To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

Harry Brioche's Suffolk landscape paintings; 'heart lifts every time I look at them.

Sleepybeanbump - we had the Uppababy Vista. I completely loved it. DD slept in the pram top until she was 4 months old as she hated the moses basket.

funfunapple £25k?! Shock

  1. Spending my inheritance on a fantastic family holiday to the US. There were plenty of things we probably needed more but we had been camping only for 10 years. We went for 3 weeks and fitted in New York, California and the Grand Canyon. The DC still talk about it 3 years later.
  1. Buying a house in Trafford for the schools
  1. Being a SAHM for 5 years followed by local term time work. HUGE drop in salary. I used to earn more in a month than I did in a year as a TA. But worth every penny to me and the family.

My Infinity Orbit 245 inflatable one person kayak. I love being able to paddle out to the middle of a huge lake and just be on my own, with no-one to bother me! Grin

TheBannistersOfLife · 11/09/2016 21:03

My goose down duvet - worth every penny out of our wedding present money 6 years ago.

Sunshineonacloudyday · 11/09/2016 21:08

My 50L Brabantia bin. I ummed and aahed in the shop, because it was very expensive for a bin. And there are much cheaper, similar looking shiny bins. But we used to have a similar looking shiny bin, and it got dented and went rusty very quickly.

I bloody love our Brabantia one. 5 years on, and it looks as good as new. Clever design, which means you can't see the bin bags (unless it's open). Very easy to clean. It's just lovely! Smile

derxa · 11/09/2016 21:10

it has a tomb Shock Is that a specialist term I know nothing about?

FancyFlaps · 11/09/2016 21:12

T25 VW campervan. Glastonbury was still a hideous queue-ey, muddy mess, but at least we didn't have to fart about with tents.

Ridiculously indulgent pillows (mine £65, she's £85) as Dreams messed up our delivery and compensated us £150. We'd already bought a new duvet and bedsheets to go with the new bed (and had to sleep on a destroyed futon for a month as I'd freegled our bed Angry)

Any children's clothes from Boden. They never bobble.

phlebasconsidered · 11/09/2016 21:14

My leather sofa. It cost 6 hundred quid which is still the most I've ever spent on anything bar the actual house.

It has survived ten years of den building, the dog, vomit, split nappies, mud, food, play doh, pva glue spillage, wine and much more. It has only got comfier as it's sagged a bit.

Loulou0 · 11/09/2016 21:15

My Dyson hairdryer. £300. It has changed my life. Well, my hair anyway. Halved the time of my blowdries and makes my hair shiny and swishy.

tighterthanscrooge · 11/09/2016 21:15

When I was having the DDs I had a private room both times, was lovely to do my own thing without other people traipsing around and DP could stay with me. Well worth the cost

Lampie · 11/09/2016 21:20

My electric bike. It's turned a 2 to 2.5 hour daily commute to 50 mins, and because its electric I don't turn up at work all red faced and sweaty

Cromwell1536 · 11/09/2016 21:21

Absolutely with Blondes. Darling boy also IVF/ICSI baby. Cost £0000s, best ever, no doubt at all. xxx congratulations

Futon · 11/09/2016 21:23

My pressure cooker, Kuhn Rikon duromatic, turned 21 years old this year. In all that time it's needed one new valve cap, one valve and a handle (the handle was accidental damage), all parts can be ordered online and are still compatible.

I think it's wonderful! (have had to name change because I rave about it to anyone who looks remotely interested)

Pikawhoo · 11/09/2016 21:25

A really really good mattress and decent bedlinen.

My third-hand Bugaboo Frog. Ok, this wasn't expensive for me as I bought it for £70 three years ago, but it was originally an expensive item (£500+ new). Loved so much that I've just put it in storage in case any of my favourite people decide to procreate in future. Great quality, easy to replace/wash bits, and a pleasure to use.

A made-to-measure bookshelf for an awkward space. Felt decadent and probably unnecessary; turned out really really make a difference to the whole room.

Art that I really like. I look at it and enjoy it daily.

A blanket from Melin Tregwynt woollen mill.

Strangely enough all of the diamond bling I bought with my bonuses (from what feels like another lifetime) would not be on this list. I almost never wore them. And I regret the DSLR; I never used it much.

treacletoffee23 · 11/09/2016 21:26

My Meile washer/dryer and my caravan Smile

PrimalLass · 11/09/2016 21:29

Definitely the bugaboo.

Tapandgo · 11/09/2016 21:32

TighterThanScrouge thank you

Wrenniecat1970 · 11/09/2016 21:34

2 Mulberry Bayswater handbags. One black one brown. Now 13 years old. One or other used everyday since i got them. I have never bought another hand bag since nor do I think I ever will. Well, certainly not another Mulberry.

Pikawhoo · 11/09/2016 21:34

Oh and Le Creuset casserole dish. Ten years later and it's still going strong.
