MyDress Yes I think the government should educate more. The RNLI do go out to schools but obviously they rely on volunteers. Police and ambulance have to attend casualties brought to shore obviously but even the air sea rescue at Culdrose has been outsourced to a private company
A talk in schools before the holidays makes sense but on otoh it's amazing how many children are lost on beaches.

That's the problem volunteers for RNLI are likely to be based in costal areas. If you grow up away from the sea, you're least likely to have the knowledge (as are your parents) and probably live a long way from any volunteers. It should be compulsory school education. Like other moral and personal welfare has become.

Correction, being and blue. Yes, it began here, but if you flick back, I was considering starting a random thread about something fairly trivial but would get a massive response. AGL. said he wanted to do one to, and asked for ideas. So I gave him one (idea, obv)
