH and I have a good night's sleep and he doesn't snore anymore (partly due to decent pillows but support along the spine helps)

Another "money well spent" item was the JL home design service, which costs £300 but is refunded from the money spent on curtains and blinds. No chasing around trying to match colours and styles, they create a colour board with options to choose from. next time we redecorate we can use other base colours from the curtains to make a new look.

LucyintheskywithRainbows · 11/09/2016 22:08

tag watch, my diamond studs (wedding day gift from dh), global knives and my lulu guinness/Kate Spade bags.
I'd rather spend more on something good quality that lasts.

SplinteryBottom · 11/09/2016 22:08

My paddleboard (SUP), we used it loads the first summer. Not so much last year and I briefly wondered if it was a mistake investing in one.

It's been out at least once a week this summer, kids have been on and off it all the time, absolutely love it.

user1471456822 · 11/09/2016 22:08

Lol at the birthday party for the hoover!

Liebherr fridge when I bought my house then!

Apols for split post!

LightDrizzle · 11/09/2016 22:16

My KitchenAid, my engagement ring and our VW California Campervan.

PhilomenaFlump · 11/09/2016 22:18

Private maternity care. For those that have Dubarry boots are they heavy? They look lovely but my hips can't take heavy boots.

Middleoftheroad · 11/09/2016 22:23

Dyson V6 Fluffy
Dual view dash cam

mylaptopismylapdog · 11/09/2016 22:23

My kids.
My house.
Dual it toaster.
Russell and bromley boots.
Cashmere knitwear which is light warm and a treat to wear and last for years.
Nice family meals at home or away.

Rowenag · 11/09/2016 22:23

I love this thread!!! I have realised reading this that I have never treated myself to anything expensive apart from holidays but I am definitely now going to save up and try to buy a comfortable mattress / bed and a cordless Hoover. V aspirational - thanks!
