I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

Dualit toaster that has lasted 19 years
My engagement ring from Tiffany's New York (it wasn't exactly the cheapest but very close Smile)
Kenwood Chef Titanium plus lots of accessories - use it every day
Two Mulberry handbags - blue and black patent leather - very special
Dyson cordless vacuums - one upstairs, one downstairs
Instant Pot pressure cooker - also use it every day
iPhone 6+
IPad Air
IMac
Le Creuset tri-ply stainless steel pans - marvellous
Full set of Global knives

I suddenly feel very privileged - but I enjoy all these things and truly appreciate them

My harpsichord - I'd always wanted to play one and I decided to blow a legacy on me rather than the kids - hours of fun even if we then had to buy a bigger car to transport it with .......

alibubbles · 11/09/2016 19:53

blondes so happy for you, you deserve every happiness!

My expensive purchase was our £10K Vi spring bed, Superking size, two different tension mattresses, ziplink, hand built, wool, horsehair, silk, it is bliss!

Mintybuttons · 11/09/2016 19:56

My breast reduction. Worth every single penny and changed my life.

Zbag14 · 11/09/2016 19:58

My dyson animal.
My personalised pandora charm.
My tumbler dryer
I love them all ☺️

runreadlaugh · 11/09/2016 20:04

Our touring caravan, £11k, 6 years ago. We've had 7 fantastic summer holidays in it, as well as weekends away, and it doubled up as a home office when I needed space to study. It makes me so happy to just go and sit in it and havd a cup of tea, even when it's parked outside the house!

My kids education was definitely worth it. My mulberry handbag, I smile every time I use it. A MacBook Air, perfect for me but seemed v expensive at the time and has outlasted all my previous laptops

Flozle · 11/09/2016 20:13

My car. I had wanted a convertible since I was eight, and I have no words the describe the pure joy I have when I drive with the roof down. It was ridiculously expensive but worth every penny.

Busydays13 · 11/09/2016 20:15

For me it's easy - it's something which was for me and just me - walking past a painting which every morning on my way to work made me think of the bigger picture and what the generations before us sacrificed - and one day when going through a difficult patch - deciding to buy it....... it serves no purpose but everytime I look at it - it takes me away from this world and reminds me of the bigger picture and how lucky I am....... as Mastercard would say - priceless!!!!

comfortblankie · 11/09/2016 20:18

IPhone 5 and my Parlux hairdryer. Saving time and wasting time every morning Grin

Millie2013 · 11/09/2016 20:19

Busy, thats lovely :)

ReadyToSignOff · 11/09/2016 20:22

My time... I stopped work to stay at home with DCs until they started school (studying for an OU degree at home at the same time). Since then I have almost always worked part time and now I do a lot of my work from home too. I know I am lucky to be able to do this - next year DH retires so fingers crossed I can carry on!

tighterthanscrooge · 11/09/2016 20:27

My many pairs of ugg boots I love them all!
DPs iPad I bought him for his birthday
And although I didn't buy it myself, the ring my mum bought me for my 21st birthday, it cost an absolute fortune but I wear it everyday and it means the world to me
Also spending £150 every 6 weeks getting my hair done (DP thinks it's £30) Blush

funfunapple · 11/09/2016 20:29

My vintage Rolex, 40 th birthday present from DH

DC2's school fees, I dread to think what kind of state she would be in of we had kept her at her state primary. DC3 is at the same school and also worth it but would have thrived anywhere

North Face Brooklyn coat. I don't do black hooded mummy coats but it's so warm and dry when I'm watching football in the depths of winter. It does go straight back into the car once the match is over though

Babysitters through Sitters. We use them most weekends and it means that DH & I have a social life

DH's car. He bought himself a top of the range luxury car last year. I rarely drive it as its manual and I only like auto's but it was a treat to himself for doing so well at work and it gives him enormous pleasure and as a result it gives me pleasure too

DS1's barmitzvah 3 months ago. It cost an absolute fortunate, over £25k, but he's an incredible boy and we wanted it to be very special for him. It was everything we ever dreamed of and we had a really crappy wedding for lots of reasons, paid for an controlled by our parents and this put all those horrible memories to bed and was the best weekend of all of our lives.

Homeriliad · 11/09/2016 20:32

My private jet. Very expensive, but I travel a lot to New York and it's worth it not to have to deal with check-in every time.

LowMaintenance101 · 11/09/2016 20:34

FoxgloveSeptember - that is totally my theory about weddings. Spend on photos and rings. Everything else is for one day only.

MN164 · 11/09/2016 20:34

This thread is like "Overheard in Harrods" crossed with the "Generation Game" conveyor belt prize round.

The demographic is not totally uniform but it's a very narrow spread!

Love it.

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2016 20:36

Going travelling/holidays as much as possible. They are worth every penny.

Lizzylou · 11/09/2016 20:41

Our holiday last year to the Caribbean, £££s but was the celebrate some very major life events and DH's return to good health.

Other than that, our house, it is very much a work in progress but it is our haven, despite being a complete money pit.

dementedma · 11/09/2016 20:43

Bloody hell. Are some of these posts real?

MaQueen · 11/09/2016 20:43

My private consultant gynaecologist, who has rooms just off Harley Street. £650 for a 30 minute consultation + bloods.

I am severely progesterone intolerant, so need specialist HRT. He's given me my life back.

Tapandgo · 11/09/2016 20:44

tighterthanscrooge can you tell us what you get done for that?
I often wonder what a reasonable price should be and would like a clue or two

falange · 11/09/2016 20:47

My dermalogica cleanser, moisturiser and other stuff. All bought by other people as presents but changed my red, lumpy, spotty skin into something looking normal.

LowMaintenance101 · 11/09/2016 20:47

Pet insurance for our ginger fur bomb. He is the dog of a lifetime.
Dubarry boots. Just perfect.
