Welcome to 14.....

We got spooky 13 out the way. Now business as usual.

Don't worry about making sense, we rarely do!!

A poem from Portia

Mother Nature don't build straight lines
We're broken moulds in a grand design
We look a mess but we're doing fine
We're card carrying lifelong members
Of the Union of different kinds

Crack on and enjoy!!

jess I also love how you're able turn it into a comedy as it happens. Hope it all went OK.

vanilla glad it was better today. So do you think PE teacher only spoke to you because of naice car? My two eldest brothers went to a secondary like that - needless to say other brother and me went somewhere else.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 09:29

I don't know about DS, but I know I want my mummy right now....

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 07/09/2016 09:31

Oh cross posted. jess just steer clear of any that might be mumzillas. There will be plenty if nice ones.

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 07/09/2016 09:32

Oh jess I'm sure he's having a brilliant time. You'll be OK. Just enjoy the peace and quiet.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 09:32

My little baby is in school!

I thought I'd look forward to this moment. Nice break and all that. Instead, I'm considering marching back there and demanding they hand him over.

He's only doing mornings this week, so I pick him up in two hours.

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 10:12

He'll be having a ball, Jess. It's just so strange for us not to have them with us. The sudden peace and quiet seems unnatural...

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 10:17

Morning
Jess your ds will be fine, read this for amusement
HTF can you have a pop up brothel? Depends if certain things pop up I suppose

VanillaSugar · 07/09/2016 10:20

Oh, I know for a fact that he only speaks to me in my naice car. I drove my Fiesta for 6 months and he would always turn his back on me. The day I arrive in something black & shiny, it's all "Hello Mrs Vanilla, how are you Mrs Vanilla? How do you keep your hair smooth when you have your top down Mrs Vanilla?" (The top is the car roof, not my blouse!)

My car is my This is to prove my point car and I slightly despise myself for it, but people definitely treat me very differently, depending which car I'm driving. Twats.

I'm still me. Jess ignore the Mumzillas. Everyone laughs at them - they do it to feel superior but everyone else rolls their eyes. It's a shame, because the act is very off putting. We had a Laboutin wearing Mumzilla at the kids' last school but once you got to know her she was quite sweet and her child was out of control cos mum could never run after her and tell her off

VanillaSugar · 07/09/2016 10:28

How do you upload a video? I've got something special for Portia.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 10:31

better. Yes. Very strange...

portia Bloody Newquay. The one town that damages Cornwall's reputation more than any other!

vanilla. Totally understand that. If I had the money (and could drive) I'd probably do the same. Although tragic that to get respect, you have to change cars. Might rock up tommorrow morning on my skateboard. See how that goes down.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 07/09/2016 10:55

Break time! I managed to FaceTime DD before she went off to nursery so I could see her before she went. Nearly went all teary and the children were due in 5 minutes later. Could have been awkward.

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 11:18

Day 1 is the worst, Being. Once you're in a routine, it'll be plain sailing. (and much less emotional!) Jaffa cakes for lunch again today? Grin

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 12:03

Uh oh. Parenting just got hardcore.

Have collected DS as he's not staying for lunch this week. He is armed with many sheets of paper. One is a 'home challenge grid' (design your own broomstick?).

Another invites parents to make a 'decorated shoe box' containing a few items that tells staff a little bit about the children. Also a request for photos for the 'family tree'.

There are also 'share slips' (proud moments/achievements etc).

So unprepared....

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 12:06

School is hard work for parents, Jess! didn't you know?

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 12:07

Did he enjoy his first day though?

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 07/09/2016 12:12

better. Apparently he had a great time, and he looked most pissed off at my arrival!

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 12:15

Excellent! (You can't win, can you?). Grin

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 07/09/2016 12:31

Jess, apparently DD was most unimpressed to be coming home at 12.

PortiaCastis · 07/09/2016 12:39

Jess School is worse for parents than ds. Also yes Newquay does give Cornwall a bad reputation, it was the pop up bit in the headline that I found funny.
Vanilla to upload a vid from you tube go to the bottom of the rigmarole about the vid and there are symbols. One a thumbs up another a thumbs down and the last a sort of arrow. Click or press the arrow and another screen appears. Top right hand corner there is a copy. Press or click on copy, open a new post on here and paste.
I have a feeling I'll regret sharing such classified info with our founder though 😅

Still a bit miffed about last night, nothing in the paper or on the net, yet I know it happened. I presume next of kin will have to be informed first. Having said that we've had a tide come in and go out but nobody washed up. So sad.

Well I have to go to Grans because she has called and said come for some lunch. Wonder if I've done anything wrong? Better not break one of her plates she still hasn't forgiven Jim with the hat for Sunday's wrongdoing

Be back later

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 12:45

I think you should give your Gran a supply of paper plates, Portia - it sounds as though a budding romance with Jim the hat was ruined for all the wrong reasons...

carbcraver · 07/09/2016 12:47

Sat in the staff room eating my lunch. Lady at my table has a flip phone Samsung thing. And is tapping away at the buttons typing a text.

Archaic and annoying

Ha Better good idea, when Mum comes back I'll request she gets delicately decorated paper plates for Grans house from the cash and carry
cc Gran hasn't got a mobile phone and doesn't like the interweb wotnot Grin
According to her this Country of ours fought a war on bread and scrape why do I need interweb wotnot Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 13:17

Being totally illogical myself, I tend to agree with her.

jetSTAR · 07/09/2016 13:55

Kids @ school? One down. One to go...

Bettercallsaul1 · 07/09/2016 14:05

So you've got the best -or worst - of both worlds, jet? When I was in that position, the worst thing was having to disturb my second one's peaceful nap (ie peaceful for me Grin) to go out and collect my first in the afternoon. First world problem
