To love fangirling

I'm currently fangirling over a male celebrity - so am doing the usual - looking up every YouTube clip of him that's ever been recorded ... Looking up every internet nugget about him.

I was attracted to him cos of his good looks - coincidentally we appear to have had similar upbringings in SOME ways from what I've read!!

Ah there's worse ways to spend a weekday evening !!

Autocorrect at first changed 'similar' upbringings to 'solidarity' upbringings - as far as I know neither of us was brought up by a 1980s Polish political party ....

He's from the late 70's lastqueen !!

I will add this to the new verbs I have learned during the Olympics-to medal, to strength and to podium.

I learned deplaning- thanks to Virgin this week. I assumed getting off a plane was disembarking but no. I know that in the USA getting off a ship is debarking.

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:02

Narrows it down ..

PurpleDaisies · 17/08/2016 20:03

Deplaning. I like that. Grin.

I thought debarking was something you did to a dog.

Thefitfatty · 17/08/2016 20:06

Are you ok OP? Given your last couple of threads I'm starting to think you're a little obsessed.
I'm a massive fangirl but I would never lose weight or post about the objects of my attention...Hmm

useyourimagination · 17/08/2016 20:07

I'm a complete fangirl and I'm nearer 50 than 40.

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:08

But I've wanted to lose weight for ages he just facilitated it....

OP posts:
raisedbyguineapigs · 17/08/2016 20:15

I'm still completely lost Confused Is it Paul McKenna??

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:16

No !!

OP posts:
Thefitfatty · 17/08/2016 20:16

But he hasn't facilitated it. Or encouraged it. Because he doesn't know you exist. Hmm

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:16

Ah but I now see why you said it raised

OP posts:
WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:17

fitfatty - I know - I mean figuratively ...

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 17/08/2016 20:17

I can't figure who it is either.

raisedbyguineapigs · 17/08/2016 20:19

That's all i culd think of, although the '70's threw me! Unless you are a mormon, I dont think Donny Osman had a similar upbringing to you! David Cassidy? I didnt know who he was, until I had to read a collection of autobiographies for my English GCSE and randomly picked him out. I cant remember anything about him, but I do remember thinking it was quite interesting at the time...

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:21

Sounds like your GCSES were much more interesting than mine raisedbyguineapigs

OP posts:
raisedbyguineapigs · 17/08/2016 20:26

Didnt you have to write your own autobiography for GCSE? Our teachers made us pick 3 autobigraphies to read, then we had to do our own. It was before the days of Katie Prices 'Autobiography a year' and I read Bob Geldof David Cassidy and Tom Baker. All chosen at random, and all really interesting people who had actually achieved things before writing their autobiography. Unlike these days [old]

BagPusscatnip · 17/08/2016 20:28

I'm 36 and I fangirl all the time - I just don't tell anyone about it especially DH Wink. The object of my fangirling changes often but I have a few stalwarts such as Paul Rudd

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:31

raisedbyguineapigs - no!! didn't have to do that - but - you chose 3 really good and diverse people for their autobiography.

I love Rylan Clark - he really is an excellent presenter imo - but I'm surprised he's got an autobiography out so soon.

OP posts:
WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:33

I'm just about to google Paul Rudd Bagpuss

I guessed you were probably of a similar age to me 'cos of your username Bagpuss!!!

OP posts:
JennyOnAPlate · 17/08/2016 20:36

I'm a complete fangirl and I'm 36 Blush if Dh ever saw the internet history or bookmarks on my phone I would die of embarrassment.

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:39

Jenny - I've erased my iPhone more times than I care to remember!!

ShelaghTurner · 17/08/2016 20:46

How many of you have husbands, fathers, sons or the female equivalent who watch the football and shout at the tv, go to matches, follow their team's movements on tv/in the papers, wear the shirts etc?

MachiKoro · 17/08/2016 20:49

So it's David Essex or Dave Gilmore?

WoburnSands · 17/08/2016 20:51

No Machi!!

Shelagh - my ex was like this - grown man with football shirt etc etc - loopy over favourite team - to be fair - was a loyal supporter.....

Fan girling is fun and harmless

(Obviously excluding the very rare cases that turn into stalking)

I'm 31 and have had various phases of fangirling since my teens, and have met great people through shared interests. Now I'm older I stay out of fandom drama but still enjoy the fun parts of it
