To hate her voice

You know when you KNOW YABU - and petty, and mean, and unkind.

I can't stand a woman's voice.

It's nasal, common, shouty and goes right through me.

I HATE it.

I know I'm BU but has anyone else ever had this!?

there is a particular female TV presenter on the BBC local news that I really can't stand.
Its a nasal, whiny voice but what really grates is her inflection, which often seems inappropriate. As though she has been told to not speak in a monotone but is just saying the words without any understanding of their meaning. (No I'm pretty sure she's not deaf)
If she's doing one of those in-depth reports I have to mute it till she's finished.

I have one too! Another mum at the school gates.

I noticed her more than a year ago, but she looks amazing. She is very pretty, always smiling, and I absolutely love her style. She is always wearing a different outfit, which is why I noticed her in the first place. Think a different coat with matching outfits in the winter, she is great (and not show off, I 've also seen her working locally).

Anyway, one day I heard her speak. That totally ruined the character. I can't help it, I absolutely hate her voice.

So OP, let's be BU together (and I promise I won't say a word)

I used to hate XMILS voice. I literally had to take the phone away from my ear if she had left me a message. I would ask the DC, "what's that message from nanny, I can't hear it very well" so that they could tell me what she had said.

Despite being in her sixties, she spoke like she was three years old. Or speaking to a baby. It used to actually make me shudder when she came in the door and started up with her long drawn out "Haaaaaaallllllllllooooooowwwww"

She also used to use baby language around adults. Words like "moo cows" and "trac tracs" "din dins" OMG OP you have brought it all back and now I have to go for a lie down..........

Hate the word "common" but as soon as I read the title of the thread I thought "fucking Janet Street Porter".

Her voice makes me stabby.

It isn't the accent at all. It's the nasal-ness and the way if she doesn't hear what you say she shouts 'EHHH? Y'WHA'? EH?'

That's where the 'common' comes in. It really goes through me!

my darling children are addicted to a Youtube minecraft vlogger whose girlfriend vlogs with him.

I cannot be in the same room when they're watching it because I find teh woman's voice completely unbearable. It is nasal, whiny and simpering all at the same bloody time.

I used to get the bus to work and a few secondary school kids used to get on the same bus. There was this one girl about 15/16 who had a really annoying voice/laugh. I was so glad when I stopped getting that bus because it was a horrible bus route anyway, but also because I didn't have to listen to her irritating voice anymore!

I can't stand Melvyn Bragg's voice.
DD1 can't stand David Attenborough's.
I also used to know something who sounded like she had a permanently cold - I found it difficult to listen to her for a prolonged time.

On the other side, I love Sean Pertwee's voice - he can read me a bedtime story anytime!!

Oh god my SIL who are NC has one of the worst voices known to man.

She was very unpleasant person in the first place but add in her voice and it's like nails on a chalkboard effect.

She was also a chronic chain smoker and would regularly have a big hacking cough every few minutes that left your nerves all jumpy.

So glad I don't have to see OR hear her
