To put a box dye over my freshly highlighted hair?

Just paid £70 to have my hair turned into a stripy yellow mess Sad in devastated. I love my natural hair colour and just wanted a few honey caramels putting through but didn't want a colour change at all. I've come out with a complete mess.

It's yellow all over, stripy and the stripes start about 2cm from my scalp so it looks a few weeks old already.

I want it sorted immediately as I'm off out tonight and going on holiday tomorrow. Can I put a light ash blonde hair dye over my hair? Will this help blend it all a bit more?

Please help SadSad

Grin I've decided to give the ombré look a try because my DH has gone off to the party without me, I have wine and I'm emotionally unstable Grin

Thank you Ginger, I really appreciate your help. And everyone's for that matter Flowers

Currently sitting in the dye then will wash out and put the purple shampoo on for 5 mins? DH also picked up John frieda purple shampoo and conditioner, I could end with that too?

I wish I had complained at the time Sad feel like such a fool for not doing so!

Dont thank me yet lol.

the exact same thing happened to me last year in a very reputable chain salon and cost me £70 odd.

i didnt dare complain at the time n tbh jus wanted to get out of there. a hairdresser friend came and put fine highlights through it which helped.

i did eventually complain to the chain who responded saying it was a franchise and they would pass my comments on. never heard anything else.

HardleyWorthit · 15/08/2016 22:24

I know you're pretty much sorted now OP but just wanted to add that I use these every time I get my hair highlighted and as maintenance in between.

They are brilliant- much better than the Touch Of Silver which I find doesn't work too well on my hair.

HardleyWorthit · 15/08/2016 22:24

Oh yeah and I leave it on for aaaaaaaages.. hasn't turned my hair purple... yet..

ClopySow · 15/08/2016 22:29

I have wine and I'm emotionally unstable

Me too, often. But no amount of wine and emotional instability would let me loose on my own head with hairdye. Scissors - no problem.

flanjabelle · 15/08/2016 22:30

Oh God. Good luck op!

FortVenturer · 15/08/2016 22:33

10 more mins left on my dye, = another Wine, no signs of green or any other scariness yet.

Ah it's so annoying walking away from somewhere knowing you should have complained isn't it, Ginger. I wonder if it's a British thing? Assuming you're British, of course. I've had what I should have said playing on a loop in my head since I got home.

Those Hot Shots look really good, Hardley. I'll be sniffing out a boots as soon as I land tomorrow. Or a hat shop, depending on how this evening ends.

They are excellent, every time I use mine I always get asked if I've had my hair done.

Plus you only need to use about a third of a sachet on each wash so they last for ages.

Good luck!!

It's not often i get hugely invested in a thread...

AmandaIsHere · 15/08/2016 22:54

I'm Nervous for you OP is it okay the dye has it worked out well. Just be careful with purple shampoo don't keep it in too long.

Diglet · 15/08/2016 22:55

This is waaaay better than a live birth thread. Wink

PointlessUsername · 15/08/2016 22:58

Joining late with my fingers crossed for you op.

FortVenturer · 15/08/2016 23:02

Ok I'm currently sitting in my purple shampoo.

I don't think I've managed the ombré look from the little I can see of it. Probably more of the 'someone's been drinking Fanta and custard and vommed on my hair' kind of look.

Come on purple shampoo!! It's all on you now!

I must say, I can highly recommend alcohol if any of you find yourselves in a similar situation. Puts a whole new spin on things! Do I have yellow stripes, purple or green hair? Who knows? That's a matter for tomorrow me, along with the hangover I'll be kindly leaving myself with to deal with on the flight.

Hope it turns out ok op!!

HarryPottersMagicWand · 15/08/2016 23:11

I found the purple shampoo didn't lighten my hair until I had used it a few times.

SweetPeaPods · 15/08/2016 23:13

Can't wait to see end pics

EllaHen · 15/08/2016 23:14

Hope you prove the naysayers wrong op.

FortVenturer · 15/08/2016 23:16

Rinse and dry time! This purple shampoo smells delightful by the way, I'm happy to have it even if it doesn't work.

Can I just say? I think your hair colour looks really nice! Honestly I was expecting something awful but it looks nice to me.

It will fade soon anyway, don't panic. I wouldn't put anything else on it, home colours can be awful.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/08/2016 23:21

Hurry up!!!

Sorry, I mean... Hope it comes out okBlush

winchesterfan · 15/08/2016 23:22

At least you didn't attempt an at home ombré with bleach like I did.
I went from lovely long hair to a bob which I hate!

AmandaIsHere · 15/08/2016 23:23

Good to hear this is really exciting bet it's going to look fab you sound positive op.
