To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

Brainrack I have a Roomba - it's not a top of the range one with a timer, it's one that you have to press the 'go' button yourself when you want to use it.
If I was buying again I'd probs get one that goes on automatically when I'm out.

It goes between carpet, Lino & laminate with no problems and you can contain it where there's no natural obstacle with a 'virtual wall' which is just a battery operated little thing you can buy separate.

I usually clear the floor area of cables etc as it does chew them up, but it stops itself if this happens anyway - if it comes across an obstacle it just sort of gently bumps off it and trundles off.
It also has a 'cliff edge sensor' thing which stops it falling off down the stairs.

I often pop it on when I go up to bed, so the next morning I come down to clean floors - it's ace!!

This thread is torture. Scrolling through is like pressing a bruise. Apart from the IVF children and mobility scooter, that is.

My lovely Lilac Colourpoint cat.

Where my Neato does have a timer so can set off during the day etc

So come home to a clean home :)

Or set off as I go to bed

Laser hair removal / IPL.

That idea that if you solve one thing you dislike about your appearance, you find another flaw to focus on instead? Load of rubbish as far as I'm concerned. Felt so much better about myself ever since it started to make a visible difference. And the effects have lasted pretty well for the last 8-10 years.

My caravan. I used to scoff at caravanners, then we bought one to help my DD, who has sn, because she struggles to settle on holiday.

I love it so much, I went away alone in it when my school had an extra week off at Whit.

I'd live in it if I could.

HMJ1 · 11/09/2016 19:04

My camper van

Twink · 11/09/2016 19:05

The thing I was most 🙀 about was our Thule towbar-mounted bike rack as it plus the towbar attachment cost about £600 but I can honestly say it has been worth every penny, will tilt fully loaded so can get in the boot, built in LED lightboard, no more freezing my bits off while trying to remove muddy wheels and load them inside. Just fab.

Feargalthecat · 11/09/2016 19:08

My sister loved her Roomba until she set it to vacuum while she was at work one day but came home to find that her dog must've done a poo and the Roomba had kindly then smeared it over every area of the living room floorConfused

My kindle
Samsung TV bought in 2006 and still works fine.
GHDs bought in 2004 and still fine (although not used that often anymore)

I hope will be a good investment: The £600 career counselling I've just signed up for...hope it changes my whole life!!

Cordychase · 11/09/2016 19:09

My Not Your Daughters jeans, cost me £150, but they fit brilliantly without having acres of spare material round the waist. I struggle finding pants and jeans that fit, I have a small waist and curvy hips. For some reason manufacturers seem to think no one has a waist anymore.

user1471456822 · 11/09/2016 19:14

Interesting that no-one said their fitbit! (I don't think!)

Would love to hear from dyson hairdryer owners! (will do a search actually)

Actually, some of my best purchases have been quite cheap:

£30 lakeland ceramic wok - goes in the dishwasher
£50 my cat from the cat rescue!

hotdiggedy · 11/09/2016 19:16

I'm actually struggling to think of anything! i do have a nice cabinet I bought a few years ago. I really like the colour and design. The problem is that it isnt very great storage wise and I was supposed to be shopping for something practical!

Can I ask about the robot hoovers? What happens if you have loose threads? Does it chew your carpet to pieces?

LouTheMac · 11/09/2016 19:17

My parlux hairdryer cost £80 a good few years ago now. Before that I had a new one every year as they burnt out! (Thick hair!) dries my hair much quicker.

DS age 3 boden clothes! They last and I love them.

pontynan · 11/09/2016 19:19

My Aga.

Titsywoo · 11/09/2016 19:25

My extension! Huge kitchen diner and bigger lounge. Has made life so much easier.

user1471456822 · 11/09/2016 19:25

In further praise of my wok, it has a large, flat bottom (like mine actually) and has a lid with a steam escape hole to keep in splatters.

I use it to cook practically everything in terms of frying (healthily, with olive oil)

The food just glides off, it is so non-stick!

I also love their green coloured milk pan. For doing any other boiling or frying.

Galdos · 11/09/2016 19:25

Having all my NHS fillings replaced 36 years ago ... cleaned me out at the time (£300!) but they have all lasted

BigFatGoalie · 11/09/2016 19:25

My Mulberrys. Use them every day and still love them worth every (£1000!!) penny.
My Kenwood Chef Titanium, sold biscuits at fayres just to save up to get that!
My Canon DSL. Althoigh not used as much now that I can just take photos on my phone...

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 11/09/2016 19:27

My dressage horse. A long time ago now but she was a little piece of perfect in my life.

Bambooshoots14 · 11/09/2016 19:36

user please change your username is this the wok? www.lakeland.co.uk/16002/Colourful-Ceramica-Cookware-Blue-Lidded-Wok---28cm

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 11/09/2016 19:38

Magi mix blender and mixer. Keep having to replace cheaper ones. These last and last. Same with all my kitchen / home electrics come to think of it. The cheap ones haven't lasted.

CurlyMango · 11/09/2016 19:39

Hotdigeddy . Loose greats and carpet/tug tassels are fine. We have shoes pulled by thier laces occasional. But all it pulls out and ok

user1471456822 · 11/09/2016 19:41

Yeah! That's the wok!

(Maybe I will change my username to something Lakeland-related)

My OU master's degree. I had to really scrimp and save for that over a five year period, but I'm so glad I did.

Books. My DP has to stop me from buying books - I'm obsessed. But a book shelf full of booker prize lists is my dream. (One day I'll have my own library, but he doesn't know that yet...;-)
