I was on a teacher training group (the one where I posted an AIBU about the trainee who could not add a quarter and a half).
Most of the posts are, IMO, a bit vacuous. Fashion advice for trainees etc
Anyway one woman posted a photo of her new £34 planner last night with the caption "look at my £34 planner...cannot wait until September soooo excited!" and I posted "can people just stop bragging off". I was then dogpiled by a load of women who are soooo excited to start their training, so I blocked them and then got booted.
I think the main issue is I am not "soooo excited" about September. It looks like bloody hard work. I am looking forward to it, but not exactly doing cartwheels over all the hard graft I am going to have to put in.
Perhaps it is because I am older than the other trainees at 40. I dunno. Perhaps I am just a miserable grump.

Yip, start a new thread. Ask for support. You will get it.

Depression isn't an excuse to be a cockwomble.

Toad. Hmm. Maybe I'm not so 'off' them after all drags DS to shop to stockpile Dammy Jodgers

Doggity · 11/08/2016 12:34

I think you need to ask yourself whether posting on social media is really helpful when you're feeling low. It's not an excuse either. I know it might explain why you're feeling less tolerant but you don't know what £34 planned person is going through either. A little kindness goes a long way. If you're kind, you will usually get it back. I really hope you get some help and that you have good RL support. Depression is a thief but you can learn to live with it and get better too. Flowers

Jammy Dodgers , even. Good thing I'm not a teacher....

JigglypuffsCaptor · 11/08/2016 12:34

I got banned from a pregnancy group for telling one woman if she told me one more time about the joys of breastfeeding I was gonna slap her in the face with my engorged right breast and cracked nipple Blush I also tore a Moses basket stand apart with my bare hands, I think I had some hormonal issues Confused

Yes, we have to stop the bad associations we have with them.

They are BISCUITS for heaven's sakes!!!! Shock

You can call me anything so long as it's accompanied by a biscuit Wink

ilovesooty · 11/08/2016 12:36

I feel concerned for you and wonder whether you will cope with the mental and emotional challenges of teaching.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 12:36

Cherry. Just. Wow. (Would appreciate a link to a jumbo Creme Egg - have dreamed of this since childhood)

Nofunkingworriesmate · 11/08/2016 12:36

Teaching will not improve your mental health
worst job for you to be in especially if you are prone to lashing out when depressed
Can you go part time , no shame in taking a break or changing career
Trust me the lack of sympathy you have experienced here is nothing to what you will experience in the classroom
I wish you well

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 12:37

You effing, filthy, dirty, hideous toad Biscuit

LagunaBubbles · 11/08/2016 12:38

Dont go off in the huff OP, you did post asking if youre being unreasonable (although not sure why as youve said so what if you were rude! Confused)and if you cant handle people having different opinions from yourself then perhaps you should stay away from social media.

"Was I being unreasonable"

"Yes, you were really. You came off quite rude"

"Everybody fuck off! I don't give a fuck about the group I was kicked off of that I cared enough to write a post on here about. I don't give a fuck about the opinions that I asked for. I don't give a fuck about stationery or other people's feelings. So fuck off the lot of you".

True story.

What is a planner anyway? Is it a fancy diary?

catinbooots · 11/08/2016 12:42

Seriously?

Sorry about your depression dude but don't ask AIBU if you don't want to hear the answer

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 12:43

toad and cherry. Oh. My. God. Am now in a state of heightened arousal. They exist! Flowers and Wine for both of you!

CoolToned · 11/08/2016 12:44

I don't get the biscuit reference.

What does it mean and why is it applicable to OP's situation?

toadgirl · 11/08/2016 12:45

I never knew being given a biscuit was considered a bad thing until I came to MN Confused

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 12:45

OP, start a new thread. You will get support (and possibly a gigantic Creme Egg)

toadgirl · 11/08/2016 12:46

Oh yes, they exist! Would like to eat my way out of one with a spoon!

Thanks for the wine. Will wash my bix down nicely.

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2016 12:46

A planner is a diary ( used to be called a File-O-Fax) that most people keep for the whole year, to record meetings/dates/progress etc.

If someone wants to spend £34 of their own money for something that's going to last them a whole year, that's entirely up to them.

Having said that, it could have been a gift anyway. My friend is a deputy head teacher and I bought her something similar when she left to work in a school up North.
