Away from home and partner gone missing, help

Posting here for traffic. We're in Brighton for the weekend and last night got a babysitter so we could go out for a few drinks. When we got in just before 12, DP went with babysitter to get cash to pay her, hasn't come back since. I guessed he'd gone on for a couple more drinks but everywhere will be closed now. His phone is off (it was low on battery when we were out), I don't have a working mobile just my laptop, he's got the only door key and I can't drive, so I am literally stuck here with our 2 DDs (1 and 4), check out is at 4 and I've got all our things and have no idea how I'm even going to be able to take the girls downstairs for breakfast without the key card to get back in after. I was considering calling the local A&E to see if he's got hurt or injured but don't want to wake them up. What do I do?!?!

OP posts:

Come back OP!

LIZS · 14/08/2016 09:39

Maybe she is doing breakfast with her dc or speaking to hotel or babysitter?

Wdigin2this · 14/08/2016 09:40

Discopanda if he's back and you're in the middle of a row, fair enough....but put us all out of our misery by posting as soon as you can!

If he's not back, phone the police and tell them this is extremely out of character (if it is) and, if you're really unable to get your DC home on your own....ask them for help!

Wdigin2this · 14/08/2016 09:42

miniHovis really??

AmserGwin · 14/08/2016 09:42

Any update?

Sagethyme · 14/08/2016 09:42

lass I've stayed in a few hotels more recently and it's been one key....and inevitably given to DH even when I'm the one checking in grrrrr! I'm guessing OP and her dh had arranged for a later checkout time, so they could have the whole day in Brighton.
But I can't imagine any baby sitter, having to walk to a cash point with an unknown stranger, would be at all happy.
OP why didn't you have the cash to pay her?
Hope it's all sorted now anyway.

SheHasAWildHeart · 14/08/2016 09:42

OP- No working phone on holiday but does have a laptop. No key card.
DP - Phone low on battery. Has key card.
Sounds like one of those escape games - how does OP leave the room?

Ring reception for a key card, they'll recognise the room number you're calling from and know you're legit. Feed your children breakfast. Wait until 12 and then ring the police. Use hotel phone to contact friends to help you and DC get home.

NickiFury · 14/08/2016 09:43

Mine too minihovis.

He even left us in Thailand once......

NerrSnerr · 14/08/2016 09:44

The OP doesn't need to post as soon as she can.

Maybe something bad has happened and she's dealing with police and hospitals or maybe he's home and she's busy trying to have a nice day with family.

As she is on her laptop as I have now established maybe it's a huge pain in the arse to load it up when busy.

rollonthesummer · 14/08/2016 09:45

Hope he's back!

miniHovis · 14/08/2016 09:46

Wdigin yes really including on holidays in Tenerife, we would go out and head back to hotel and suddenly there would be an excuse to pop downstairs to the lobby and then that would be him for the night, was also a regular occurrence at home and he would disappear all night, I was young and stupid at the time...

Inkanta · 14/08/2016 09:46

Have never heard of a 4pm check out.

4pm check out sounds like it would fit in with a 4 pm check in for hotels.

Kirriemuir · 14/08/2016 09:48

Quite a lot of places do late check outs. Sometimes advertised and sometimes you need to ask.

NoahVale · 14/08/2016 09:49

hoep you got your breakfast op

AnneGables · 14/08/2016 09:50

Hopefully he has turned up safe and you're able to at least have a nice day with your dc before you head home.

StuffandBother · 14/08/2016 09:50

I hope he has a good explanation because if he went on the lash without telling you, leaving you in a hotel room with 2 preschoolers I would really be rethinking my relationship with him. Can you go back sitters.com and ask them to contact the sitter?

ninenicknames · 14/08/2016 09:51

Has he come back

flumpybear · 14/08/2016 09:51

Any news!? Assuming you've fallen asleep or you're kicking his arse!!

Wdigin2this · 14/08/2016 09:52

miniHovis maybe I didn't read your post properly, but are you still with him, and if so....does he still do it?

Writerwannabe83 · 14/08/2016 09:53

OP has gone missing too now. I'm suspecting the hotel may be haunted with ghouls who kidnap guests....

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/08/2016 09:54

4pm checkout out is not standard. Most are 12 although some hotels offer a later check out if you pay a bit more or are a loyalty card holder. Radisson Blue can offer a 6pm checkout but it depends on availability.

4 pm checkout does not tie in with a 4 pm check in -rooms have to be cleaned between. 4 pm check in is very late, around 2 is more normal.

SanityClause · 14/08/2016 09:54

Your ex, you say, miniHovis?

EasternDailyStress · 14/08/2016 09:55
