Welcome to 14.....

We got spooky 13 out the way. Now business as usual.

Don't worry about making sense, we rarely do!!

A poem from Portia

Mother Nature don't build straight lines
We're broken moulds in a grand design
We look a mess but we're doing fine
We're card carrying lifelong members
Of the Union of different kinds

Crack on and enjoy!!

Better there is a comparision between stale scons and men.

UmbongoUnchained · 07/09/2016 17:26

Oh I don't Grin

To be fair, I have been on a bit of a wind up today. Been in a foul mood.

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 17:28

Agreed completely with your no-nonsense post on the tantrum thread, Umbongo!

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 17:29

Oh Umbongo hope you are ok.
Gran and I decided to see if Neil at the Ship Inn needed assistance

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 17:29

Well, AGL will have to be Dave! Grin

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 17:30

I have no idea which thread
Kindly link

UmbongoUnchained · 07/09/2016 17:31

better I'm not going crazy then?!

Who cuddles a child that his kicked them hard enough repeatedly to leave bruises?! My child's life wouldn't be worth living if she behaved like that.

UmbongoUnchained · 07/09/2016 17:32

Thanks portia I'm ok, just fat and hot.

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 17:33

Think AGL is more Anthony
We need more males as we've no Dave or Jims friend Twiggy

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 17:35

Yours was the only sane answer on the thread, Umbongo. He wasn't a toddler (five and a half) and he was wearing school shoes! I hate how some parents allow their kids to use them as punching bags.

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 17:36

Sounds a bit mad, if I knew which thread it was I may comment

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 17:37

Oh Twiggy! Now that's a prize part. What man wouldn't be thrilled to be given that role? Grin

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 17:40

Have a look on certain threads beginning with a word we must say that is fluid apparently

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 17:50

I won't post on the thread, but it's interesting because something similar happened to me. When my friend's son died in a motorcycle accident, I had her seven year old daughter and thirteen year old son stay overnight.

The son was (borderline creepily) physical with me, sort of pushing me about and stuff. At one point, he punched me so hard on the arm that I still have remnants of the bruise three weeks later. It was the worst bruise I'd ever had.

I appreciate that the circumstances were acceptional, I did tell him off, but didn't want to be too harsh because he had just lost his older brother. In hindsight, I should have been tougher. He's an adolescent who hit a woman.

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 17:59

Ive just added my thoughts !!!!!!!!!!!

AverageGayLad · 07/09/2016 18:00

Why careful of Worra?

And who are all these men and why am I them Confused

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 18:00

I think that you can be very sympathetic about children/young people's feelings while maintaining a completely zero tolerance of violence, whether from a five-year-old or a thirteen-year-old. I would condemn the violent reaction first, in no uncertain terms, and deal with the cause and feelings afterwards.

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 18:03

Are you familiar with The Royle Family, AGL? There is an enviable range of attractive male characters, and we are trying to decide which one is most like you. Grin

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 18:06

Agree Better if that child loses it at school and kicks another child fisticuffs will ensue.
He needs a good talking too.

Dinner time so back soon

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 18:08

better. Agree. I told him it was out of order, but dropped it very quickly. He did it a 'playful' way. Neither child seemed to want to talk about their brother and I felt incredibly out of my depth.

There is an incredibly complicated family dynamic there, SS are involved and the friendship was one I tried to keep at arm's length, but the mother was quite pushy, and I was too polite/cowardly to tell her I wasn't interested.

My DS understands 'no hitting'. It's all a bit alarming.

AverageGayLad · 07/09/2016 18:18

Never heard of them Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 18:19

I think you were put in a very extreme situation there, Jess - I can't think of anything harder than looking after two children who have just lost a sibling. Your friend was very lucky to have you.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 18:23

better. Yes. They have moved away so I assumed the DC's were going to different schools, but I did spot them on the school run this morning (groan)

AGL. No matter. You will always be King of this thread. Or Queen. Whichever you prefer.

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 18:24

It is a great, comic series, AGL - one of the classics. Brilliantly written by the greatly missed Caroline Aherne.
