To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

I love my Thermomix. Gets used at least twice a day, start off with a green smoothie, maybe quick loaf and soup for lunch, batch of brownies for kids snacks and often something for dinner. I sold my kitchen aid, bread maker, vitamin and ice cream maker to buy it!

Also love my Dubarry boots. Worn daily from October to April and still look like new.

MangoMoon · 11/09/2016 09:05

Thanks to this thread I am now coveting a Lumea & a robot lawnmower Shock

Must start saving up...!!

Northernlurker · 11/09/2016 09:12

It's a mulberry bag for me. Might need to check out dubarry boots too

Diamond eternity ring from dh. Every time i regret the money I just look at it..

LeaveMyWingsBehindMe · 11/09/2016 09:24

I also have a Lumea but am too embarrassed to keep adding more and more expensive gadgets to the list Blush and i can highly recommend it.

It's a fraction of the cost of professional laser hair removal and it's just as effective in the end. it might take a few more treatments but you get there eventually and if ever the hair comes back you can still blast it some more.

When i first got it I was pretty lax about using it as frequently as I should, but after only two or three sessions I barely ever had to shave my legs and armpits since, maybe once every four to six months I find I need a bit of a top up, then one treatment does me for months again. Plus the hair comes back very light and fine so even if I don't bother to shave it you can hardly see it. Doing it on the bikini line is harder work to get a long term result, the hair is much coarser and I am a bit lazy with it.

I for my SmoothSkin. Life changing for hair management.

Another Kenwood Chef - a wedding present over 40 years ago.
It did have problems a couple of years back but we found a repair and service place - about £70 inc. delivery and good as new.

Dyson V6 cordless - only bought it for stairs and upstairs but now use it almost exclusively. So good I bought one for daughter too, for all the quick clean ups of toddler mess.

Some years ago, paying what seemed quite a lot for someone to clean my oven! Worth every penny.

Mouikey · 11/09/2016 09:38

Our guitar - spontaneous purchase on holiday in Memphis, we weren't meant to but it is beautiful (the import duty alone made me sick!!)

Super king size bed - perfect for co-sleeping with the sleepyhead!

Dyson fan - bought when comet closed so got a bargain!

Not expensive but brings us imesurable joy, our hamster.

Our holiday last year - road trip following our favourite bands last album, culminating in the most epic gig ever!! I don't think we ever figured out how much we spent but it was our last blow out before baby!!!

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 11/09/2016 09:46

A Studybed. Best 2.5k I've ever spent.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 11/09/2016 09:56

Our houses made us the most money by far but I really love my antique furniture for the sheer joy it brings me.

ChishandFips33 · 11/09/2016 10:00

Roomba robot hoovers - so wished I'd discovered them years ago
My iPad

Other than that I'm cheap to keep really!

ihatethecold · 11/09/2016 10:05

Andbabymakesthree · 11/09/2016 11:10

A black skip hoo duo change back. Brought it after several bag fails with DC1. Cost £30 from a retailer closing which at the time was alot of money for me. Used daily with DC2. About to use it again with DC3 nine years..... Still looks good!

Andbabymakesthree · 11/09/2016 11:12

Also a new superking frame and mattress when we only had a very solid double frame but needed a new mattress. Three years on I still love the space plus means little night visiting children are welcome but not cramping us!

gunsandbanjos · 11/09/2016 11:33

My mulberry handbags, well made and last forever.

Meripenopause1 · 11/09/2016 12:19

Four seasons guinea pig hutches. My boys are now in their 9th year and I think protection in the winter has helped. And custom made conservatory blinds. They make the conservatory look much smarter than it really is. Plus it's much cooler in summer.

adaisychain · 11/09/2016 12:26

My Mulberry Bayswater a couple of years ago. Still perfect and still makes me smile every day.

My Macbook Air. It's earned me it's cost back a few times over.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 11/09/2016 12:44

My ipad - can do boring house research while horizontal in bed.
Bugaboo - lovely, smooth and light to use compared to others we tried.
Anolon non-stick saucepan set - bought in the sale for £100 for university use, atrocious at the time but 13 years on I still use them daily
King sized bed and dunlopillo
K-mix. Robust, doesn't move around, was reasonably priced and I do loads more baking because of it.

W8woman · 11/09/2016 12:54

For all the parents hoping the schools prove to be worth it, I'd like to say yes, without a doubt. I work for myself so really no need for an impressive CV or network but having 4 a grade a levels from a really well-regarded school and a degree from Cambridge have given me lasting confidence that I can do anything I set my mind to, and am the equal of any situation in which I find myself.

OhTheRoses · 11/09/2016 13:03

Flipping heck blondes, you've just made me cry again. Can't wait to see you again. >>>hugs

RoseRuby26 · 11/09/2016 13:03

We spent £120 on a simple human kitchen bin. No idea why as we were skint but we don't regret it. I actually love it Grin

Whatthefoxgoingon · 11/09/2016 13:04

That's dedication blondes

Many congratulations on your pregnancy!
