AIBU?

To put a box dye over my freshly highlighted hair?

Just paid £70 to have my hair turned into a stripy yellow mess Sad in devastated. I love my natural hair colour and just wanted a few honey caramels putting through but didn't want a colour change at all. I've come out with a complete mess.

It's yellow all over, stripy and the stripes start about 2cm from my scalp so it looks a few weeks old already.

I want it sorted immediately as I'm off out tonight and going on holiday tomorrow. Can I put a light ash blonde hair dye over my hair? Will this help blend it all a bit more?

Please help SadSad

I think it looks really nice! Purple shampoo on dry hair and left in for about 5 minutes will make it more ashy so try that but I like it. I could show you a horror pic of my (now ex) hairdressers recent fuck up . Now that WAS stripey! Patchy too!!

I actually liked the blonde and think the purple shampoo would have worked without the dye

That's a big difference!

Do you prefer the orange to the yellow?

In any case, the stripes seem to be gone.

That's a good improvement I don't think it looks orange at all.

The ends aren't dry yet, I cheated and only dried the top. Turns out it's hard to photo the ends of your hair.

Well, it doesn't look great but it looks a hell of a lot better than yellow stripes! Grin

Thank you all again for your help Flowers God only knows what I might have tried if I hadn't had your suggestions. I'd probably still be sitting in my underwear with my wine resembling Britney (2007).

Thank you Ginger for your brill guidance too! Flowers

I would let it settle now and just put a bit of leave in conditioner (if you have it), but don't wash it or do anything else now. When you wake up it should become less bright and will fade as it settles. Like I said it can take a couple of days to look it's best.

It is much better, I didn't think it was that bad in the beginning but it is an improvement. Hope you have a nice holiday.

Ooh that's a bit ginger... (I LOVE a ginge) but was that meant to happen?

It looks extremely copper under the bathroom light but I'm hoping it will fade and look better in daylight. If not, at least it's not yellow stripes. I really can't stress how bad it looked in real life! Two weeks as a ginger could be fun!

Main point being I can at least go on holiday now and not feel like a massive nob with bee hair and then I can hopefully get it sorted when I return. Although I have no idea what to even ask for as I'm put off highlights for life!

I'm off to bed now so I can have nightmares about yellow stripes. Thanks again everyone Flowers

It looks a gorgeous light auburn don't say ginger, don't say ginger Grin

Actually looks lovely. Just embrace the redhead look for a few weeks then see a different hairdresser.

Just wanted to share some final photos of it in the daylight. It definitely doesn't look as ginger this morning but also the stripes aren't as covered as I had hoped. Although they're certainly more muted than they were.

Hopefully the sun will help and I will see what the salon responds with. I think the universe has taken pity on me and allowed me to wake up hangover free this morning so at least me and the stripes can travel easily Smile

Flowers Flowers again to all.

I thought it looked lovely.
The second crop of photos looked a bit gingery so I don't understand how it looks so silvery now.
Have a lovely holiday.

I'm finally getting my overdue hair done on Thursday. I kept missing my hairdresser. I feel like a brown mouse.
