red you are sooo organized. Would you mind popping round to mine and picking up half a ton a few bits of Lego that DS has yet again spread all over the carpet. It's getting to the stage where I can't be arsed to tidy it away at night, because really, what's the point? When will some invent the Lego Hooverâ„¢.....

Bettercallsaul1 · 24/08/2016 15:04

So am I, Vanilla! I am so sleepy today! More synchonicity!. This thread is uncanny!

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2016 15:21

portia. No clue. Though we're headed to Bank Holiday weekend and there's usually some tragedy down here (fingers crossed there won't be another). Have not been to the beach today but ex phoned yesterday, and said he looked at the Gwithian webcam and the waves were pumping. Can't get it to load, though.

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2016 15:32

The !ittle girl at Newquay has died. Please not another !ife lost!!!
Apparently windows 10 upgrade has thrown a lot of webcams/ vids offline so I was told but not sure it's correct

Aw no Portia :(

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 24/08/2016 15:57

No, Portia! How bloody tragic. Honestly, I've been at Gwithian and seen tiny little things running in and out of fairly choppy waves while the parents lie on their back sunbathing. So want to get my DS confident in the water, but at the moment he will only stick to rockpools, and part of me is relieved. Also the reason I won't let ex take him down there after the river-mouth crossing attempt; the current there is so powerful that if he'd tripped, DS could have been dragged off in an instant. Still makes me feel sick thinking about it. The fucking 'mad dads' phenomenon.

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2016 16:10

There is a thread about safety at sea and A PERSON posted WELL TTHE LIFEGUARDS AND LIFEBOAT CREW KNOW THE RISKS WHEN THEY JOIN !!!!!
Here's hoping she never needs them !!!!

Doing my food shop, I'll be back soon :)

VanillaSugar · 24/08/2016 16:18

OMG I have just completely just had the most FIng awful nightmare!!

Had a busy morning so when I got back, I flaked out on the sofa..I was dreaming that I was in a car with the window open AND MY MOBILE PHONE STARTED TO FALL OUT OF MY HAND!!!!

So I woke up to find myself scrabbling around on the sofa trying to stop the phone falling on the floor.

My heart was beating and everything.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 24/08/2016 16:18

I don't think tourists understand that there are entire lifeboat crews who have lost their lives, as well as lifeguards. They see them on the beaches, or are aware of their presence, and think they are infallible. They're not, they are human. Isn't the first rule of lifesaving not to put yourself in danger? So many tragedies where people have got into trouble and others have tried to rescue them, then all have ended up drowning.

VanillaSugar · 24/08/2016 16:18

Branded from Morrison's is fine!!!!

Mummyshortlegz · 24/08/2016 16:19

Portia that is so tragic. I cannot imagine how her family must feel. Or the crew that tried everything they could.

So bloody hot here. But my bedding dried in half an hour! Fresh beds for everyone tonight. Mmmmmm sheeeetttttsss

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2016 16:24

This is an air sea rescue at Lands End. Probably another who wanted to see how much land was left and fell off the cliff

I have a bad habit of stripping my bed, doing a wash, completely forgetting about it and then staggering to bed shattered, only to find a bare mattress and uncovered pillows staring back at me. It's grim.

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2016 16:32

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2016 16:48

Sorry to keep on about RNLI
I'm a lifeguard but don't go on duty much as I'm in my dotage but dd is trained and goes on the beach as much as she can.
Lots of teens here are trained and mostly find lost children. Dd had to save a little one whose Parents hadn't noticed she was gone
Rant over

I've done that far too many times. It is depressing.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 24/08/2016 16:51

vanilla. Are you sure your phone is OK after the dream-drop?

portia. 'Dotage' (sniggers)

MyDressIsInferiorBlue · 24/08/2016 16:57

Portia I think people just really don't realise the dangers. Just utterly oblivious. RNLI should be government funded. Then they'd be more inclined to teach beach safety in schools, etc, to people who don't live by the sea.

Mummyshortlegz · 24/08/2016 17:00

I wash and dry and Dh puts them back on. I've got back and hip problems so find it really painful. Very lucky.
