These threads, which lie empty as the night, remain unposted upon. Verily, you know what to do.*

Jess Does your DS repeat the phrases if he likes the way the words sound together (i.e. they particularly appeal to him?)

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 20/08/2016 12:03

I think so. It's quite fascinating, really. In the winter, I used to ask him to 'shut the door, please' because of draughts. He's absolutely terrified of dogs, and whenever one gets close, he will shout 'shut door please!'. He sort of stockpiles phrases, and then uses them as he sees fit. It can get rather annoying sometimes; when I top-up my phone with vouchers, I have to listen to about seven different options - which DS will then repeat for the rest of the day!

toadgirl · 20/08/2016 12:14

Jess He sounds so cute, but I get what you're saying :) Aaw, I can just imagine him saying that to a dog. My dog loves children, but he's always on a lead and I would never let him just rush at them. I am nervous of dogs I don't know, myself.

AverageGayLad · 20/08/2016 12:14

Okay but I want to preface this by saying I really do love my best friend.

We've shared a room all week, no issues, been nice - but we've CONSTANTLY been together. This happens when she stays at mine too. We were supposed to go to the zoo today but I'm not feeling great, so I said to her "I really don't mind if you go by yourself" to which I got a very emphatic NO. When I pointed out that the zoo is only 10 minutes up the road, and we don't need to be glued together, she said "Yes but in a foreign country we do". I then did a Hmm face and said she should go, but she's still adamant she could never go by herself despite her being 18 and an adult.
This is WALES not South Africa.

I'm a huge introvert with social anxiety and I NEED MY OWN SPACE! :( If I were to say "I'm just nipping out for a few" I'd get a "Ooh I'll come!".

And TMI but there's certain boy things I haven't been able to do for a week which is making me tensed up :(

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:15

Tardis Greetings from thread five.
You lot are hardcore Grin
Flowers Star jess for being able to wince and not swear when stepping on Lego (your son would be repeating some very choice words in my house Blush). You weren't ouch I stepped on a Lego piece under another name change were you? Loved that name. I only know of palilalia and only because of the middle. I need to stop swearing in any case. My toddler said fuck it last week which I would have difficulty explaining to his German kindergarten where he got it from.

Mummyshortlegz · 20/08/2016 12:17

Ouch Lego is still around they just posted on the ask a question thread I think.

AGL I wouldn't fancy Foing to the zoo alone, why not suggest she goes to the supermarket for some nice lunch snacks while you have a long soapy shower?

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:17

AGL Can't you do a Kevin Spacey and have a wank in the shower?! Wink
American Beauty: best part of his day.

toadgirl · 20/08/2016 12:18

Aw, AGL I get what you're saying. That all sounds a bit much and your friend doesn't sound like she is getting what you are saying. Is there a way you could gently explain to her that you need more time alone? As your friend, surely she would want you to be comfortable?

How long of the trip is left to go?

You're not being unreasonable to want space. She is not being unreasonable for being more extrovert. You just need to come up with a way of working something out.

Maybe a third friend is needed! Another extrovert so when you want to drop out and have peace, they can go off together.

You can talk to us, AGL.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:18

X-post Grin Great sick minds think alike!

Hi there :)

Good to see you back.

Yes, where there's a will(y) there's a way Wink

AGL This is Wales, not South Africa Grin

Kimmy. I used to be LoreleiGilmoreIsMyBFF but my ex reckoned he had found me on here. I actually no longer care, knowing the silly bugger, he is probably reading someone else's stuff and convinced it is me. Particularly if they repeatedly use the phrases 'errant father', 'cheated', 'wankchops' etc.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:25

I think as you get older you no longer care about doing things alone. At 18 I would have struggled going for a drink, having a meal, seeing a play or film or visiting a zoo alone. I did those things by myself when au pairing but in the UK would have felt too self-conscious. The dreaded billy-no-mates tag.
I now would have no reservations doing anything by myself.I'd do what shortlegz suggests.
Close proximity all week though = cabin fever.

AverageGayLad · 20/08/2016 12:26

Kimmy Let's just say the process is much easier for me lying down Grin

Also is that a TARDIS

I get that, Mummy but the zoo was her idea in the first place!

Supermarket is a half hour away :(

toad we go home tomorrow morning but she's staying at mine tomorrow night, hopefully separate rooms though! I'm worried if I try to broach the subject ill snap and that wouldn't be good :(

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:31

Sorry to hear that Jess Wankchops, indeed.
Grin about Wales being "another country".
Hi toad, the completist in me struggles with not reading threads (I am the person who has to turn the last page) but I have decided with a Dr Who persona (geek, me) to get past that and just drop by to say hello to you all grace you with my presence hahaha when I get chance. Or you will all be on EIGHTIETH thread and I'll be on thread SIX. Wink

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:34

AGL it's a lot bigger on the inside Wink like my bucket fanny

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 20/08/2016 12:36

kimmy. I discovered the 'bookmark' option a couple of days ago; was ridiculously excited! I touched a random bit of screen by accident, and it popped up with 'bookmark'. Soooooo useful. Especially on this thread, where things tend to get a little 'fast-paced'....

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 20/08/2016 12:40

AGL. I don't think you necessarily have to lie down.

I've done it all over the place. Including the Co Op

what are we talking about here?

AverageGayLad · 20/08/2016 12:41

Tardis Grin

AverageGayLad · 20/08/2016 12:42

Having a wank, Jess Grin

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:42

Ooh, where's that jess I am touching my kindle randomly (while horizontal AGL Wink) but not getting any joy Sad

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:44

Ooh ooh ooh three buttons! Yay. Thanks for that x

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 20/08/2016 12:44

You need a courgette, Kimmy, not a Kindle. Very satisfying, they are.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 20/08/2016 12:45

Okay. So what does it do?! A little ribbon tag is showing. I am that thick yes. If I go away please go away Kim but then click back on this thread later under I'm on, it brings me back here, is that correct?
