To think some people just aren't suited or able to hold down a full time job?

I'm one of those people, sadly. Unemployable in terms of not able to last in a full time job. I have an autoimmune disorder, chronic fatigue and mental health issues. I work for myself now, take rest when I need to. Lack of adequate rest makes me feel like absolute shit and triggers my anxiety problems, and when prolonged I develop depression. I can't manage the expected hours of a full time job and take care of cooking and basic laundry. I don't even have kids to look after. This all makes me feel unbelievably pathetic.

So I work for myself, but am always skint and running out of savings. I'm at a bit of a loss to know what to do. There must be others in similar situations, who aren't able to work full time? What do they do? What's a good solution?

I have a fairly recent (last 2 years) spinal cord injury which has changed my life. I find the pacing thing incredibly difficult. I'm single and childless, so often I come home and lie on the floor for a sob, but I can't see another way at present. I'm my own worst enemy, as I don't accept that this is it now, so am not up for changes in my lifestyle. I'm constantly exhausted, so at some point I have to think about longer time. However, I need the money to pay for the help I need (don't seem to be entitled to anything), so it's a bit of a vicious circle.
You have my sympathies.

OP I'm struggling at the mo due to anxiety and insomnia. It's so hard if you are debilitated by illness to always conform to the 9 to 5 and I admire you wfh.

I work 4 days but am considering going freelance. I've worked for 20 years now. In my current role I've not had a day off in three years since I joined, but it's a mask as I go in like a zombie most days and cannot keep it up long term. It's time to change my life. You are right. When I was previously freelance it was better than being at work in an office for me and hearing from some posters who have made it work from home gives me encouragement. So be gentle with yourself and know that others understand/support you.
