AIBU?

AIBU to be upset that he changed the baby's name?

We had chosen a name. She had a name! Now that she's here, he is refusing to call her the name we had picked, Sophia and is saying she looks like an Audrey or an Arden. He appears to be leaning towards Arden. He's refusing to call her Sophia and I'm at the end of my tether. She's two week old and she doesn't have a name. I wanted Sophia Alice or Sophia Skye. He keeps babbling on about how popular it is and how it doesn't feel like her name and that he knows too many little Sophias and Sophies. It's completely thrown me off track as we had planned to get her letters painted for her name and my parents are asking the name and everytime I say Sophia, he says we haven't really chosen and it's just getting to me! He wants Audrey Delilah or Arden Katherine. AIBU to say that we chose Sophia so she's Sophia now?

Audrey was the name of the man eating plant in little shop of horrors.....

Sorry not helpful. Neither of you can force each other but you do need to agree. Good luck

Arianna is beautiful. Prefer Alice as a name but agree with pp that Grace goes better with it.

I like Arianna. Most of the time it would be pronounced Ari Anna in my local accent.

I know a child called Arianna, but it's pronounced by the parents as AriARna,

Which I don't like as much.

Arianna Alice sounds nice.

Audrey rhymes with tawdry. I wouldn't use it for that reason.

Isabelle Alice ?

From the list and the order I would pick Arianna Isabelle.

When I was at an ante-natal appt. and went to the loo, the midwife said to DH that it was up to me to choose the name. I agree, you should have the final say.
I named both ours, I let him pick our daughter's middle name which he's now (5 months old) not sure about.

My parents fell out over my name, and it still makes me sad today. One wanted to call me one name, one the other they had a row and my mum stormed off to the registry office and called me 'her' name. It's a terrible legacy to bestow on a child. I don't like my name, and I think this is one of the reasons why.

For god's sake, it's easy enough to just go through the names you both like until you find one you both like. Just scrap any that don't get a yes vote from you both. For all the ones with the yes votes, decide which one is the winner.

If you can't do that without fighting, maybe you shouldn't be together?

Do you like any from his list? Could you pick two of them and put together?

Don't be so bloody ridiculous. A baby's parents are both equally important. The mother isn't more important just because she has a uterus.

Yr bloke is being a twat imo,he should be showering you with love and be thankful you got through the birth to provide him with a daughter...how dare he stress you out when you've just given birth ...you shouldn't be under stress or yr milk might not come in..put yr foot down ,although you shouldn't have to he should be man enough to accept what you decide

Popular is good. I had a name that was unusual as a child, forever repeating it, spelling it out etc. Tiresome. Now it's popular, yay, no spelling it out, letters correctly addressed, etc. I now just have to spell my marred surname for people!

I'm not keen on the name Audrey (coronation Street connotations I think) but strangely love the name Aubrey for a little girl. If I have a little girl I want to call her Aubrey Joan

Sophia is very common name now.
How about Arabella? Or Ariella? As an option to Arianna ... Audrey is a horrid old lady name IMO.

Aubrey is a boy's name, as its Arden!

Popular is bad. Dull dull dull. Purpose of a name is to identify - fails if 3 in a class. Loads of Sophie's / Sophia's. Audrey is great much better choice.

I have a dull name. Social event last month 3 out of 4 of us same name. I was very careful to avoid top 100 for mine.

Arianna is a very pretty name; I don't like it with Alice, though.

All the variations of Sophia/Sophie Isabelle/Isabella are very popular. Audrey is also rising in popularity. Glad Arden has already been discarded; yuck.

If I'd gone on to have a second girl, I would have looked hard at Genevieve. Very pretty.
