Posting here for traffic. We're in Brighton for the weekend and last night got a babysitter so we could go out for a few drinks. When we got in just before 12, DP went with babysitter to get cash to pay her, hasn't come back since. I guessed he'd gone on for a couple more drinks but everywhere will be closed now. His phone is off (it was low on battery when we were out), I don't have a working mobile just my laptop, he's got the only door key and I can't drive, so I am literally stuck here with our 2 DDs (1 and 4), check out is at 4 and I've got all our things and have no idea how I'm even going to be able to take the girls downstairs for breakfast without the key card to get back in after. I was considering calling the local A&E to see if he's got hurt or injured but don't want to wake them up. What do I do?!?!

OP posts:

If I was the sitter I don't think I would be happy or comfortable to have to go the cashpoint with a stranger to have to get my money to be honest

I don't know. I might. I don't immediately assume every man is a danger and I'd just want to get home after the shift. I do however think the posts assuming the sitter then chose to go off with him are absurd and misogynistic.

Maybe he just got sidetracked Confused
Calmest response ever Grin

Hope he has turned up OP and you are ok.

If it's a big hotel they should step in and help you by making calls etc on your behalf.

3weeksthankgod · 14/08/2016 09:22

I agree it would be odd for a couple to return to a babysitter with no cash and also for the babysitter to be required to go with him to the cashpoint. I would possibly do that if the cashpoint was very close by and if they are in a hotel in Brighton presumably it is central.

There are so many possible scenarios but they could easily have been chatting, she said she was off for a drink with friends, he said I'll join you and off they go.

Bumpngrind85 · 14/08/2016 09:22

Is he back OP??

Wdigin2this · 14/08/2016 09:23

Wonder why the OP doesn't have a working phone ???

happyvalley4 · 14/08/2016 09:24

Any news yet OP?

greathat · 14/08/2016 09:25

Maybe she forgot she posted here, she had been out for drinks? Come back OP

NerrSnerr · 14/08/2016 09:26

I imagine he came home at 5am and they slept it off and are now sorting breakfast.

I did wonder what the OP was posting on if she didn't have a working phone but could easily be a laptop of tablet I guess.

smilingeyes11 · 14/08/2016 09:26

hope he is back

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 14/08/2016 09:27

I don't think she is comin back...

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/08/2016 09:27

So the hotel offers the luxury of a 4pm checkout but only 1 electronic key card? I've never stayed in any hotel which did not give each guest their own key card.

winefairyagain · 14/08/2016 09:27

If he has the only room key then it should have the name of the hotel printed on it so he can't be that 'lost'

NerrSnerr · 14/08/2016 09:28

Bloody did the OP say that she is unable to drive. Sorry if missed it. But surely she can just drive home?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/08/2016 09:28

I did wonder what the OP was posting on if she didn't have a working phone but could easily be a laptop of tablet I guess

Apparently OP does not have a mobile phone but took her laptop with her.

LewisAndClark · 14/08/2016 09:29

God what an arsehole. Hope you managed to get some sleep and that he turns up soon.

Yes, in the opening post she says she can't drive and has her laptop.

tina363 · 14/08/2016 09:30

Seems odd she hasn't replied yet. Hopefully she's stopped worrying about him and is focusing on getting her and the kids sorted.

Rockingaround · 14/08/2016 09:32

He must be back by now OP, are you ok?

NickiFury · 14/08/2016 09:32

I stay in hotels quite a lot and they tend to ask if you want more than one card these days, that's my experience any way. Just last week I was in Berlin and the key card had a mini lecture on it about not losing them as they cost money to produce Hmm

NerrSnerr · 14/08/2016 09:32

Oh dear! Sorry I thought I read it properly.

Goes away and reads the whole thread properly.

happypoobum · 14/08/2016 09:34

Discopanda is a regular poster so I think/hope she will be back when she is able.

miniHovis · 14/08/2016 09:36

Hopefully he has turned up.

My ex was really bad for just disappearing on a bender, time and time again, didn't matter where we were!

Diglet · 14/08/2016 09:39

I presume he has turned up and they were/are asleep
