Welcome to 14.....

We got spooky 13 out the way. Now business as usual.

Don't worry about making sense, we rarely do!!

A poem from Portia

Mother Nature don't build straight lines
We're broken moulds in a grand design
We look a mess but we're doing fine
We're card carrying lifelong members
Of the Union of different kinds

Crack on and enjoy!!

Grin That does sound quite a mix!

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 14:31

Well I've got loads of housework to do but all the time DD has napped (since 1pm) I've done absolutely nothing. It's been heaven. I never get quiet time away from both DC. House work can start tomorrow.

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 14:38

Better You are so right. People's perceptions based on an accent or residential area are so judgemental.
Banging on about Cornwall but a few months ago there was the seasoenal I want to move to Cornwall thread and the insults were flying high. People's ignorance was hilarious, to give a couple of examples
1.There are no supermarkets

  1. They're all racist
  2. There is no Healthcare
  3. I hate the Cornish
  4. They're all ignorant
Just a few examples of perception which I had a great deal of fun with. I hate the Cornish.....my answer WHAT ALL 547,000 of us I don't know that many people do you? They're all ignorant,. yep my Mum is very ignorant charging megabucks for holiday lettings Racist. Nope who knows what colour I am No healthcare ....... ha ha how silly of us to have a GP surgery

These are just a few things that have been trotted out on this very site. Tres offensive !!!

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 14:44

It's because RP still rules firmly in this country, Portia! It's RP and "the rest".

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 14:45

Have you got a Cornish accent, portia? I can't imagine it somehow, you sound too posh. I haven't, but then fierce debate rages around whether I am actually Cornish....

Was born here (Treliske, Truro) but mum & dad from Kent and Laaaandaaan respectively. So 'born', but not 'bred'. What the hell am I? (maybe don't answer that)

AverageGayLad · 06/09/2016 14:49

Grin An alien Jess

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 14:57

Yes probably Better but my Gran rules Cornwall Grin and Poldark is increasing the coffers greatly. There is a Poldark tour, mugs, tricorn hats all selling for extortionate prices and getting snapped up. Mum's lets are booked up for next summer but we are ignorant.
Perhaps its vice versa
And of course we have a duty to save lives according to another thread on which I felt the necessity to say my piece Grin

HelenaDove · 06/09/2016 15:00

Cornwall rules!!

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 15:00

Grin to Portia's Gran as Queen of Cornwall! not doubting it for one second

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 15:02

Jess you couldn't understand me, I can be posh but like to stick to my roots and keep my accent. I was born at home here in Porth somewhere

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 15:04

Oh Im ranting

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 15:11

We're used to you ranting, Portia! Grin Carry on!

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 15:16

AGL. Thank you. Have often suspected as much. The multiple heads and green tinge to my complexion were a clue. Even Clarins foundation didn't do the trick.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 15:19

I was born in the same hospital as David Cameron's sproglet. So was DS. I have mixed feelings about this.

Corbyn rules!

AverageGayLad · 06/09/2016 15:24

As long as your DS isn't Cameron's sproglet Grin

VanillaSugar · 06/09/2016 15:27

Oh fucking ARSE!!!!!! You asked if DS had friends... he made a friend very quickly who then left the school 4 months after DS joined. He made a other friend who then left that summer. He has just got a gang together but a mum has just texted me to say her son is not returning to a school. They came round 10 days ago. She said NOTHING to forewarn us. FFFFFfffffffffffffffffffff.

My Yorkshire friends are desperate for us to return. Trouble is, DH got relocated to London for his job and I don't want to go back north and split the family up during the week.

Sorry. Having a rant.

AngrySad😢😨😭😭😭😭😭

VanillaSugar · 06/09/2016 15:29

Every time David Cameron came on the telly, DS used to shout "Daddy! !"

DH looks nothing like him!

Thank you for your kind words (sniff) - there's something in my eye again Sad

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 15:31

Yes I'll be ranting even more soon when dd arrives home. She will be getting a sit down and listen which I don't like to do but do feel problems can be solved if they're shared. She obviously had a bad day yesterday so we need to nip any probs in the bud. Who knows what's wrong unless they tell us?

PortiaCastis · 06/09/2016 15:35

Grin Cameron is daddy, still you would be able to live where you want if he was Daddy

AverageGayLad · 06/09/2016 15:40
ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 15:56

It was Boris, actually...

Doesn't give me a penny.

Wish the News of the World still existed

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/09/2016 15:57

Oh, that is such bad luck about DS's friend, Vanilla!

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 06/09/2016 15:59

Oh, Vanilla it's so completely unfair. You've made a real bloody effort to get involved, too. Look what you've achieved with us lot! It's helped me enormously!

I think you need to get cracking with the book. Ultimate revenge.

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 06/09/2016 16:22

vanilla that's awful. Your poor DS. I am wondering are these friend moving because they, like you, are in the minority there (i.e. ordinary human beings) and need to get back to normal civilisation? Do you think your DP will get a job away from London in the foreseeable future?

VanillaSugar · 06/09/2016 16:28

Yes and no. Two boys have gone to Eton feeder prep schools & this last boy has gone back to his old school as it has better dyslexia provision & the mum also hated the behaviour of the boys at the swimming pool party which my DS wasn't invited to (thank god, as it turns out). Right. Off to brave the mums 😨
