I'd like to refer people to the BBC.co.uk@s aricle about Michael Foster (my local MP).

'Labour donor suspended' etc.

Middle class - further educated professionals, managerial level, senior level, home owners may have also have investments

Working class - blue collar/some white collar workers (manual, lower paid office/administration workers) and service workers some property owners many in rental or social housing

This is a very basic description of the class differences. Of course there are crossovers. The U.K. has a deeply entrenched class system so even when financially you might move up or down differences in attitudes to owning property to what you call your children will more often give signals to others what class you are from. Aspiration was really for the mc this started to change for the wc after the war and under Thatcher this greatly increased and Blair followed on with this idea which often goes against far left ideas of everyone being equal

Agreed. I'm a single mother who works as a cleaner, so therefore 'working class'. I also have a first class degree, speak naicely and 'present' (hate that word) well.

I think the word 'aspiration' is key to the evolution of the middle classes. Of course everyone should be encouraged to strive for a better version of themselves. It's human nature.

But there also exists the very real and very frightening 'benefits trap'. I want to improve my circumstances for DS and I - of course I do. I went to college last year but cannot take any further/higher education because I ave already studied at that level (for a degree I was persuaded to choose at nineteen).

What do I do to become 'socially mobile'?

'Ave'? I mean 'have'! I can talk proper n all!

And as for the BBC I don't think they have changed how they report the news regarding Corbyn. A year ago they were informing people who this man was, his history etc be issue he was an unknown
