Away from home and partner gone missing, help

Posting here for traffic. We're in Brighton for the weekend and last night got a babysitter so we could go out for a few drinks. When we got in just before 12, DP went with babysitter to get cash to pay her, hasn't come back since. I guessed he'd gone on for a couple more drinks but everywhere will be closed now. His phone is off (it was low on battery when we were out), I don't have a working mobile just my laptop, he's got the only door key and I can't drive, so I am literally stuck here with our 2 DDs (1 and 4), check out is at 4 and I've got all our things and have no idea how I'm even going to be able to take the girls downstairs for breakfast without the key card to get back in after. I was considering calling the local A&E to see if he's got hurt or injured but don't want to wake them up. What do I do?!?!

Nerrsner don't know about you, but I'm quite worried for the OP, and I'm assuming that if he's back...whatever the explanation, she'll eventually come back to her post! I'm not suggesting that letting us know what happened should be her top priority, I meant exactly what I said....as soon as you can

Happyhippy45 · 14/08/2016 10:00

Marking my place.......hope he turns up with a good excuse op

Inkanta · 14/08/2016 10:01

'OP has gone missing too now. I'm suspecting the hotel may be haunted with ghouls who kidnap guests....'

miniHovis · 14/08/2016 10:01

Yes he's my ex, he ended up having a special place to disappear to while I waited at home worried about him.

As far as I know he still does the same thing to this day, not my worries anymore

FuturesAChanging · 14/08/2016 10:02

When you do get to the bottom of this you need to have a think about everything as thinking its normal he just went off for a drink without you and telling you really isn't normal behaviour. My first thought would be accident/got lost. Wouldn't cross my mind he went out solo

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/08/2016 10:02

I've stayed in a few hotels more recently and it's been one key....

I frequently stay in hotels, none have only offered one key if there are 2 of us. Park Plaza for example ask at check in even when I'm on my own if I want or 2 cards.

Therealloislane · 14/08/2016 10:03

Op says she has no phone, just laptop.

Maybe it's difficult for her to get on & update. If her dh us still nit home mn is hardly her priority.

FuturesAChanging · 14/08/2016 10:03

and I agree that I hate all the "any updates" posters. If OP never comes back either something terrible happened or she got the answer to her question for help at the time

BitOutOfPractice · 14/08/2016 10:03

Blimey. Seems to be the night for people going missing.

Hope he's back now

lovelybangers · 14/08/2016 10:04

Any news yet OP?

debbs77 · 14/08/2016 10:05

Hope you're okay OP x

londonrach · 14/08/2016 10:07

Very common to just be given one key. You have to ask for another... Op hope he turns up!

insancerre · 14/08/2016 10:08

We normally just get one key card
Dh puts it in his wallet
I don't need a key card as we are together

Most hotels do ask how many you need

FanDabbyFloozy · 14/08/2016 10:08

I hope you and the kids have had breakfast by this point.

Roomba · 14/08/2016 10:09

I've stayed in loads of hotels here they've only given us one keycard.

My ex did this sort of thing semi-regularly. He vanished in the middle of the night when we ere in Barcelona, just got back up after I fell asleep and vanished for 48 hours. He also went AWOL for over 24 hours in Crete, and for a record 4 days in Manchester once (while we were staying with his mother, it was mortifying as she was so anxious and embarrassed). Hence the word ex.

Hope he has turned up and you've made it clear just how dreadful this is, OP (assuming nothing awful has happened to him).

MrsUnderwood · 14/08/2016 10:12

Could he have been arrested?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/08/2016 10:13

You have to ask for another key? I've never in years of regular hotel staying stayed anywhere where the hotel does not offer each adult a key card.

StarlingMurmuration · 14/08/2016 10:16

What's your point, Lass? Are you trying to imply the OP is lying? Unless you've stayed at the OP's hotel and been offered two keys, you really don't have a clue whether she's telling the truth. I too stay at a lot of nice hotels for work, and often get asked how many keys I want, but even if I'm with DP, we usually only get one because we won't be going out on our own. And equally, some hotels only offer one key, so you'd have to ask for another. There isn't a hard and fast rule.

If you think she's a troll, report and shut up.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 14/08/2016 10:16

Roomba. Bloody hell! Must be terrifying to be abroad and have him go awol! Glad about the 'ex' part Smile

trafalgargal · 14/08/2016 10:18

No idea where the OP is staying in Brighton but the Holiday Inn on the front gave me one key and I had to ask for a second when I stayed there.

GingerbreadGingerbread · 14/08/2016 10:18

How did he pay the babysitter without you knowing did she go with him to the cash point? I would never assume the father of my two young children would then decide to go out drinking alone and leave me in a hotel room without mentioning anything, that's absurd! Hope he turns up soon.

Oooopsididitagain · 14/08/2016 10:19

Come on OP, is he back yet?!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/08/2016 10:20

The point about the key card is ridiculous. All she had to do was phone reception and ask for one. I'm amazed so many people are apparently joined at the hip that the idea of having their own key is so outlandish.

laurzj82 · 14/08/2016 10:21

Hope you're OK OP
