To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

Our sons assistant dog

CheesyWeez · 11/09/2016 17:57

IPreferCatstoPeople A painting that made you sob. That's very interesting - would it "out" you to post a photo?

I love my leather sofas and my expensive crystal glasses even if I've only got two left

youarenotkiddingme · 11/09/2016 17:58

Blondes Flowers Grin congratulations

Wynona · 11/09/2016 17:58

My house. Every day I wake it and it makes me happy to be living in such a beautiful house with the most wonderful view. I'm only here as the house that I was going to buy fell through and then this house came on the market.

A beautiful piece of art that I purchased on a visit to St Ives. It reminds me of a very happy holiday with DC were I learnt to surf.

newmumwithquestions · 11/09/2016 17:59

my swimming membership. i joined a naice health club and paid up for 2 years. Every time I pull into the club grounds I breathe a happy sigh.

newmumwithquestions · 11/09/2016 18:03

Ishouldcocoa .... Do you live in Lymington? If so consider yourself pigeon holed!

MrsKoala · 11/09/2016 18:09

My American fridge freezer. We had to have a wall knocked down and designed our kitchen around it in our old house. I always joke I want to be buried in it! (I give it a little stroke and take a deep sigh every time I walk past it Grin )

My coats, I loved them all £300+ lasting years and cared for well. Look stylish and fit their purpose perfectly.

A few DVF Bentley dresses, so so flattering and able to be thrown on and look understated but still fabulous.

2 bras from rigby and peller which actually fit me. £160 each. But the only bras in 20 years of searching to fit.

Tooth implant, jaw bone graft and fillers.

Clothes which fit my difficult frame.

Tapandgo · 11/09/2016 18:10

My house with a south facing garden in a gorgeous area. Paintings I have bought over the years that never fail to please. An Italian glass table and chair that never dates ( but needs dusting).

Tapandgo · 11/09/2016 18:13

Brilliant to hear some councils are spending money so well - as they should be.

DarkLikeVader · 11/09/2016 18:14

Foodiefil- we opted for the Neato robot vacuum as it had great reviews. If recommend going for the slightly more expensive version with the side brushes - worth every penny!

Poster with the HUSQVARNA mower - would you recommend it for a slightly bumpy lawn on a slope? After vacuuming mowing is the next time consuming thing in my hate list...!

simiisme · 11/09/2016 18:16

This is a great thread for people planning to invest in something and wondering whether it would be worth the money.
However....Wow! different worlds folks! I cannot see me ever being able to afford any of the things mentioned except, perhaps, Kickers or Dr Martens. One day. Hubby and I both work in what are considered 'professional' jobs.

INeedANameChange · 11/09/2016 18:23

Bugaboo - would buy another in a heartbeat and it sold second hand for a great price too.

Boob job Grin I love actually having a shape now.

Our pool - it's an indoor swim spar in a room we converted into a spar at the bottom of the garden, so serene and the kids love it.

So many more unaffordable things on my wish list though!

nobodysbabynow · 11/09/2016 18:23

8 metres of floor to ceiling fitted bookshelves. I want a robot vacuum though!

SerenDippitee · 11/09/2016 18:27

Multiyork sofa and armchair. We were really lucky when we bought them that we had a family member working there and able to give us their enormous discount, but even then we handed over more money than we'd ever spent on furniture. Seven years on they still look new, despite the best efforts of two DC with acrobatic tendencies and some seriously haphazard potty training.

Becca8675309 · 11/09/2016 18:28

Has to be my Hermes Birkin bag. It was £10,000, bought over 10 years ago by my husband as a 30th birthday present, but worth every penny as I don't keep it wrapped up on a shelf, I have used (and admired) it thousands of times since. I will keep it forever.

LellyMcKelly · 11/09/2016 18:29

My iPad. I use it all the time. If it broke I'd have to go straight out ant buy another!

RandomName9 · 11/09/2016 18:30

I saved for months to buy my husband a Tag Heuer watch for his 30th Birthday. He had been after it for the previous 10 years we had been together & he mentioned it every single time we walked past a shop that sold them!! Literally nothing has made me happier than seeing his face opening a present he was never ever expecting to get! Every time he goes out he wears it & still sits & strokes it & smiles to himself Smile

LanaorAna1 · 11/09/2016 18:33

Goosedown superking duvet, Fogarty. Nightly slumbers in the clouds.

Hardback books, Miller Harris Air de Rien, unsalted butter, French bread from M&S not Tesco.

I really really want a robovacuum - how do cats take to them?

CurlyMango · 11/09/2016 18:34

Roomba and scroomba

CurlyMango · 11/09/2016 18:35

Lellymkelly. Ditto!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2016 18:41

Thanks Sedona peony youarenotkiddingme

Braintack - Nigel my Neato 😃 copes with pet hair if done not daily. Otherwise normal every day to day hoovering he's great

Can go from
Room to room. Carpet to hard floor etc

Has a sensor so doesn't fall down stairs and if runs out to battery takes self home to recharge and then once has battery maybe 30mind layer will go back to the place he finished and continue

Yes you need to pick up odd socks /stuff on floor or if big will sense it and move round it

threestars · 11/09/2016 18:44

Wow mmgirlish It certainly makes you appreciate the NHS.

Mine were my leather armchairs. £1500 each in 2001 - we both earnt decent wages and this was before babies... I thought it was very decadent when I ordered them, but they have stood the test of time and children and I know I'll have them for the rest of my life - can't afford to replace them anyway Grin
Likewise my bedstead & bedside tables. Expensive, but beautiful and timeless.

MrsKoala · 11/09/2016 18:44

A superkingsize bed. It's great for lots of dc, and when all alone!

JeopardyMouse · 11/09/2016 18:45

Nike Air trainers. So comfy - they make walking a real pleasure and keep their looks.

Bone china plates to use every day - they don't get those grey knife marks in them that my cheap plates did.

Leather sofa and chairs - every day as it gets covered in muck by the DCs I'm glad we didn't get cloth.

NickiFury · 11/09/2016 18:47

My Mulberry handbag. I know that it's not worth what I paid for it really but I wanted for so long and I never believed I would get one, always seemed so out of reach. I was at the airport waiting for a flight with my ex one time and he said "go over to Mulberry and get yourself a bag" and gave me a wad of £50 notes Shock. He had a very good job though and had just had a bonus, was a drop in the ocean for him but meant so much to me.
