We had chosen a name. She had a name! Now that she's here, he is refusing to call her the name we had picked, Sophia and is saying she looks like an Audrey or an Arden. He appears to be leaning towards Arden. He's refusing to call her Sophia and I'm at the end of my tether. She's two week old and she doesn't have a name. I wanted Sophia Alice or Sophia Skye. He keeps babbling on about how popular it is and how it doesn't feel like her name and that he knows too many little Sophias and Sophies. It's completely thrown me off track as we had planned to get her letters painted for her name and my parents are asking the name and everytime I say Sophia, he says we haven't really chosen and it's just getting to me! He wants Audrey Delilah or Arden Katherine. AIBU to say that we chose Sophia so she's Sophia now?

MommaGee · 05/09/2016 01:12

Ariadne? (Aria, Arie) Emily? (Em) Alexa? (Alexandra, Lexie, Alex, Xandra)

trafalgargal · 05/09/2016 01:24

Aria to me is the name of a Vegas hotel ......anything GoT is going to appear very dated later on.

Just as well you don't live in Scotland - you'd only have another week to decide! WinkShock not helpful Wink

FWIW, Elsa was on our short list if ds had been a girl.

Certain names really do have a date stamp . I belong to a large group where almost everyone was born around 1960 and half the women are called Susan ,Tracey, Debbie or Karen. Kylie is another name that dates the owner too. All the kids with GoT names or vampire genre names will never be able to lie about their age 😉

Amelie? Zara?

I like Aria and Juliet too.

Peanutbutterpussycat · 05/09/2016 07:38

Still no name?

I have a Lucy Valentine, she also has 2 further middle names which are 9/8 letters long respectively.
Think I was still on the gas and air when I agreed to the extra middle names though they are names after both of our grandmothers.

Poor dd, her recent first passport couldn't even fit her full name on.

She was born on Valentine's day though so there is some relevance.

Good luck op :)
I agree with pp that you need to try and work out the name to sit with the names of the other dc.

Really glad you've gone away from Arden. Playground 'hard on' jibes have been halted in their tracks.

CodyKing · 05/09/2016 08:07

I like Arianna and Orianna and Rihanna

All lovely baby names and grown up names

Lots is Sophie's here too! Along with Lilluy and Emma and Evie

MissWimpyDimple · 05/09/2016 08:21

Arianna goes really well with your other children.

Arianna Alice would be my choice but any of the middle names are nice.

WeirdButTrue · 05/09/2016 08:48

If you like A names, on my list were Alana and Audrina - the latter because I hummed and hahed over Audrey but decided it ultimately did feel a bit too old lady for a baby girl, and Audrina felt like a more modern version

SoupDragon · 05/09/2016 10:33

Hasn't the OP decided onArianna???

Kungfupandaworksout16 · 05/09/2016 10:46

Aria reminds me of Game Of Thrones. Arya (both pronounced the same just different spellings) Stark.

So be prepared if that's the chosen name to GOT references Grin

MackerelOfFact · 05/09/2016 11:01

It's completely thrown me off track as we had planned to get her letters painted for her name

I haven't read the whole thread (sorry) but if you go with Arden, you could always collude with the poster who painted letters for the name Arden on another thread a couple of months back, only for the child's mother to give them back as she wanted 'professional' ones. I can't find the thread but it would be a lovely ending. Grin

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 05/09/2016 11:05

From your combined lists I really like Clara, Juliet, Zara, Saskia and Margot.

Not keen on Arianna. It's a bit celeb-y.

biggles50 · 05/09/2016 16:42

Sophia and Audrey combined becomes Audria which is a name in itself.
