Away from home and partner gone missing, help

Posting here for traffic. We're in Brighton for the weekend and last night got a babysitter so we could go out for a few drinks. When we got in just before 12, DP went with babysitter to get cash to pay her, hasn't come back since. I guessed he'd gone on for a couple more drinks but everywhere will be closed now. His phone is off (it was low on battery when we were out), I don't have a working mobile just my laptop, he's got the only door key and I can't drive, so I am literally stuck here with our 2 DDs (1 and 4), check out is at 4 and I've got all our things and have no idea how I'm even going to be able to take the girls downstairs for breakfast without the key card to get back in after. I was considering calling the local A&E to see if he's got hurt or injured but don't want to wake them up. What do I do?!?!

God this stirs up awful memories of my ex and makes so me grateful he's someone else's problem now!

VanillaSugar · 14/08/2016 10:23

Still marking my place.

ArnieChops · 14/08/2016 10:27

Hope he's back and she's giving him a bollocking!

StarlingMurmuration · 14/08/2016 10:27

It's not that the idea of getting more than one key is outlandish. It's that you seem to think it's outlandish to just have one key, despite several posters telling you this is SOP at many hotels they have stayed. If the OP was just given one key, it's not impossible to believe she didn't realise she could ask for another, nor is it impossible to believe that she might be so frazzled and worried by 4am that she hadn't thought of ringing down to reception for another.

PointlessUsername · 14/08/2016 10:28

Hoping all is well now op.

NickiFury · 14/08/2016 10:28

I can't actually see any post that says that the idea of two cards is outlandish and that they prefer to be joined at the hip. Just ones musing over different hotel key experiences.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/08/2016 10:29

I hope you're OK OP and that he eventually made it back safely.

Doublemint · 14/08/2016 10:30

Hope everything's alright op

insancerre · 14/08/2016 10:31

Lass
Are you alright?
You sound a bit hysterical

Discopanda · 14/08/2016 10:37

Update- he came back just after I posted last. He'd gone out for a 'couple more drinks', apparently 2 guys stole his debit card and he 'made a scene' and ended up in a police cell overnight! He's safe but I'm still pretty angry.

Maybe time to get yourself a working phone?

3littlefrogs · 14/08/2016 10:39

I hope he has informed the bank and stopped the card.
He will need a crime number.

He sounds very irresponsible.

PUGaLUGS · 14/08/2016 10:40

Would he have not been allowed a phone call? If so, he could have at least phoned your hotel to let you know.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/08/2016 10:42

No wonder you're angry. What a selfish arse from start to finish.
I'm glad he's ok but it sounds like you need to have a chat once you're home and emotions have calmed down a bit. He needs to start acting like a responsible partner and parent.

P1nkP0ppy · 14/08/2016 10:43

Did he? Strange he didn't let the hotel know so they could pass on the information.
Hmm

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 14/08/2016 10:44

Glad he's back, OP, but a very severe bollocking is in order. Next holiday, go to a remote rural village. He has been completely irresponsible and caused you a night of lost sleep and incredible worry. He owes you. Big time.

Kirriemuir · 14/08/2016 10:44

Are you not allowed a call from the station?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/08/2016 10:45

Whilst I am glad to hear he is safe I think he needs to take responsibility for the shit he has put you through. He has behaved like a selfish teenager and wrecked your weekend away for a couple of drinks.

happypoobum · 14/08/2016 10:46

Sounds very fishy to me but glad he is back safely.

Floggingmolly · 14/08/2016 10:46

He made a scene?? Enough to get himself arrested? What a knob head Hmm

Fanfeck · 14/08/2016 10:46

I would take that with a large grain of salt I'm afraid.

peanutnutty · 14/08/2016 10:46

Ooh, I'd be suspicious of that story, ever the cynic!
Do the police release him with any paperwork?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/08/2016 10:47

Did he get his debit card back? If not you need to get on to the bank to cancel it.

SheHasAWildHeart · 14/08/2016 10:47

So he was mugged and arrested? What kind of scene did he make?
