To love fangirling

I'm currently fangirling over a male celebrity - so am doing the usual - looking up every YouTube clip of him that's ever been recorded ... Looking up every internet nugget about him.

I was attracted to him cos of his good looks - coincidentally we appear to have had similar upbringings in SOME ways from what I've read!!

Ah there's worse ways to spend a weekday evening !!

Autocorrect at first changed 'similar' upbringings to 'solidarity' upbringings - as far as I know neither of us was brought up by a 1980s Polish political party ....

Agree totally with almond's description. Fangirling is not a passive activity.

I love fangirling, and have met a great group of now friends through a recent obsession.

I'm in my mid-30s and I still fangirl. I also write fanfiction when the mood takes me, enjoy fanart, look at memes, play fan games, wear fan-created clothing, play PokemonGo, and nerd out with my friends who like the same fandoms.

I also cosplay on a regular basis and attend the largest UK anime convention every year with 1,500 like-minded people. I will never be too old for something I love and enjoy doing.

I have nothing to add really, just wanted to say I read the subject as "Fingering"

I can fangirl obsessively with the best of them, and I'm 45, but Sid Vicious? Junkie murderer Sid Vicious? Interesting that fancying a pedophile is a complete no-no but a murderer is fine?

RiverTam - In theory I get what you're saying - I hate double standards and all that - but - thing is Sid Vicious has never been actually convicted of murder !

Dacre, I would say that a fangirl (or fanboy) is someone who participates in a fandom.

So a fangirl writes fanfic, makes fan art, writes meta about their fandom, makes podcasts, has fandom friends, plays fan based games or spends a lot of time consuming stuff made by other fans

I definitely will! I'm not really bothered about meeting celebs or getting autographs or anything like that usually, but I made an exception this time Been waiting so long to meet them and they are absolutely superb, national treasures for a reason!

If you're going for skinny punk bassists i'm more of a Paul Simonon or Richard Hell woman.

I'm a fangirl and proud I've met the object of my obsession several times and he now describes me as a friend He's properly lovely.
